This is the 35th in our summer series in which we are pulling hockey cards at random from a box and then writing about them.
Today we decided to turn to Victory Euro Mats to draw our card from the PBS Dispenser.
He was hesitant to get involved at all, but we reminded him that August 1 is his namesake’s “soft deadline” for picking his new team, and this might be a good way to help the process along. Victory Euro Mats thought that was a great idea, and agreed that whichever card he picked would be the team that real-life Mats would sign with.
There were a lot of teams to choose from:
Victory Euro Mats spent some time swimming in the offers coming from all across the league, and just when we were about to completely lose all interest and give up hope of ever gaining some closure here, he finally drew a card. And frankly, our questions remain just as unanswered as they were before we started. You see, he drew a Dustin Penner card. A Dustin Penner Ducks card.
So which is it, Mats? Ducks? Or Oilers? Wait, you know what? We don’t care.

Yay! Victory Euro Mats has returned! So cute. :D
He’s cute because he’s not threatening to sign with your team! alix probably doesn’t think he’s so cute! Heh.
He’s cute because he’s not threatening to sign with your team!
This is true, this is true!
Morning, IPB! How fares everyone today?
He’s cute because he’s not threatening to sign with your team! alix probably doesn’t think he’s so cute!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! So true!! Terrible, and true. :D
Good morning, everyone! I’m doing GREAT today because it’s finally, at long, terrible last, Friday! WOOO HOOOO!!!!
And it’s August! I was going to say that means there’s only one month left in summer proper, but it’s time for me to adjust my standards. I need to admit that September is part of summer, too. As it stands, I’m always like, “Oh thank GOD! It’s September at last! It’s FALL!” And then it’s still 95 degrees out and there’s no hockey on and the month just DRRRRRAAAAAAGS and I’m doubly crushed because I thought it was finally autumn. So… there are only TWO more months left in summer now. WOOOOOOO!!!!!
Thank god, indeed, that it’s Friday, Schnookie!
Oh, and I missed this yesterday (whoops) but wooo for triumphing over your Crazy Bitch Neighbor! That’s so fantastic that Ms. Know It All is in envy of the garden. What better comeuppance than that?
Have you begun monitoring to make sure she doesn’t steal out of the garden yet? :D
HA! We probably should! Actually, I think she’d be more inclined to steal the garden itself, rather than the contents. She seemed very puzzled about what a person does with soup beans. :D
Hey, maybe Crazy, Crazy Bitch will steal the san marzanos to make jalapeno poppers!
She just might do that, Pookie! They do look ever so much like peppers, if you ignore how much they look like tomatoes.
She seemed very puzzled about what a person does with soup beans. :D
…Seriously?! This woman is clearly not right upstairs.
Hey, maybe Crazy, Crazy Bitch will steal the san marzanos to make jalapeno poppers!
Heee!
And yay, my cucumber and beet seeds shipped today!
WOO HOOO!!! for your cukes and beets, Caitlin! Beet seeds are my favorite seed — they’re totally bizarre looking. (Isn’t that fun about vegetable gardening? It’s so surprising finding out how different all the seeds look. And sometimes puzzling when you try to figure out where the seed comes from. We let a radish go to seed this summer, and it’s been mind-blowing. I really didn’t expect the plant to end up looking like that, nor did I expect the seed pods to grow the way they did. Plants are so weird!)
Schnookie, I know! I’m so excited to open up my beets and cucumbers and examine them closely. :D
Have you guys ever ordered anything from Wyndham Needleworks before? Is it normal for them to take a while to process your order?
Caitlin, Boomer says they can be slow if they don’t have what you orded in stock (like linen) but usually they send charts and threads out pretty quickly.
Good mornin’ everyone! How are we all on this fine Friday?!
You guys see Rudy’s Sharks fan letter this morning? Awesome. Not as great as the Ducks fan letter, but it would have been tough to top that.
I thought Rudy really nailed you andrew. That was you to a T. :P
I thought Rudy really nailed you andrew. That was you to a T. :P
I know! I am such a Prius driving wine snob!
Seriously, it was probably pretty close to the real thing. If he replaced tofu with sushi, he’d be dead on.
Of course, I’m sitting there reading that and thinking, “What’s so wrong about driving a Prius and drinking wine?” Pause. “Uh oh.” :P
andrew, you never told us that you and Rudy were such big buds.
Hub and I were wondering how things were going for you after seeing the news last night. They were painting a pretty grim picture for those working for the State of California.
Of course, I’m sitting there reading that and thinking, “What’s so wrong about driving a Prius and drinking wine?” Pause. “Uh oh.” :P
Hehehehehe…….
