Tonight we had a terrible realization at stately IPB Manor. It was identical to the moment in a mob movie where the hard-working, blue collar guy, who started out doing minor footsoldier stuff for the mob but with only the best and most honorable intentions, realizes he’s in too deep. It was during the early minutes of tonight’s Flyers-Capitals game, when the Caps scored quickly off a faceoff on the power play. Niittymaki played the sequence as badly as Biron did in blowing that game last weekend against the Pens. And as disappointment settled like a blanket over our living room, Pookie had just this to say:
“I can’t believe I’m being heartbroken by Flyers goaltending. I thought I was in control! I thought I had a handle on this! But it turns out I didn’t. I never should have gotten involved with them. I should have known with how this season was going that this was where my liking the Flyers was going to lead.”

Of course, I had to make a comment at the very moment you post something new!
The mob movie metaphor is fitting. Generally, the hard-working, blue collar guy in question is in for some trouble when he realizes his mistake. I hope you can get out of this dangerous situation without anyone getting hurt!
I hope you can get out of this dangerous situation without anyone getting hurt!
Me, too! Sure, you have the skills and the connections to wreak your revenge at the end, but it’ll be a sad, hollow victory, what with your wife and kids all being dead.
I noticed your comment on the other post, Grrrreg! In fact, I’ve been sitting there hitting refresh and wondering where you’d gone. It should have occurred to me that maybe you were… at our new post, perhaps? :P
And yes, it never ends well for the hero of the tragic mob movie, and I can’t imagine tranny marrying the Flyers is going to lead to any kind of happy ending for us, either.
Sure, you have the skills and the connections to wreak your revenge at the end, but it’ll be a sad, hollow victory, what with your wife and kids all being dead.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: But our wife is a transvestite Flyers team! These metaphors are starting to mix very confusingly… :P
Anyone want some cigarettes? I’ve got a few hundred cases that, uh, fell off a truck. *shifty eyes*
Anyone want some cigarettes? I’ve got a few hundred cases that, uh, fell off a truck. *shifty eyes*
:^::::::::::::::::::::
I don’t know if it’s really too late. I mean, you laughed when Biron did his special trick this weekend, right?
Anyone want some cigarettes? I’ve got a few hundred cases that, uh, fell off a truck. *shifty eyes*
Wow. That’s cheap! You just found them, huh? Lucky break!
I mean, you laughed when Biron did his special trick this weekend, right?
Ummm… Not right off the bat. Yes, we eventually did laugh, but it wasn’t like that time Cechmanek skated out during play to berate his bench in Czech. Man, I feel like my love of the Tranny Brides has robbed me of the joy I could have felt over that Biron moment! (Although my annoyance at the Pens getting the win would have outweighed the laughter anyway.)
Wow. That’s cheap! You just found them, huh? Lucky break!
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I mean, you laughed when Biron did his special trick this weekend
Um… Look at that hobo!
Actually, I laughed a brittle, brittle laugh. After the game. I’m in too deep. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m supposed to meet The Koala down by the docks at midnight.
Next you’ll be taping bricks of coke to your legs and then being surprised that the Columbian airport checks for those things.
Next you’ll be taping bricks of coke to your legs and then being surprised that the Columbian airport checks for those things.
They do???
Colombian, I mean.
WOOOOOOOOO! what a play! they kill a 2 minutes long 5 on 3 and Plekanec scores right out of the penalty box…
Either airport, Patty. Colombian or Columbian. I am taking it I shouldn’t tape bricks of cocaine to my legs at either place.
Good point, Schnookie. Even the Columbus airport probably frowns on it.
Clank indeed! You guys are so far gone! I love it!
Even the Columbus airport probably frowns on it.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::: You know who loves it, though? Saskatoon. They have weird standards there.
kristin, I think we’re farther gone than you are about the Flyers this year! :P (Of course, you’re making up for it with the Habs…)
Hmmm, where did you get all those good tips about how to carry cocaine, Patty?
Oh yeah, you have surpassed me. Although they are starting to draw me back in with their sucky ways the past few games. I guess I’m just a sucker for a loser…
Yeah, Patty seems suspiciously well-versed in the daily ins and outs of drug trafficking.
I guess I’m just a sucker for a loser…
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It’s like the puppy that’s so ugly it’s cute. :P
Or the ragdoll kitten that’s so ugly it’s cute. Oh wait.
Yeah, I think I like the drama.
(By the way, I always forget the term ragdoll kitten and want to call it a sugarfoot kitten.)
Or the ragdoll kitten that’s so ugly it’s cute. Oh wait.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::: In that analogy, the Flyers are going to turn into a beautiful swan! Or at least, a really awesome cat with a great fur coat. Also, sugarfoot kitten? :^::::::::: (I really want another cat, by the way, so that I can name it Beaker.)
(By the way, I always forget the term ragdoll kitten and want to call it a sugarfoot kitten.)
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: And that wasn’t a case of “so ugly it’s cute” — that was straight-up Ugly Duckling. I mean, he was so ugly it was a CRIME. Then he grew up cute. :P
By the way, I do not approve of the liberties the Caps are taking tonight with On-The-Go. He’s taking lots of nut shots tonight, and I’m afraid that might hamper his ability to be on the go all the time. Then how will Farter know which teammate he is???
(I really want another cat, by the way, so that I can name it Beaker.)
She’s not kidding. She’s, like, measuring Mahmoud for his little kitty casket and embroidering a new kitty Christmas stocking for wee Beaker.
Maybe instead of Beaker, we should name the mythical new kitty (*glares at Mahmoud*) “On the Go”.
