Today is, fittingly, the last “fuck you” from the unbalanced schedule to us. That “eight games within your division a year” thing is going out with a bang, pounding us with a third Rangers game in our last ten, and a tune-up before we get things started against them next week in the first round. We will be spending this game today imagining what it’s going to be like when we’re allowed to watch teams other than the Rangers, Islanders, Flyers and Penguins. It’s hard to even comprehend, actually.
On the line today? Oh, just home ice in the 4-5 matchup. The likelihood that the Devils will be opening the playoffs in Newark? Nil. The real question today is whether the Devils are going to be able to improve on how magnificently awful they were on Friday in Philadelphia; by “improve on” we mean, “be even more magnificently awful.” We suspect they can.
Oh, and rubbing salt in our wounds is that Doc is busy calling Detroit/Chicago on NBC, so we’re stuck with Steve while we wallow in misery.