How is everyone today! I’m footloose and fancyfree today.
And I have a job interview on Monday! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Must not panic, must not panic, must not panic……….
Of course, I’m sitting there reading that and thinking, “What’s so wrong about driving a Prius and drinking wine?”
HAHA!! Yes, but you’re not wine snobs….there’s a very big difference there. The Prius though…I got nothin’. You gals and Earl Sleek, you all love your hybrids. (I’m actually totally jealous, ’cause I can’t afford one)
andrew, you never told us that you and Rudy were such big buds.
haha, yeah…we’re not. I’m just a big fan of his work.
They were painting a pretty grim picture for those working for the State of California.
Well thanks for the concern! But nah, we’re cool. John Chiang, the State Controller basically drafted a letter to the Governator telling him, in so many words, to go make love to himself. The controllers office is going to continue cutting everyone’s normal paychecks, Arnie will have to personally take Jonh to court to force him to stop. Thank god for sane politicians.
Myra, your job interview is going to be great! I just know it!
And if it offers any distraction, you can start clearing your calendar now — the game we’re going to be in Dallas for is Saturday, October 18, a matinee with the Avs. We figured that would be perfect for catching the game and then having a fun dinner out on the town afterwards!
Yes, but you’re not wine snobs….there’s a very big difference there.
True, true. And thanks for the reassurance. Because I might not be a wine snob, but I am a Prius snob. :P
Oh, and speaking of snobs, we had dinner last night with a friend who’s big into homebrewing (although he’s a total hop freak — his motivation as a homebrewer was to make the hoppiest beer imaginable. So then he stumbled across Stone’s Ruination, and has decided he can never top that, so he’s less motivated now as a brewer). When we excitedly reported that we had ordered a Mr. Beer kit, he seemed truly horrified. We had to spend a lot of the evening backpedaling and explaining it was just to get our feet wet, not because we were expecting some sort of gourmet product. At any rate, the lesson we learned is that you’re a much better beer mentor, andrew, than our friend here is.
And I have a job interview on Monday!
Congrats!!! Go Myra!
I hope it’s a job doing something fun! Like lion taming, or tight-rope walking. Man, circus folk get all the good jobs don’t they?
Like lion taming, or tight-rope walking.
Totally! Or playing in an orchestra. I had no idea orchestra members get so much vacation until I met Katebits.
Well thanks for the concern! But nah, we’re cool.
I’m so glad, andrew, but is there really such a thing as a sane politician?
the game we’re going to be in Dallas for is Saturday, October 18
Wahooo!!! I’ll be marking the calendar!
Mmmm….Stone brewery. Love their beers. They’re out here in CA, just north of San Diego. Maybe I should take a field trip next week!
Sorry your friend was less than thrilled about the Mr. Beer. I can see why he wouldn’t be excited about the product, but he should still be excited for you to be getting started! Like you said, it’s just for fun! Who wants to spend several hundred dollars to embark on a hobby that they might not even enjoy? That would be dumb!
And thank you! I will try to be the very best beer mentor I can possibly be. (BTW, I “racked” my stout into the carboy for secondary fermentation last night. That’s gonna be it’s home for the next two weeks. Sampled it….Sooooooo good, strong coffee and chocolate flavors. I’m beside myself, can’t wait to bottle!)
I hope it’s a job doing something fun! Like lion taming, or tight-rope walking. Man, circus folk get all the good jobs don’t they?
We’ll see! It’s supposed to be one of those salad bowl kind of things. A little office managing, marketing support, accounting, website updating for 25 to 30 hours a week. So I could still be home in the afternoon with the Kid. Also, the location would be great as well.
Of course, the very first thing I thought of after getting the call was, “Man, I wouldn’t be able to go to Stars practices during the week.” I really am addicted, aren’t I.
I’m so glad, andrew, but is there really such a thing as a sane politician?
I know! Who knew?!
Yeah, it’s pretty much just posturing by Arnold. I don’t know how it is everywhere else, but come budget time, California goes through this stupid shit every single year. It’s just such a politically mixed state. Teh gubment can’t agree on anything here.
Good luck with your job interview Myra! I’m really excited for you!
We don’t get all the cool news out of California here, so what’s up Andrew? (yes, I am too lazy to go look it up on CNN or something, when I can just have you tell me! My bad)
Schnookie, nothing wrong with being a Prius driving snob. I can’t afford one (can’t afford a car at all, and don’t really see the point in having one because I can use public transport for free. Thanks guvment! That’s the one thing you got right.), but if I could, I’d totally have one!