Mahmoud: “Go ahead. Name the cat On The Go. He’ll get hit in the nuts all the time.”
She’s not kidding. She’s, like, measuring Mahmoud for his little kitty casket and embroidering a new kitty Christmas stocking for wee Beaker.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Poor Mahmoud! Maybe a better solution would be to rename one of the other cats Beaker?
Then how will Farter know which teammate he is???
Farter always knows.
She’s, like, measuring Mahmoud for his little kitty casket and embroidering a new kitty Christmas stocking for wee Beaker.
That’s so wrong…and yet so funny.
Maybe a better solution would be to rename one of the other cats Beaker?
The only one I’m willing to rename is Shopdog, and she’s already well established as a dud. That will never fly. :P
Maybe instead of Beaker, we should name the mythical new kitty (*glares at Mahmoud*) “On the Go”.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Mahmoud: “Go ahead. Name the cat On The Go. He’ll get hit in the nuts all the time.”
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
STOP! STOP! You’re killing me with all the visuals!!!!!
Farter always knows.
Even over the blinding glare of his blond hair and white teeth. And deep whisper.
That’s so wrong…and yet so funny.
Heh heh heh. Mahmoud’s like, “Yeah, it’s funny because it’s not you!” :P
Farter always knows.
It’s pretty much the only thing he knows.
While Mahmoud may not be on the go, which Flyer is? I’m so confused…
Halak is on fire! allright, it’s more than time to go to sleep…
good night everyone!
G’night, Grrrreg!
Amy, On The Go is Scottie Upshall. Jeff Farter answered some SI culture grid Q&A thing in which he was asked what teammate could star in his own soap opera, and what would it be called. He answered Upshall, and it would be called “On The Go” because “he always seems to have something on the go.” Oh-kaaaaay.
I think the dumb dancing guy from the Devils games, the one who takes off all those t-shirts, is working this Caps game tonight. That’s monumentally lame.
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Go Trannies! Every goal they score against the Caps makes me that much more comfortable about burying headless and handless bodies out in the woods!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! TRANtastic!!!!
i know it is better for the devils conference standings if washington loses, but i just find it hard to actually cheer for the flyers…in fact, what i really enjoy is watching their goalies give up soft, crappy goals… :D maybe i need professional help…
Hmmm, where did you get all those good tips about how to carry cocaine, Patty?
Just a guess. *shifty eyes*
don, tonight you got the best of both worlds — soft, crappy goal by Niittymaki, and then the Caps losing. Heh.
Oh gross. Gaustad and Getzi just knocked each other into next week and Getzi’s spitting blood.
Goose just made Getzi’s face explode!
WHAT?!!? Nittymaki played?? AND WON!?!
I dropped him because he never played! Crap!
Patty, you HAD to know after that misplay by Biron on Saturday that he was NOT going to be starting again until Niittymaki proved himself incapable of being the Number 1. Which should be in about… *looks at watch*… 15 minutes.
So you’re saying I shouldn’t pick him back up?
I’ll be honest with you. I forgot he was a Philly. I never made that connection.
No, probably not. He is a Flyers goaltender, and it is that time of year.
i wonder if the devils put clemmer on waivers if the flyers would claim him and play him?…just a thought…sorta like a milk or OJ carton at the shoprite, clemmers relationship with the devils is about to expire as it starts to go sour… :D
You know how, on the Yahoo NHL page, they show roster alerts for you? And they’ll say Player X has been dropped by 500 teams?
ALL THREE of my goalies are on that list right now, with hundreds dropping them today.
sorta like a milk or OJ carton at the shoprite, clemmers relationship with the devils is about to expire as it starts to go sour… :D
HAHAHAHAHAHA! And there the Flyers are thinking, “Hey, the expiry date on that milk isn’t so long ago…”
ALL THREE of my goalies are on that list right now, with hundreds dropping them today.
Ouch. That’s brutal.
All right! IPB is back on the air…
Hi Steve! What’s up? Sorry about the game tonight, but I think it’s a mere bump in the road…
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I know, kristin, right? That was AWESOME! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pleasant and surprising. I actually had to go to work and missed the third period, and when I left the score was 2-1. Rod called me to tell me it was 4-2….WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
(And my tranny brides had a shutout! wooooo! I love hockey!!!)
It’s a great night for hockey, isn’t it? (Except for the Sabres, of course…) The third period for the Trannies was AWESOME. I loved it. I mean, Arron Asham? What a pleasant surprise!
Yay hockey! Yay Asham! Gotta love Asham. What’s his nickname? Ashy? That doesn’t sound right…
I call him “Mr. Pleasantly Surprising”. Especially when he’s dipsy-doodling around all the Caps on the ice. Heh.
I call him “Mr. Pleasantly Surprising”.
That’ll work. Maybe Mr. PS for short.
Good morning, IPB!
Except for the Sabres, of course…
I just keep reminding myself that NJ and Vancouver have managed to keep chugging along despite losing their #1 goalies during the season. And it’s only one game so far. But if the Sabres lose against Carolina on Friday, it will be on like donkey kong.
And the report this morning is that Goose broke Getzi’s nose.
Good morning, everyone!
Amy, you have to give the “losing the starting goalie” thing a little time. It took the Devils a few games to find an even keel. I think the Sabres will totally get their shit together, but Rome wasn’t built in a day! Give them at least three games! :P
Poor Getzi! Not his beautiful nose! Heh.
