Today, August 17th, may have seemed like just another nondescript Summer Sunday. But here at stately IPB Manor it was one of the most exciting days of the year, right up there with Opening Day, Stanley Cup Awarding Night, Christmas, Schedule Day, and ANTM Make-Over Day. Today was “Putting Pumpkins On Fenceposts Day”.

Putting Pumpkins on Fencepost Day is a much-anticipated event here. We grow the pumpkins for the express purpose of putting them atop the posts of the garden fence to celebrate Autumn and Hockey. If the pumpkins are on the fence, it means either hockey is right around the corner or… we planted our pumpkin seeds too early. So, let’s see, what’s today’s date… August 17th. August 17th?! What the… [Does the math] Opening day of Training Camp is still 33 days away. Uh… We’ll still go with option one. Because we would never start seeds too early.