Good afternoon everyone! Having a good day I hope?
I really am addicted, aren’t I.
It’s time you faced facts, Myra! :D
Sooooooo good, strong coffee and chocolate flavors. I’m beside myself, can’t wait to bottle!
That sounds SO delicious! I hope we enjoy this beer-making thing, because I am so jealous of your stout right now, and the fun anticipation of it!
And Myra, the job opportunity sounds terrif!
We don’t get all the cool news out of California here, so what’s up Andrew?
The Senate can’t seem to get the State’s annual budget passed (again), so the Governor has decided to cut the pay of all State workers down to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 an hour, to save money until the budget passes. It’s causing quite a stir here….there’s about 200,000 employees affected.
Having a good day I hope?
Mine’s great! I’m on autopilot till 4:30, then I am off for a week! Woo! And you?
Hey! As if on cue, guess what just arrived in a root-beer scented box? Mr. Beer! WOO HOOO!
I’m on autopilot till 4:30, then I am off for a week! Woo!
Only at $6.55 an hour, that’s not going to be a very fun vacation. :P
At $6.55 an hour, Copperopolis is going to be the only option for a destination!
The Senate can’t seem to get the State’s annual budget passed (again), so the Governor has decided to cut the pay of all State workers down to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 an hour, to save money until the budget passes.
Lame. Completely lame.
I’m on autopilot till 4:30, then I am off for a week!
Yay vacation! Hope it’s good :D
And you?
Jetlag is getting better, which is sort of totally crap because I’m due back in Canada in 2 days. And I’ve somehow managed to bury myself in Christmas gift knitting. Hockey is only 12 days away (for me), and I’m not sure how I feel about that. But aside from that, I’m doing great!
Only at $6.55 an hour, that’s not going to be a very fun vacation. :P
hardeehar.
Yeah, I know what you mean though. Luckily, even if this thing weren’t going to get shredded by the court, they’re supposedly on track to have the budget worked out by the 15th or so. So, I probably wouldn’t notice it anyway.
That’s the spirit, andrew!
That’s the spirit, andrew!
That’s the goverment worker’s mantra: Willful indifference.
Anyhoo, youse guys excited to make some root beer?
So, not to rub it in to all you drones who are still at the office, but I’m SO happy to be home right now. That’s the only sad thing about it being August — my summer fridays are coming to an end all too soon. :(
my summer fridays are coming to an end all too soon. :(
Awww, that’s sort of sad. Can’t you bargain with your boss to make the summer fridays last until hockey comes back, or baseball goes away? Surely the argument that summer isn’t really over until baseball is done is a perfectly valid one.
Anyhoo, youse guys excited to make some root beer?
Well, I’m more excited to make some beer beer, but hells yeah! The box was redolent of root beer, and the packaging advertises that we’re going to be turning our kitchen into a soda factory. If that doesn’t put a smile on your face, what will? :P (We had a bit of a musty, rotting, exploding watermelon problem all over the counter this morning, so anything highly aromatic to combat that is a good thing. I’m going to leave the root beer box out for a little while, let it perfume the place a bit more.)
Schnookie, I’m envious still. October 18th, you say?
That’s okay, though, I plan on taking a “Summer Friday off”, just late. On October 17th. Because :cough: you’ll be here then. And that gives me the perfect reason to take off because you’re TOTALLY flying in and visiting. :cough: On the 17th.
You know.
We don’t really hear much about our state budget here. Our governor has pretty much no power, more of a figure head. (There is a Bush joke in there, but I’m not going there.) Our legislature does what they want and no one knows anything about it. :P
Hope you have a great vacation, andrew. I’m so jealous of the expected temperature. It was 108 here yesterday, with projected highs above 100 for the next week.
Mags, wow, it’s like you are lightyears ahead of us. Christmas gift knitting and hockey in 12 days! Has it started to snow yet?
Surely the argument that summer isn’t really over until baseball is done is a perfectly valid one.
I think that’ll hold up in a court of law! For sure! :D
Our legislature does what they want and no one knows anything about it. :P
Sounds like the whole EU ;)
Has it started to snow yet?
God no! It’s 72F and sunny out right now. Snow won’t be here for a while, if it comes at all this year. *sniffles* (about 70 billion people want knits for Christmas, so I figured I might as well start now, so I don’t have a panic attack in December)
Oh, Caitlin, you should DEFINITELY take the 17th off. It’s HIGHLY important that you do that. I daresay it would be a DISASTER if you didn’t. If you need me to write a note for your employer, I can do that. :P