Poor Getzi! If only I’d told him before the game I liked the way it looked, he wouldn’t have gone out and skated smack-dab into the shoulder of the biggest Sabre on the ice! *shakes head sadly*
If only I’d told him before the game I liked the way it looked, he wouldn’t have gone out and skated smack-dab into the shoulder of the biggest Sabre on the ice!
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
So I am totally in deep smit with Mike Richards today after watching the Tranny Brides’ postgame video stuff. They gave the Caps, like, 10,000 shorthanded chances, and when he was asked about it, he rolled his eyes and sighed that is was “Breakaway City”. Dude! Do the Devils get fined for saying stuff like that? Am I putting Beaker on a pedestal just because he’s more personable than I’m used to? Or do the Devils just not find shorthanded breaks against them funny? Hm.
I bet Getzi totally had issues with his nose and was punishing it the only way he knew how. He’s… not very smart.
Am I putting Beaker on a pedestal just because he’s more personable than I’m used to?
You’re putting Beaker on a pedestal because he’s made of rad-i-cal and is everything you could possibly want in a hockey player. I think that’s fair enough. *happy Beaker sigh*
do the Devils just not find shorthanded breaks against them funny?
I don’t see how. I know they’re not fun, but a zillion of them? That many shorthanded breaks is (are? I dunno) never not funny.
Pookie, he’s a Flyers captain. He’s going to let us down. You’re in too deep!!! :P
(He’s dreamy. I think the Devils should trade for him. The Flyers need a goalie and, um, a big body for the fourth line. Right, that’s the ticket. Let’s give them Clemmer and Holik.)
Pookie, he’s a Flyers captain. He’s going to let us down. You’re in too deep!!!
You’re right! I need someone to splash me with water and slap me like in Airplane.
That many shorthanded breaks is (are? I dunno) never not funny.
Hee! Exactly! It really was Breakaway City out there! :P
Pookie, he’s a Flyers captain. He’s going to let us down. You’re in too deep!!!
(He’s dreamy.
Never was there a faster shift in tide, than one with the -Ookies and their Tranny Bride.
Mags, :^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It’s a very turbulent relationship.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It’s so true, Mags. So true. :D
CLEMMER GOT SENT TO LOWELL!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was about to make the exact same announcment, Pookie, but wordpress ate my comment! bad wordpress!
And good for the devils!
MARTY’S BACK BABY!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME!!!!!! OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH *FREAKING OUT*
The air smells sweeter, the birds sound prettier, food no longer turns to ash in my mouth!
what the hell is wrong with wordpress?! Now the page won’t load properly. IPB looks all crappy that way!
I almost feel bad for Clemmer. I know he is nefarious, but still, that’s a little harsh.
WordPress is just really excited that Clemmer got sent down!
WordPress is LOSING ITS MIND! It’s SO psyched for Marty coming back! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly never thought I’d make it to this day. Back in November, it seemed impossible.
And to put everything in perspective, a plane crashed just before landing at Schiphol airport this morning. Sad.
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! It’s nice to come to work and see good news to start out the day with. Although now I will need a new scapegoat, I was even going to blame Clemmer for my house refinancing deal falling through so now I’m not sure what to do. Hopefully the next we hear of Clemmensen is when he becomes the new starting goalie for the Flyers *ducks and runs from Tranny Bride fans*
So I just called my mom to tell her the good news, and all she had to say was “poor Clemmer”. I love my mom, don’t get me wrong, but I seriously think she’s got a brainsucker or something.
I was even going to blame Clemmer for my house refinancing deal falling through so now I’m not sure what to do.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I hadn’t considered applying the Clemmer failure to things outside hockey… (And for the record, I would be PERFECTLY happy to see the Flyers pursue Clemmer. That would be HILARIOUS. They might be my Tranny Brides, but I do, deep in my heart of hearts, still recognize that they’re the Flyers. :P)
I love my mom, don’t get me wrong, but I seriously think she’s got a brainsucker or something.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I know my mom won’t respond that way! Heh. She’s going to be celebrating in the streets.
Boomer will probably do backflips!
Although now I will need a new scapegoat
And finally, Shanahan will come in handy!
And finally, Shanahan will come in handy!
HAHAHAHA! And Holik. Don’t EVER forget Blobby. :P
Huzzah for the return of Marty and the demotion of Clemmer!!
I just got my chuckle for the day as Randy Carlyle is calling for the head of Goose on a platter for his hit on Getzi. Thinks it’s suspension worthy. Dude, both Goose and Getzi were looking for the number of the truck that hit them. No need to punish Goose because Getzi’s snout got broken.
Getzi wasn’t looking where he was going and skated smack-dab into Goose. Shut up, Carlyle. (And honestly, Ducks, you’re going to call for a suspension just because Goose’s shoulder was skating right where Getzi’s nose was trying to go? Isn’t that the Pronger Elbow defense all the time, that it’s not his fault people keep skating into him? :P)
Hee. It’s like Carlyle forgot that what’s good for the Goose should also be good for the Pronger.
And why was Getzi’s nose deciding in what direction its owner would skate. Did it smell a hot dog?
Carlyle has a lot of nerve calling for suspensions when Pronger got suspended for all of 1 game for stomping on someone’s foot as the Ducks cheated their way to the Cup a couple of years ago.
