We’re watching the Stars broadcast of the Dallas/Los Angeles game tonight, and midway through the first period, they have a little rundown of the HOF inductees. After going through the list, Daryl Reaugh decides to toss in his two cents about Doc:
“I told Doc when I worked with him about a week ago that there are a lot of guys that go in there on longevity, it seems like. I mean, great broadcasters themselves, but it seems more longevity than anything else. For him it is just pure excellence and professionalism.”
Ralph Strangis adds:
“You’re right. I mean, you could not meet a nicer man. He is the epitome of class and a guy that we all look up to. Congratulations.”
We enjoy a respectful pause filled with “Hear, hear!” sentiments, and then Boomer concludes the exchange:
“And all you stupid fans who don’t like him can suck it.”
So there you go. Boomer’s thoughts on Doc Emrick: the epitome of class.