(about 70 billion people want knits for Christmas, so I figured I might as well start now, so I don’t have a panic attack in December)
It’s so true! The handicrafter has to be in a Christmas mindset in July, or risk missing out altogether! I know the Christmas tree ornament issue of one of the big cross stitch magazines comes out in July. It’s always quite the big to-do.
If you need me to write a note for your employer, I can do that. :P
Will you write a note for my Accounting professor too? Luvyathnx.
I was just kidding about the snow, Mags!
I start working on Christmas in September, so I can understand if you are handicrafting things the need to start now. :)
Sampled it….Sooooooo good, strong coffee and chocolate flavors. I’m beside myself, can’t wait to bottle!
That actually sounds like a beer I might want to try.
(Just catching up.)
I was just kidding about the snow, Mags!
I wasn’t. I want snow, gaddamnit. But I’m headed to Switzerland for hockey and skiing at Christmas, so eff Holland’s lack of snow. (no snow doesn’t mean it doesn’t get ass cold here, btw. It’s the wind. Fuck wind)
I start working on Christmas in September
See, I totally never used to think about Christmas until at the end of November. Because that’s when my mom would break out the advent calendar with the chocolates inside. And I’d get to eat fancy chocolate for breakfast every day in December. I miss that *drives off the exit to memory lane*.
At $6.55 an hour, Copperopolis is going to be the only option for a destination!
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Woo hoo! I’m so excited about the Avs game now! Everybody mark your calendars! I think it was originally supposed to be at 2pm CST, but lately it’s saying 1pm. So keep the whole day open. Just in case.
Ooh, Mags, I know the feeling! I’m already starting Christmas ornaments (once my order gets here) as extra presents for family, etc.
I daresay it would be a DISASTER if you didn’t. If you need me to write a note for your employer, I can do that. :P
Thank you! It’s very difficult for me to take days off work sometimes, so it’s very important that when an opportunity arises, I seize it. :D
I miss that *drives off the exit to memory lane*.
Hee!
Oh, and Myra, good luck with your interview! I’m sure you’ll impress them no end!
I’m so excited about the Avs game now!
Me too! I never thought I’d say I’m excited for an Avs game…
So keep the whole day open. Just in case.
Seriously, yo! We’re talking pre-game brunch, then the game, then post-game dinner, then post-post-game-dinner drinks, then a midnight snack… :P
Mags, that’s exactly when I marked the holiday season too! Unfortunately, we keep having a difficult time finding Advent calendars that are decent. Last year the only place my mom could find one was at a dollar store and the chocolate tasted like plastic, or so I’m told. :p
Unfortunately, we keep having a difficult time finding Advent calendars that are decent.
Dude, the internet is a treasure trove of Advent calendars! Just google “German Advent Calendar” and you’ll find some really awesome ones. (Of course, we’ve never been a chocolate-advent-calendar family, so I can’t vouch for those.)
I’m so excited about the Avs game now!
Woah, SHOCKER. AVS GAME? I know the -Ookies are a pile of awesome, but it’s the AVS! You know what, whatever, you’re right. I would so go, and then ignore the game and just stare at the -Ookies all the time (I’m not a scary fangirl. Never) and ask them questions. (and then they would stab me, because I am insane)
we keep having a difficult time finding Advent calendars that are decent.
For once, I win! I can just buy them at the Chocolatier here. Want some?
We’re talking pre-game brunch, then the game, then post-game dinner, then post-post-game-dinner drinks, then a midnight snack… :P
Where are the cupcakes in that equation? I think there should be cupcakes.
(and then they would stab me, because I am insane)
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It would never come to that — we’re pacifists. :D
And yeah, Avs game. That part sucks. The Dallas home schedule in October was TOTALLY shit-tastic. It’s almost as if they don’t want us to visit at all.
I figure the Avs game is a good one because there’s almost no chance anybody that joins us will be an Avs fan. Even as their second team. :P
I figure the Avs game is a good one because there’s almost no chance anybody that joins us will be an Avs fan. Even as their second team. :P
That’s a superb point! And, since it’s just the Avs, we’ll all be happy to be socializing. If it was, like, the Devils, there would be no interaction during the game.
It would never come to that — we’re pacifists. :D
Well you know, so am I. But I get so excited about things I wish I could stab myself once in a while. Like, yesterday when I finally passed my highway code exam [4 times, people. I'm stupid] and I squeeled and clapped like some demented cheerleader. Or during camp when we had a shootout compo and I swear the goals hurt me more than the goalies in net. It was sad.