It’s like Carlyle forgot that what’s good for the Goose should also be good for the Pronger.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
So, Pookie and Boomer got me a bottle of eiswein for my birthday last year. I totally love the stuff, and very rarely get to drink it, so Boomer went to the swanky wine store in Princeton and just asked if they had any. They went to great trouble to haul down this tiny little bottle from a high shelf, and were all, “Oooh, this is so delicious.” So she was all, “Great! I’ll get that for Schnookie!” They wrap the bottle up all artistically, then ring it up, and, of course, it’s OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. At that point, though, she felt bad to not buy it, so that was my centerpiece birthday gift. Since it’s basically a bottle of liquid gold, though, there’s been all kinds of pressure to find the perfect time to drink it. We thought at first we’d toast the new hockey season with it, then we were saving it for Election Day, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years, then Inauguration Day, and so on. We keep either forgetting to open it, or having something go wrong on the day of choice so we decide it’s not special enough. I think, regardless of how he plays, or whether he blows out his groin, or the team implodes, or whatever, Marty Starting Again Day is the day we drink the eiswein.
And that’s my story.
Marty Starting Again Day is the day we drink the eiswein.
Sounds like the perfect time!
I knew you’d understand, kristin! (And obviously, our standards aren’t very high, considering that “Habs and Devils both sucking on the day we’re hanging out with Kristin” Day involved fountains of prosecco. It doesn’t take much to get the spirits flowing at stately IPB Manor. :P)
Pookie and Boomer got me a bottle of eiswein for my birthday last year.
I’ve only ever had the Canadian stuff and it’s good. I can’t imagine what the real stuff from Germany tastes like.
Marty Day is a good day to crack open the bottle and raise a glass.
I figure EVERYTHING will taste like molten gold today, so it’s the best day to most relish every ridonkulously expensive drop. :D
Hey, just wanted to drop in and say congratulations on Clemmer going to the minors and MARTY COMING BACK!!!
Wahoooooooo!!!
Hub, if you are reading this from home, I guess that answers your question about whether or not to move Marty into the starting position for the Ice Trolls.
(And the Kid is feeling better, Hub took her to the Dr today and she has a throat infection. I asked her about her throat and she said it was ok. Apparently, she has a high pain threshold. Go figure.)
Awww, I’m so glad the Kid is feeling better today! What a trouper.
And my fantasy advice about Marty is that anyone who has Devils skaters on their rosters should bench them now. I bet our offense dries up completely now. :P
Yeah, we wondering if they were already going into a “Marty is coming back” slump.
Yeah, we wondering if they were already going into a “Marty is coming back” slump.
It’s hard to say. I mean, this is the time of year they traditionally slump anyway, so is this the March Swoon, or is it a Marty letdown? It’s gonna be so exciting to find out in the coming weeks! :P
Also, going back to a little earlier, the whole Goose/Getzi hit suspension is ridiculous! Coming from the Ducks, it’s down right ludicrous.
And if you want a good laugh, check out the Caps new fan club for female fans called the Scarlet Club. I had a little extra time yesterday and saw it on Puck Daddy. It is hilarious. From the brothel decor to the “Glamour Shots” styled player head shots, it is atrociously funny.
I refuse to give Club Scarlet the web traffic. Just on principle because it’s the Caps. :P (I have no problem with beefcake player pictures, but why can’t they just be on the regular site? I mean, I’m a normal fan, too, along with being a chick. Oh well. If that’s what it takes to get more of the fairer sex aboard the bandwagon, I guess good for them. Why the new lady fans can’t dig through the regular website for beefcake pictues, I don’t know, but who am I to question? :P)
No alix around here? I thought she would have liked to watch 21 273 people booing the hell out of a certain bald Swedish center now playing in the western conference.
She wants to have his bald babies now! She’s probably there taking on all the booers. :P
HMPH! Flippin Habs fans! They’re just jealous that Vancouver was Mats Daddy’s first choice!
And yeah, bald is beautiful, what can I say? :D
That game was so annoying. Jaro make meeny saves and ween (TM Four Habs Fans)
YAY for Marty day!!!! WOOOOOO! Your franchise goaltender coming back is the best day evah! Just don’t cry too hard when he stinks up the joint the first game. It’s unsettling I know, but it will all work out.
Club Scarlett is horrifying. The boys aren’t even that fetch. And they’re in the cheeziest poses.
The boys aren’t even that fetch. And they’re in the cheeziest poses.
Exactly.
I’m serious when I say they looked like Glamour Shot poses from the early 90′s. Not that I would know anything about having a Glamour Shot from the early 90′s. (Shutup, Hub.)
Definitely do not qualify as beefcake photos. And, yes, they didn’t have much to work with to begin with. They are seriously deficient in the looks department. Poor things.
Just don’t cry too hard when he stinks up the joint the first game.
I’m bracing myself for that, but I figure Marty stinking up the joint is still 10,000 times better than Clemmer stinking up the joint, as he has been lately. :D
And yeah, the fact that the beefcake pictures on Club Scarlet are, well, the Caps makes it a lot less appealing. They are not as good-looking a team as some Caps fans would try to make you think. :P
Not that I would know anything about having a Glamour Shot from the early 90’s. (Shutup, Hub.)
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I figure Marty stinking up the joint is still 10,000 times better than Clemmer stinking up the joint, as he has been lately. :D
A very good point! :)
Wow, that Club Scarlet website is so classy. I think they took their inspiration from Miss Scarlet from the Clue movie. Dayum.
Sorry, but if that’s a site for women hockey fans, why do they have a “Hockey 101″ link and a “MEET THE PLAYERS” link?
I have no problem with beefcake player pictures, but why can’t they just be on the regular site?
The Sabres still have the b/w beefcake glamour shots from the first post-lockout season on their website. And the “official” team photo is of the boys in nothing more than their underarmour, pads and breezers. That’s marketing to the ladies without blatantly marketing to the ladies.
I’ll have to check Club Scarlet out when I’m at how. Something tells me it might not be the most SFW site out there.
