Gentle Reader, we will not be on hand this evening for the Devils/Senators game because we’ll actually be at said game. We know! It’s shocking! But we’re going to brave the outdoors and New Jersey Transit as we endeavor to convert one of Pookie’s coworkers from a baseball fan to a hockey fan. You know, I haven’t said anything about this attachment to the Flyers, but you do understand, the only thing worse would be secretly rooting for the Rangers? I mean, Bobby Clarke (oops, sorry, he wants to be called ‘Bob’ now) is the man who was actually able to stand there while he was still GM of that team and explain that, no, really, he wasn’t asking for goalies to be forbidden from playing the puck outside the crease because his team had trouble beating Martin Brodeur.
I realize that he’s no longer the GM, but you do know that about 6 weeks after he ‘resigned’, he re-appeared with the organization in some undefined VP role. I bet his wife realized it was either that or he was going to be home all the time, and I doubt he’d been home for any length of time since she married him. I imagine a phone call from Mrs. Clarke to Ed Snyder saying “He needs to be back at work and soon, or there will be a homicide…and you don’t want the publicity.”
I have no problem with a few of their younger players but then again, I think there are a few harmless people on the Rangers, too. I won’t root for them.
Oh, well, they really still don’t have a goalie. Either Biron or Nittymakki could implode at any time. Or both.

I’m not sure about the Bruins. I kind of feel like they’re for real enough that I just can’t hate them, for my own good. But there are SO MANY things about them that I hate. That said, I really like Chara and Lucic. And the fact is, I had a playoff tranny marriage to the Ducks just on the strength of Getzlaf, so I’ve obviously enjoyed teams for less than what the Bruins have to offer… It remains to be seen how things are going to work out with our Tranny Gentleman Callers. :P
It was fun! We had kick-ass seats, so we were way up close to the boys. They looked pretty dreamy, if not particularly good at playing hockey.