Mags, :^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Seriously, yo! We’re talking pre-game brunch, then the game, then post-game dinner, then post-post-game-dinner drinks, then a midnight snack… :P
I must say, I like the way you think. Everything revolves around food. That is the way I run my life.
Avs game is good because if you get too busy talking, you won’t really have missed anything.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes on the interview. This completely came out of the blue. I wasn’t really planning on looking for a job for a while yet. But if this is as good as it sounds, I won’t pass it up! Most of the people in the office are alumni of my alma mater and my perspective boss’ husband is a big hockey fan. So that sounds good. :)
And yeah, Avs game. That part sucks.
That is weak. That’s like last year when I was in Orange County and wanted to go to a game. The only one was a Ducks/Avs game! It was still fun, going to any game with IPB Irregulars is a good time.
I figure the Avs game is a good one because there’s almost no chance anybody that joins us will be an Avs fan. Even as their second team. :P
Good point! Do the Avs have any fans at all? I know, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, but they’re so despicable (to me) that I really do wonder sometimes.
For once, I win! I can just buy them at the Chocolatier here. Want some?
Aww, you don’t have to do that!
I’m snooping around on the Internet right now, seeing what I can find. :D
(And how do you win for once when you’re made of win, Mags? Cause you are!)
And yeah, Avs game. That part sucks. The Dallas home schedule in October was TOTALLY shit-tastic. It’s almost as if they don’t want us to visit at all.
Yeah, I’m sorry about that home schedule. Even I looked at it and went, “ehhh”.
And Myra, if you’re still around (doh, I’m completely scatterbrained today), good luck on the job interview!
The only one was a Ducks/Avs game! It was still fun, going to any game with IPB Irregulars is a good time.
IPB Irregulars are a powerful bunch, if they can make a Ducks/Avs game fun. But it’s true! Good company makes even the lamest hockey awesome.
If it was, like, the Devils, there would be no interaction during the game.
And probably for three hours afterwards. :D (Since there are no ties any more.)
(And how do you win for once when you’re made of win, Mags? Cause you are!)
I don’t often win in the availability of stuff department. I tend to have to order things from America, not the other way around :P
IPB Irregulars are a powerful bunch
Well, duh. Like we didn’t know that already.
And probably for three hours afterwards. :D (Since there are no ties any more.)
Again with the good point. Patty is very savvy today!
And probably for three hours afterwards. :D
Heh heh heh.
If it was, like, the Devils, there would be no interaction during the game.
And probably for three hours afterwards. :D (Since there are no ties any more.)
Good point. At least some of us would be crying in our beers or mojitos.
Do the Avs have any fans at all?
That’s a good point, too!
Good point. At least some of us would be crying in our beers or mojitos.
Didn’t Hank Williams write a song about that? Something about “there’s a tear in my mojito…”
Sorry. I got nuthin’.
Seriously though, I am BORED.
Didn’t Hank Williams write a song about that? Something about “there’s a tear in my mojito…”
Uh…no.
I am BORED.
Awww, I’m sorry! Think of your vacation, it’ll be here soon!
At least some of us would be crying in our beers or mojitos.
Wait, “or”?
andrew, I’m so sorry you’re bored with a capital B, O, R, E, and D. I was that way ALL WEEK. And I don’t even have vacation next week. I guess we’ve hit the dog days for reals now, huh?
Seriously though, I am BORED.
I can always fax you some of my work, andrew. :D
I guess we’ve hit the dog days for reals now, huh?
I’ve even resorted to listening to coverage of the Cowboys training camp. That is a new low for me.
I can always fax you some of my work, andrew. :D
That’s incredibly thoughtful of you!
And Myra, that’s just awful about Cowboys camp! What a nightmare!!
I guess we’ve hit the dog days for reals now, huh?
For real.
I’ve even resorted to listening to coverage of the Cowboys training camp. That is a new low for me.
Wow. O wow. I’m… that’s just… it’s just… I’m so sorry.
Uh…no.
Huh, my mistake….I coulda swore….
andrew, I’m so sorry you’re bored with a capital B, O, R, E, and D. I was that way ALL WEEK.
It’s all good. Like the old saying goes, if I wasn’t complaining, I’d have nothing to talk about!
Actually I’m not so much bored as anxious. I want to get out of here, got plans for tonight! My cousin is on leave from the Navy and is coming through town with his girlfriend. I haven’t seen him in about 3 years. We’re gonna tie one on but fierce tonight. Should be lots of fun.
I can always fax you some of my work, andrew. :D
Aww thanks!