Caitlin, I thought the same thing. Hockey 101? Really?
I was thinking Miss Kitty’s saloon from Gunsmoke at first then went straight to flat out brothel. They just need to figure out how to make the red wallpaper look flocked.
So with the news that Clemmer was demoted and Marty’s coming back, I declared that nothing could bring me down today. Then I came in to work and had to explain to one customer that “New Jersey Monthly” does, in fact, come out every month, and explain to another that when you hit “Place My Order” on Amazon.com it does, in fact, place the order, and then my friend here at work took one look at my new picture ID and said, without batting an eye, “Wow, you’re going to need to get that reshot.” But still! Nothing can get me down!
Amy, the Sabres sound like they know what they are doing. I’ll have to check it out at home as well. :)
That’s marketing to the ladies without blatantly marketing to the ladies.
Exactly! I don’t see why that’s so hard! We’re not a hard bunch to market to! Just put a few Goose-with-tin-can commercials on during a game and give us the occasional post game interview with Zach, and we’re all good!
Hockey 101? Really?
Check out the ‘Downloads’ section. Hilarious wallpapers.
then my friend here at work took one look at my new picture ID and said, without batting an eye, “Wow, you’re going to need to get that reshot.”
Woahhhh. Kudos for you for not letting it get you down today! And yay for Marty coming back… I bet y’all are super stoked. The news story about Marty coming back was at the top of my Gmail the other day and I thought fondly of y’all.
Something tells me it might not be the most SFW site out there.
Well, there’s nothing blatantly NSFW on there – no dirty pictures, nothing like that – but your coworkers might think you’re checking out an escort service.
Yeah, I’ll take the Canucks behind the scenes pictures any day over those over the top beef cake pictures. I mean, props for thinking of the ladies in particular, but low marks for execution. Maybe if my name is Tiffany and I spend an hour in the tanning salon every week and I go to Caps games because my honey bear boyfriend has season tickets and I keep showing my push up braed tits off to Mikey Greenie.
Pookie, do you want me to come to Jersey and punch your friend at work in the face? Heh.
Aww, guys, I just met with my boss (who is totally not a sports fan), and he asked me if Devils tickets would be a good gift for me. That’s so sweet! Of course, it set me off on a rant about what a complete drag it is to go to games, and he backtracked, “So I should stick to La Maison du Chocolat instead?” I love my boss. :D
“So I should stick to La Maison du Chocolat instead?” I love my boss. :D
Aww, what a nice guy! That’s so cool AND he gives you La Maison du Chocolat stuff. Damn!
In a random note: Yay, my potatoes shipped today! Now I just have to figure out what to put them in.
Pookie, do you want me to come to Jersey and punch your friend at work in the face? Heh.
Well, the story becomes a little less dramatic if I explain that the coworker is one of those friends with whom I have a “be brutally honest at all times” set-up with, you know? Also, the picture really does suck. Of course, I didn’t give the camera much to work with either…
Oooh, potatoes! Sweet! Our first onions sprouted; gardening is in the air! Actually, we should probably figure out what we’re doing with our potatoes soon, too. There was talk of trying out the garbage can method this year.
Pookie, alrighty. That makes more sense. But if you change your mind… :D
There was talk of trying out the garbage can method this year.
My fear is that they won’t get enough sunlight! I’m such a worry wart.
Here’s how awful I am: I haven’t started any seedlings! In fact, I just now ordered a bunch of seeds online. But we’re doing tomatoes, onions, a herb garden, potatoes, beans, zuchinni, yellow squash and pickling cucumbers. And raspberries, to add to the blackberry vines.
I’m thinking next year if I play my cards right, I can just tear up our infinitesmally small backyard and plant corn. (Overdoing it? Me? No never. :D)
Our first onions sprouted;
Ooh, what kind of onions did y’all get? I stuck with the Texas 1015 Granos because naturally they grow well down here, but I’m curious to know what y’all are growing.
And Pookie, I am sure you brought a whole lot of good things to that picture! It was just the camera that was stupid! Stupid cameras.
Caitlin, tearing out the backyard for corn is a BRILLIANT idea! Corn takes up a lot of room, yo, but it’s so worth it! :D
And other than tomatoes, there is nothing in your seedling list that you really SHOULD start as seedlings. You can direct-sow all of that stuff. We had great success direct-sowing onions our first year, but have struggled with it since, so that’s the only reason we’re doing seedlings with them. I think the squirrels tended to dig up our onion rows when they were just seeds. It sounds like it’s going to be a bounteous year at Casa Caitlin Farm!
I think the squirrels tended to dig up our onion rows when they were just seeds.
Those bastards! Who do they think they are? (I have turned into Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, clearly. Okay, a sweary vodka-soaked version of Rabbit, but you get the point.)
I ordered the onions in bunches this year, so they come ready to plop in the ground. I’m lazy. :D
It sounds like it’s going to be a bounteous year at Casa Caitlin Farm!
Ooh, I hope so. And I can’t wait to see pictures of all y’all’s stuff. Thank god you guys are my gardening crack-dealers…er, I mean, gardening friendly people who give me advice. :D
OH, and your quilts look good! I’ve been meaning to tell y’all that forever. Stupendous work, ladies!
a sweary vodka-soaked version of Rabbit
Heh. That’s a great addition to any children’s story.
I was reading an article (in a marketing e-newsletter of all places) that said that the demand for seeds this year was twice the demand it was at this time last year. I guess more and more people are trying to grow their own produce now that the economy is in the tanker.
