Gentle Reader, you’re probably thinking, “Hey IPB, you look different. Did you get a haircut?” It was make-over night at IPB Manor as we’ve rolled out our brand new logo. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Scott Turner of Superba Graphics for doing such a fantastic job! In addition to the banner above, he’s drawn up a bevy of other logos for us to use as soon as we can figure out the html code. Here’s a preview of one of the others:

Anyone want to place orders for t-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers, NASCAR sponsorship, or IPB Fatheads? Just kidding! (For now…)

We did think long and hard about the tag-line “Reasons to Love Hockey”, since “Reasons We Love Hockey” is a series of posts that will end when the season starts, but ultimately we decided a) interchangeable parts (lower case “i”, lower case “p”) are a major reason we love hockey and b) as we mentioned in tonight’s post about the Parise re-signing, we’re really a blog that focuses more on the experience of being a fan, rather than say, well, news.

Our Very Own Zach Parise

You may have noticed, Gentle Reader, that we’re generally not very good about coming up with responses to Devils news. We were thrilled with the Zubrus acquisition, but have remained officially mum on the subject. We kept our peace on the Sutter hiring because, well, we don’t know anything about him. And as for the assistant coaching staff announcement, we hadn’t been aware that those guys weren’t already the assistant coaches. But today? Today’s news is significant enough to us that not only will it elicit a response from us, but it will stand as a Reason We Love Hockey. If you’ve been living under a rock, or actually rely on IPB for Devils news (and please say you don’t, Gentle Reader. Because that would be really, really sad if you did), Zach Parise re-signed today, a 4-year, $12.5 million contract. To say we’re shocked and delighted would be putting it mildly. To say we’re poomerdoodling, and shouting from the rooftops, “I say, Boxworthy, break out the good china tonight!” would be more accurate.