(So I’m eating cherries right now, and I think there’s something about the texture of them that makes it impossible for me not to just shovel them in. Once I start eating one, I just want to be gobbling hundreds of them. And that’s my story.)
Once I start eating one, I just want to be gobbling hundreds of them. And that’s my story.)
God, cherries sound SO GOOD right now!
I missed breakfast and then my “lunch” entailed running a personal errand and running a business errand, and I missed lunch. A coworker is bringing back food for me right now, which is so kind of her, but I’m very hungry.
Actually, now that I think of it, I missed dinner last night, too. So I’m starving.
I don’t mind hearing about the Cowboys within reason. What I mind is the practically near-constant, 24 hours a day coverage they get on the local sports and regular news. It’s exhausting.
Once I start eating one, I just want to be gobbling hundreds of them.
Cherries will do that. Bastard fruit.
I’m knitting this purple beret (I’ll take pictures in a bit) and it was going reeeeaaaallyyyy slowly until just now. It makes no sense, but it feels like I’ve suddenly sped up. Which is awesome. And that is my story.
So I’m eating cherries right now…
I had never tried fresh cherries because I absolutely loathe marochino cherries. Then one day, my sister had some fresh ones and I tried them. I was stunned. They were awesome. Why had no one ever told me that they taste nothing like the ones in the jar?
As far as the Cowboys go, I can make the Hubbie laugh with what odd things I pick up, so it’s not a total waste. :D
Cherries are the bomb diggity. I want a cherry tree for the backyard.
So speaking of Dallas, I have a question for the Stars fans here. Shoot me straight, is Boucher going to return to form this year, or is he getting old? I’m considering drafting him, but he was such a big bust last year (I know, not his fault). It was 06-07 when he had his career year right? That wasn’t too long ago.
What I mind is the practically near-constant, 24 hours a day coverage they get on the local sports and regular news. It’s exhausting.
That is my problem, too. When the Cowboys start it’s like, Rangers, Stars, who?
Oh Pattttyyy!!! andrew has a question for you!
Caitlin, that’s terrible that you’re having such a hungry day! I never miss dinner. Or lunch. Which is how I maintain my girlish figure. :D
Mags, I love that when a project just all of a sudden seems like it’s going in a hurry. And it’s so strange how it’s just like flipping a switch!
andrew, alls I knows about Boucher is that he’s hott. I’m not sure if that’s a consideration for your draft plans.
Caitlin, I’m sorry about your lack of food. I wish I could help!
alls I knows about Boucher is that he’s hott.
Hm, yeah, me too. He fine. (and Patty’s. Totally Patty’s.)
(I’ve just been struck by the realisation that I don’t have a nr 1 NHL HAWT-ty. I am sad)
06-07 was his best year, but Boucher had 3 separate injuries last year, so it is hard to say. Could have just been a fluke. Even Mighty Heika isn’t saying what to think about the lovely Mr. Boucher this year.
Oh Pattttyyy!!! andrew has a question for you!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Caitlin, that’s terrible that you’re having such a hungry day!
Whee! My food got here! YAY!
As far as Bouche goes, andrew, if he can stay uninjured, I think he’ll do great this season, but it’s obviously difficult to guarantee that he won’t go on IR. :(
andrew, alls I knows about Boucher is that he’s hott. I’m not sure if that’s a consideration for your draft plans.
Ummm…thanks?
But of course, it is a drafting consideration. I’m going send out the e-mail: “With my 13th round selection, I’ll take Philippe Boucher, D, Stars (Hott Bitch)”
Caitlin, let me know when you have actually eaten something. Otherwise, Mother Myra is coming to force feed you.
I’m going send out the e-mail: “With my 13th round selection, I’ll take Philippe Boucher, D, Stars (Hott Bitch)”
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: That’s how you gain respect in serious fantasy hockey leagues, right?
I’ll take Philippe Boucher, D, Stars (Hott Bitch)
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: DO IT!!!
Caitlin, I’m glad you are finally eating something! Didn’t want to have to get tough with you but you can’t keep forgetting to eat, girl!!!
On a personal note, I can’t imagine forgetting to eat.
“With my 13th round selection, I’ll take Philippe Boucher, D, Stars (Hott Bitch)”
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Nice :D
Hmmm…Thanks for the input Stars fans. I’ll just have to see how the next few rounds pan out. I can still nab guys like Zidlicky, Rivet, and Seabrook right now, so I’ll hold off for just a bit.
The nice thing about Bouche is that he is hotter in person, if you can imagine that. Seriously, rawr!
Didn’t want to have to get tough with you but you can’t keep forgetting to eat, girl!!!
Heh! The past 24 hours have been very hectic. I had a couple of snacks in there, somewhere. :D