I kind of want to grow tomatoes this year and maybe a fun vegetable of some kind. I just need to negotiate with the parentals for space in the backyard.
Ah, the life of a gardening crack dealer is pretty good! :D Your list of crops sounds awesome! Corn is my all-time favorite plant to watch grow, so I think you should definitely grow some. The only reason we don’t do it anymore is because it takes up a whole bed for, like, three servings of corn. As for the onions, we’re growing Australian Brown and Yellow of Parma onions. They’re supposedly good storage onions but nothing too fancy. I’m super jealous you have blackberry canes. I love blackberries but feel totally guilty when I get them because it means Schnookie and Boomer toiled in the farm fields for a PYO crop only I eat. I think putting in one cane would produce just the right amount and would be guilt-free because I could do the picking.
I’ve also read that ornamental gardening supplies across the board are taking a big hit, but the vegetable gardening industry is booming. I think that’s SO cook. Of course, it’s utterly ridiculous that anyone would think they’re going to save money by growing their own produce, but still. It’s a good thing to see. :D
And thanks about the quilts, Caitlin! Pookie’s motoring along doing the binding on her Nest quilt, and I started the binding on my Jellygirl one last night. They will be actual, bona fide, for reals finished within a week or so! WOOOO!
Pookie, you should totally get some blackberries. Put them in along the garage or something. That way we’ll have enough to make cocktails and stuff. :D
I think putting in one cane would produce just the right amount and would be guilt-free because I could do the picking.
I’ll put it to you this way – I have blackberry vines – two actually – and they are just now starting to really grow, and I planted them eight or nine months ago. But yes, well worth it. So far, aside from the really slow growth, I paid $8.00 for two plants and they’re low maintenance.
Y’all really might have better soil for them though, I’m not sure. (My soil’s pretty sucky.)
As for the onions, we’re growing Australian Brown and Yellow of Parma onions. They’re supposedly good storage onions but nothing too fancy.
Ooh! Those sound really neat… I’m just growing the stock standard onions you get in Texas grocery stores. But Parma! Australian! How fancy and exotic! Heh.
(Also, I recently discovered that there is a variety of tomato called ‘Cosmonaut Volkov’ tomatoes. Guess we know which variety I’m planting next year…)
Of course, it’s utterly ridiculous that anyone would think they’re going to save money by growing their own produce, but still. It’s a good thing to see.
I lost money on all my crops last year except for carrots. We rarely buy carrots, and I made stock and shepherd’s pie out of the carrots we pulled out of the garden, so I saved money on that. But that was it.
Actually, the guy who runs Get Rich Slowly does a gardening project where he shows how much money he saves by doing a garden, but they grow a LOT of stuff.
They will be actual, bona fide, for reals finished within a week or so! WOOOO!
Hooboy, I cannot wait to see them! They’re gonna be GORGEOUS! I’m envious now. It’s time to blackmail my mother into making a quilt for me.
Also, I had heard the vegetable seeds thing, but one of the other things I’ve noticed is the skyrocketing interest in “Depression cooking”… especially on food blogs and the like. It’s interesting in kind of a sad way.
Of course, it’s utterly ridiculous that anyone would think they’re going to save money by growing their own produce
Totally ridiculous, but so much fun to see stuff sprouting from the plant. I mean, I don’t start my plants from seeds or anything, but it’s still fun to see that first tomato blossom or pepper bud pop out.
I’m always so jealous when you all start talking about your gardens. I wish they would open up the rooftops in my complex and we could have little gardens there. That would be so neat.
My balcony doesn’t get nearly enough sun.
Go for it, Amy! Just let us know if you need us to send letters to your parents detailing all the ways it will make their backyard that much awesomer! You can do tomatoes and peppers in containers, which might be fun and easy and non-permanent! :D
I wish they would open up the rooftops in my complex and we could have little gardens there. That would be so neat.
Maybe you could ask your building manager or write a letter? That’s a great idea!
Just let us know if you need us to send letters to your parents detailing all the ways it will make their backyard that much awesomer!
Word! Just remind your parents how awesome the whole backyard will smell from tomato plants in the summer. :)
Maybe you could ask your building manager or write a letter? That’s a great idea!
Yeah, trust me, not going to happen. We’re not even allowed on the roof. My building management is not at all responsive. :(
My balcony doesn’t get nearly enough sun.
That’s just killer. We’re the only house on our street that has enough sun for a really good garden. When we first moved in, it was like, “Bummer! Everyone has nicer trees than us!” Then we realized what that meant, and we were like, “SUCKERS!” Heh.
I think we’ve figured we save money on our pumpkins, our carrots, and maybe our onions. Oh, and definitely the herbs. For a while we thought we saved money on our garlic, too, but then we placed our order last fall and were like, “Yeah, no. That’s not a cost saver at all.” You really do have to plant a lot to save anything. And not spend anything on taking care of the plants. Heh. But there is a whole lot of other value to a home vegetable patch beyond just monetary savings (real or imagined); that’s why it cracks me up so much when it’s presented as a frugal solution. :D
We have two raspberry plants that are AWESOME producers, so I’m pretty excited to see what blackberries can bring to the table.
Actually, the guy who runs Get Rich Slowly does a gardening project where he shows how much money he saves by doing a garden, but they grow a LOT of stuff.
I was looking at that the other day but, yeah, he was growing a lot of stuff and a lot of stuff that I don’t want to grow. Yeah, growing lettuce saves money. I don’t want to eat that much lettuce! I figure we save on the onions, the tomatoes, the raspberries, and the herbs. Maybe the garlic. Everything else? No way on Earth are we making back what we spent. Hm. Maybe the peppers, now that I think about it. We do get a lot of peppers.
