We were ready to pile on about how miserably unhappy we are to have missed the first night of the playoffs thanks to the NHL not caring about how Pookie has to work late on Wednesdays… but it turns out we’ve got Doc tonight. We were confident he’d be on VS. Thank Hockey Gods for small favors.
Our MSG+ intro includes some flavoring shots of the outside-the-arena festivities, and we see a time-lapse shot of Chuck The Duck getting a cartoon portrait. And in the human portion of our pregame, Chico is jauntily showing off how you totally don’t need to buy an official “Rock Your Red” t-shirt in order to participate in this dopey red-out idea. Yeah, he’s wearing a regular-old red shirt. It’s not that hard, people.

19:37 The suspense is finally ended as we see that Zubrus is matching up against Jagr. Innnnteresting. The highlight of their first shift is a giant hit attempt by Whitey on Straka that Chico points out was not called a charging penalty only because Whitey completely missed his target.
18:46 It looks for a moment like there is a two-on-one slowly forming down low for the Devils, but Madden is smarter than to pass to Paulie.
