OK, what is it with NBC and VS that they are so averse to showing close-ups of hockey players or letting the fans get to know the players better? All we ever hear about is “casual fans can’t get into hockey because you can’t see the players through their helmets!” Then NBC goes and does a “profile” of Zetterberg and Datsyuk that a) doesn’t include Zetterberg or Datsyuk talking and b) fills 3/4 of the screen with static, boring graphics limiting the footage of the players and coaches to a teensy, tiny portion of the screen so you can’t see it. WTF? It’s not that hard to get the guys to sit down and do a five-minute interview in street clothes so the casual fan can see what they look like! GAH! It makes me so mad!

I like how they count all those empty seats as “attending fans”. Seriously, Wings fans should consider themselves lucky that they don’t have a rival located less than ten miles away, like a certain fanbase I can think of that got ALL KINDS of shit from the hockey world at large for not being “good” enough to keep the rival fans from filling their building.

I felt kind of worried at the last game because it started so early. Just a few minutes before the game there were still a lot of towel-draped empty seats in the lower bowl, but by the time the first puck was dropped it was all full.

Mags, as Brenden and Kris Draper were crossing in the neutral zone, Draper just lifted up his stick and crosschecked Morrow right in the cheek. There was no call on it. Later, Morrow tried to have a talk with Draper and the NBC guys later showed the crosscheck to explain why he was mad.

It was so far away from the play, that we didn’t see it on TV when it happened.

Thanks, guys. It was for my 18-year-old third cousin (my grandmother’s sister’s grandson). He was killed in a car accident on Wednesday morning, 8 houses from his own. Between the family, his friends from school, his siblings friends and assorted others, the funeral home was standing-room only.

Probably true. If I were a sane Red Wings fan (hahahahaha!), I’d be worried. Most of them probably wouldn’t have been upset about that a couple of games ago, but I bet it would make them nervous now.

The (former) mayor of Dallas got a TON of flak back in 2006 when she reported to the papers that she and the city officials were planning the Mavs’ parade route. The Mavs were up 2-0 on the Heat at the time, and promptly lost four in a row. And are now shells of their former selves. The Hockey Gods don’t like it when you think you know how it will turn out.

Me too. I’m just finding that I don’t like the Pens. I didn’t like them all season, and I don’t like them now. Not, like, that I hate them or anything, but just that they’re one of those playoff teams that I’m not warming to. Like the Flames. I find Pierre is a lot easier to laugh at than Milbury. Milbury just makes my hockey-lovin’ heart sad. I don’t understand why NBC thinks hockey fans want to be made to look like Neanderthals.