Just remind your parents how awesome the whole backyard will smell from tomato plants in the summer.
That’s so true! Tomato plants are the BEST for that!
That way we’ll have enough to make cocktails and stuff. :D
Just remember that you can’t eat anything below a metre above the ground (animal pee and all that), and under 50 cm below the canopy (bird poop). At least, that’s what I’ve been told.
You can do tomatoes and peppers in containers, which might be fun and easy and non-permanent! :D
I’m doing that this summer! Just because they taste richer than anything out of the store.
Just remember that you can’t eat anything below a metre above the ground (animal pee and all that), and under 50 cm below the canopy (bird poop). At least, that’s what I’ve been told.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yeah, I’ll just keep on ignoring that. And washing my fruits before eating them. :D
And I have to complain here that I am having the hardest time focusing today. I think it might be because of either the Springtimey sunshine we’re getting or maybe Marty coming back. I’m not sure. But either way, I’m a TOTAL spazz.
that’s why it cracks me up so much when it’s presented as a frugal solution.
God. I don’t even want to think about how much I spend on the garden. I mean, the seeds and everything aren’t a killer. I think I spent $60 this year on seeds/plants for this spring and this summer, but I wonder how many people realize that once you add in organic, natural pest killers, extra soil, ladders and trellises, etc. it gets expensive.
But there is a whole lot of other value to a home vegetable patch beyond just monetary savings (real or imagined);
So true – because the personal benefits last time around were worth every penny and then some.
We’re not even allowed on the roof. My building management is not at all responsive. :(
What jerks. Seriously? Wow. I don’t know what to tell you, then, Meg. If you don’t get much sun, you uh…could grow lettuce? :(
I love the idea of having my own berry plants. I would want my own currants, because those are hard to find in the (non-fancy) supermarket and I love them. Red currant jelly is my favorite.
I’m fascinated by currants. I read last year that they’re starting to make a comeback, and are actuall deer-resistant. They’re also apparently wrongly considered invasive by a lot of communities, though, and I’m too lazy to look up whether we’re allowed to grow them. I’d love to have, like, a currant hedge along the front of our yard.
If you don’t get much sun, you uh…could grow lettuce? :(
Heh. I could be the best little lettuce garden in Village View. (I think I’ll stick to flowers that only need partial sun.)
There are community gardens in New York where you can rent yourself a little plot but it just seems like too much to me.
There are community gardens in New York where you can rent yourself a little plot but it just seems like too much to me.
Yeah, that’s a pretty big commitment. I love the idea of community gardens, but I know I’d be WAY too lazy if gardening meant going further than 15 yards away from my couch.
I’d love to have, like, a currant hedge along the front of our yard.
When I was in high school we had an exchange student from Germany and my sister and I went and visited his family in Germany. They had a lovely currant hedge all along the side of their driveway and his mother made currant jelly and cakes with currant in them and all sorts of delicious stuff.
Of course they also had a fantastic vegetable garden (we also had cake with homegrown rhubarb while we were there) and gorgeous roses growing all over the place. It was incredibly charming.
I just watched a baby giraffe born in HD! It was so disgusting!
Meg, that sounds like a wonderland. No matter how nice our garden gets, it’s not that nice. I’m totally impressed by people who can have lovely yards like that. And lifestyles. :D
Heather, I thought we warned you — DON’T EVER WATCH ANIMALS IN HD!!!
The problem with animals in HD is that you never know when they’re suddenly going to give birth. And that’s a traumatic thing to have to see in glorious high resolution on a 56-inch screen. Stick to sports. :P
You did warn me but I didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late!
You did warn me but I didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late!
That’s what she [the mama giraffe] said!
You can do tomatoes and peppers in containers, which might be fun and easy and non-permanent!
I’m stuck with container gardening, as my parents did this odd stone border around the back lawn that covered up where a little garden patch used to be.
And my mother could care less about how tomatoes smell. She can’t stand them in anything other than ketchup. I, thankfully, do not have that problem.
CapsChick said: Someone should hire an exterminator – I think there’s something living in Hartnell’s hair.
:)
I’m totally impressed by people who can have lovely yards like that. And lifestyles. :D
I just chalked it up to the whole being European thing. They’re town has an apparently-famous rose garden (next to a castle, of course) so everyone in town just buys their roses there. But it was impressive.
Hartnell’s hair is terrifying. Hartnell in general is pretty terrifying, come to think of it…
Oh, but Hartnell’s kitchen! Be still my beating heart. :P
I just chalked it up to the whole being European thing.
Hm. I guess that’s where I keep coming up short. That sounds just heavenly, though.
I just watched a baby giraffe born in HD! It was so disgusting!
Matty says how dare you say such a thing! Giraffe births are beautiful, especially in cabs. :D
A guy in Vancouver recently had his house broken into by the RCMP, thinking he had a grow up going on. It turned out he was just growing tomatos. Heeheehee. Boy were they red fsced.
A guy in Vancouver recently had his house broken into by the RCMP, thinking he had a grow up going on. It turned out he was just growing tomatoes.
Ha, that’s hilarious!
I just chalked it up to the whole being European thing.
We’re all mad here. Mad about gardening apparently.
Y’all (I think it was Caitlin, but I’m too lazy to go up and check. Sorry!) were mentioning pesticides/fertilizer/whatever earlier. My mother doesn’t use any artificial stuff in her garden, just the compost heap she has going in the back of the yard and no pest control. And she’s never had any problem with bugs or things not growing. It’s purely out of laziness, but it seems to work for her. But as always, your mileage may vary, and your climate is not our climate.