I hope everything is going better now. E-mail me if you need anything, seriously.

Oh, yes, everything’s fine! Just work and trying to do eight thousand things at once! :D You’re so sweet to me, Myra! :D
“With my 13th round selection, I’ll take Philippe Boucher, D, Stars (Hott Bitch)”
This year with the IPB Super/Amazingleague, I’m going to ask Yahoo to only draft Hott Bitches for me.

I don’t know why you would want anyone on your team who wasn’t. :P

You should totally do that. Totally. Email Yahoo, RIGHT NOW and make this happen :D
(oh look, purple beret. It wants your love ;))
Looks great, Mags.
WHY WON’T THIS DAY END?!? I have to come back and work all day tomorrow so I’m trying not to waste all my good “passing time at work” websites, like Go Fug Yourself. I just finished the last thing on my to-do list for the week. I should be allowed to go home now!
Eee, Mags! That looks fantastic!
WHY WON’T THIS DAY END?!?
I totally sympathize! It would be a lot better if everyone I keep coming in contact with would stop being a bunch of rampaging jerks….
Pookie, have you ever read Mental Floss online? That might keep you entertained, especially the mind puzzles and all that.
I used to read Mental Floss in magazine form, and I used to take their 5 question quiz every morning, but I’ve fallen out of the habit. Thanks for reminding me about it!
I love the Avs. Do I get a pardon because I like the Sabres too?
(So, just catching up. Damn work)
Mags, the beret looks great!
My day was dragging too… until I got home. :PPPPP (I just made this weird recipe that’s basically brownies with chocolate chip cookie dough on top. The problem is that the brownie recipe is really runny, and the chocolate chip cookie stuff is really, well, choco-chip cookie-ish, so it was not easy to spread the cookie dough over the brownies. I’m afraid I just basically made a cobbler, but with brownie as the fruit and choco-chip cookie as the crumble. Not that that’s a bad thing, but still…)
Do I get a pardon because I like the Sabres too?
I dunno… The Avs are pretty egregious. :P
WHY WON’T THIS DAY END?!?
Don’t ask me. Summer does strange things to the space/time continuum. And I don’t like it.
Are you still there andrew?! Sorry I missed your question. :D
I admit I’m a little biased, but I think he’ll be good this year. Last year was bad, injury-wise, but he’s played at least 70 games a year since he came to town. I think the most he missed as a Star before this past season was when he got the puck in the eye. (I looked this stuff up the other day, but I don’t remember exactly.)
He had his best year in 06-07, yes. His previous career best was the year before that. He’s gotten more and more points every year except last year. And his 06-07 goals total tied a franchise record for d-men.
This year I think, odds-wise, he should be healthy. Assuming all his problems are solved before the season starts. And it’s a contract year, so that can only help. And some youngsters are nudging him, so that might be some good motivation, too.
(Sorry you asked? :D )
Unless it’s the IPB Super/Amazing League, take him! Oh, wait. I guess I can’t have him in that league, so take him in that one, too. And I really think you should use the email you mentioned.
Oh, and if you get points for blocked shots, you DEFINITELY need him.
Do I get a pardon because I like the Sabres too?
I dunno either… Maybe. If you come to the game with us, though, you have to promise to keep it to yourself. :D
I always wonder if anybody besides me is turned off by the Chevy Avalanche commercials during the hockey season. I think to myself, would any Stars fan really buy an Avalanche?
I think to myself, would any Stars fan really buy an Avalanche?
YES! And when Hyundai (was it them?) introduced the Amanti. Who wants a car named after Tony Amonte?
Hey, look who just trotted through the yard! The buck from the future! I wonder if this means Gio’s going to be traded soon?
Are you still there andrew?!
I’m back! Sorry, had to duck out to run a super important errand. I went to Fry’s to buy a new Wii wheel for Mariokart. What? Hey, if I’m getting paid like a minimum wage employee, I might as well work like one.

Got it! I think.
Thanks for the info, Patty.
Hey, look who just trotted through the yard! The buck from the future!
Yay wildlife! (as long as he isn’t eating all the plants. Like the rabbits did to my aunt and uncle’s yard)
As for Gio, I don’t know. I fear we may be stuck with the smurf forever and ever.
What? Hey, if I’m getting paid like a minimum wage employee, I might as well work like one.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: (And you know what? Wii wheels for Mariokart use are the sort of vital thing that a person SHOULD get paid leave for.)
I remember Morgan’s mum telling me if she ever got a Ford Ranger, she’d have to have a little “Sucks!” welded on the car name logo before she’d drive it.

Good for you!
if she ever got a Ford Ranger, she’d have to have a little “Sucks!” welded on the car name logo before she’d drive it.
This makes me want to go weld “Sucks!” onto every Ford Ranger I see.

Hahaha!
Nice rack!
:^::::::::::::::::::::::: Cool picture of your dear deer. And great pics of Rollie! You should send the one of his paws to Cute Overload.
That’s what I thought, too, Schnookie!
And on that note, I’m so close to being able to go home! Have a great weekend everyone, and andrew, have a fantastic week off!
Your beret’s going to be cute, Mags!
Bye, Pookie!
This makes me want to go weld “Sucks!” onto every Ford Ranger I see.
:^::::::::::::::: DO IT!
Oh, Victory Euro Mats with the chest hair. Go ahead and sign with the Ducks, then my hate will be complete.
Hi everybody!
later Pookie, have a good week yourself!
And yes, Mariokart is that important. Man, such a fun game!!
What up, Sherry? How’s it goin?
See you later Pookie!
Hi Sherry! I’m so sorry about your visa fuck up. (also I am selfishly sad that I don’t have an excuse to go to England now) You’ll find something else, right?
You should send the one of his paws to Cute Overload.
So the entire world can see how neglectful we are of giving her mani/pedis? I don’t think so! :P (Thanks, though! And I thought you’d appreciate the rack comment. Isn’t that what everyone says when they see antlers?)
Hi Sherry!

Haha, thanks Mags. I’ve known for a couple of days now and am oddly at peace with it.
What up, Sherry? How’s it goin?
Hey Andrew! Nothing much on my end…same ol’ I suppose. How about you?
Hey Andrew! Nothing much on my end…same ol’ I suppose. How about you?
Same. About to take a week vacation though, so I got that going for me.
Sorry to hear about the visa problems. That’s a serious drag.

Oooh, where abouts?
And yeah thanks. For those who don’t know, the dream job in Manchester is no more as my visa was denied. Come on, England! I’m harmless!
Oooh, where abouts?
Just down the coast a ways, to San Diego. Getting out of this heat for a few days.
Why do the Brits hate you Sherry? What did you ever do to them?!
So sorry, Sherry! That’s terrible!
That’s awful, Sherry! Why on earth would they do that?
Why do the Brits hate you Sherry? What did you ever do to them?!
I don’t know! Asides from loving their Soap Operas, TV shows, awesome accents and awesome scenery? Maybe I loved them TOO much. They were afraid I would take over or something.
It’s okay though, Katebits warned me that Manchester was plagued by Zombies and I have to agree. Lucky escape there for me!
Katebits is a wise, wise woman. She’s TOTALLY right about the zombies. You have, in fact, narrowly avoided a TERRIBLE fate. I’m SO GLAD you didn’t get your visa, Sherry! What a relief!

I know! I’m so fortunate to have people who care and it’s a good thing she warned me before it’s too late! Where would I be without the Irregulars?

Alls I said was Queen Elizabeth is a man! How could they get so pissed? Touchy people those Brits.

I agree, Sherry. It sounds like you narrowly avoided disaster!
Stupid tags.
Sherry, what did you put on your app? I heard once that in order to be allowed to stay in the UK, you have to initially lie and say that you don’t want to, and then apply from inside the country. Which is kind of a total drag.

You know me, Mags. I have to be COMPLETELY honest about everything, which I fear was my downfall. The team in Manchester was getting some heat from their MPs because technically, our jobs could have been done by British grads. We applied for a Working Holidaymaker and should have said that we didn’t technically have a job yet and we would be there to look for one. But I said on my application that I already had a job lined up, which is what I was told to do anyways.
So yeah. Boo-hiss.
Alls I said was Queen Elizabeth is a man! How could they get so pissed? Touchy people those Brits.
She’s only a figurehead anyways! A FIGUREHEAD!
I’m so sorry, Sherry. There is no way that a Brit grad would know more about hockey than a Canadian.
(I was working on finding you some info on churches in Manchester. The son of one of our ministers just returned from living in Manchester for a year. He’s a very cool dude, so I figured he could give some pretty good advice on the area.)

Awww, Myra. That’s so sweet of you! Thank so much, that help would have been very useful. Finding a church is one of the first things I would have done while I was there.
And it’s true, the company said that they were hiring Canadians because we would know more about how to promote ice hockey. Guess the MPs missed that memo.
Of course, when I talked to his dad (the minister) he said, you know it has about 3 million people. No I didn’t! Hee! But ya gotta start somewhere. The fun part was explaining that I knew you from a hockey blog. Which got the usual response of “Wait, YOU like hockey?” Oh, well.
Thank you for excepting me regardless of my love for the Avs. Although, I probably like you team unless it’s the Rangers, Leafs or Red Wings. I hate both of those teams and refuse to acknowledge even an awesome save or goal. I used to cheer for the Avs and the Wild when I was in MN. It got a little hairy since I was wearing a Nordiques jersey. At least the Wild fans are nice to people. (ahem, Leafs, Flyers and Red Wings)
=)
Sherry, that sucks about your visa! I mean, it totally doesn’t suck that now you’re not going to get turned into a zombie by the “people” in Manchester, but still! I think those MPs are going to be ticked when the hockey program over there goes kaput because they didn’t allow Canadians in to run it right.
Good evening, IPB!
Victory Euro Mats has his hand on a Thomas Vanek card in the one picture. I’m very glad that he didn’t pick Vanek’s card. Too many heads would explode in this town if Mats came to town.
The fun part was explaining that I knew you from a hockey blog. Which got the usual response of “Wait, YOU like hockey?” Oh, well.
HAHA! Steph and Elly have been in TO a couple of times and I have a fun time explaining to my friends that I met them through hockey blogs. People know I like hockey, but not to the point where I have a blog.
I think those MPs are going to be ticked when the hockey program over there goes kaput because they didn’t allow Canadians in to run it right.
Dang straight!
That is…if they’re even aware that hockey exists there.
Ookies, could you let me know if you get the e-mail I sent you? I’ve had some trouble sending it out.