We’re all mad here. Mad about gardening apparently.
Heh. I meant the whole lifestyle more than the gardening really. Not that all Europeans garden but that it was a kind of neighborhood, house (old and formerly on postcards), etc. that’s, well, not how middle class Americans live. So I didn’t mean that Europeans all live like that, just that Americans don’t. And I don’t know if I’d describe it as mad–it seemed very sane. :D
It seems to me that the “victory garden” sort of mentality still exists a bit more on the other side of the pond than here. That there was a lot less of a divorce from that way of life after WWII than there was here. But… I’m probably making that up. :P
Heather, I think you should watch MORE animal births in HD! Did you see that “Planet Earth” series on National Geographic/Discovery Channel last year? They had some beautiful photography that could only be appreciated in HD.
And they had some HIDEOUS bugs and stuff that could only be appreciated in HD. (My favorite segment was the lizards that get some sort of parasite that invades their brain, then makes them crazy, then kills them and crawls out of their head. EWWW!)
The only thing growing in my yard is henbit right now. And I am paying a service to keep that from happening!
But I did see the daffodils blooming in the medians near my office today! Spring is almost here! (And it’s 80 degrees.)
Where is everybody? I was looking forward to y’all helping me kill time while I wait for my
beatercar to get the brakes fixed.Daffodils?! Already?!?
Dude, daffodils? That’s AWESOME! We’re still MONTHS away from that.
And I’m sorry I abandoned you, Patty. I’m killing time watching Jeopardy before the Rangers game starts (while I’m tivoing the Tranny Brides to watch when Pookie gets home). Life is so hard.
Yes, Pookie! Fully grown!
I wasn’t counting all the new flowers in the parking lot beds, because the landscapers just dug something else up and put those in, but the daffodils come up in the same place every year, around the trees in the median.
A house at the other end of my block is starting to get irises, I think. They were coming up, but no blooms, last week, so I assume they’re blooming now. I should probably check.
(I was just kidding. You don’t have to entertain me if you’re busy. :D )
As it turns out, my car is already ready. They even washed it for me! I didn’t even ask them to! They probably did it so they wouldn’t get so dirty working on it. That’s how dirty it is.
I had to get a battery for my key fob. It’s the second time in the life of the car I’ve had to replace it. That’s how old it is. I SO need a new car.
No problem, Schnookie! I was just kidding. And now I have to abandon you since my car’s almost ready.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yeah, they were ashamed to be seen in your car. JUST LIKE I WAS! (I’m kidding. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with your car, other than your loathing of it.) (And Boomer just had to replace her key fob battery, and her car is an ’05. That’s not an indicator of anything! :P)
Schnookie
The problem with animals in HD is that you never know when they’re suddenly going to give birth. And that’s a traumatic thing to have to see in glorious high resolution on a 56-inch screen. Stick to sports. :P
and i suppose that having to watch blobbie blolik in HD–unibrow and all–is no improvement and just adds to your discomfort :D
Hm, don, you make a good point. Blobby is TOTALLY an argument against broadcasting hockey in HD.
Woooo!!! Gardening talk. You are making want to plant things. But I’m sure the feeling will pass. :P
We do have daffodils blooming. They are about the only flower I haven’t killed in our flowerbeds.
Stay strong, Myra! Plant! Plant! Plant! :D
why it there no hockey on Ash Wednesday?
On by no hockey, I mean any that I’m interested in.
The only thing I have growing is a baby pot plant! Hee! Kiddin.
Hey here’s a laugh for you tranny lovers. A trade that ESPN thinks the Canucks and Tranny Brides should do. I think I soiled myself laughing and then blw a clot.
“Flyers need goaltending and a true 3rd line center. Flyers send Briere, Biron, Jones and a 1st round pick to Vancouver, for Luongo and Kesler and a conditional pick. Briere would waive his no trade clause because his best friend Biron is going with him.”
alix, you’re so bad. :P
And that trade makes SO MUCH SENSE! How could they not do that? (That’s like my favorite Sabres-fan proposed trade after the lockout. The theory was that Lou had bungled the cap situation, and the Sabres had too many starting goalies in Crunchy and Biron. He said Lou should send Marty and Colin White to Buffalo for Crunchy and Biron. That’s so hilarious on so many levels that I frequently like to ponder the marvelousness of someone committing the notion to the interwebs for all eternity. I mean, GENIUS!)
And mcguffers, the game I want to watch has to be tivo delayed for Pookie. And Sid’s not playing for the Pens, so I’m not watching that (nor am I getting it in HD), I didn’t realize the Sharks and Wings were playing, so I’m stuck with Rangers/Leafs. Go Leafs go.
He said Lou should send Marty and Colin White to Buffalo for Crunchy and Biron.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Magical! What a giant sized doofus!
I actually kind of like the Leafs this season. Mostly because of the power of Luke Schenn.
Schnookie, my tv remote is somewhere over there, so right now I’m watching a documentary about the royal family. They’re talking about ceremonial swords right now. When was I watching PBS last?
My favorite thing about trade rumors is that they always seem to favor the team the writer is rooting for. “I think the Lightening would be retarded to pass up a trade of Afinogenov for Lecavalier.”
Magical! What a giant sized doofus!
Hee hee! I still can’t stop working it over and over in my head. The massive delusions necessary to think that Lou Lamoriello, facing a cap crunch, goes, “I know! Brodeur! That guy’s contract is KILLING us!” Heh. Heh heh heh. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry. It just makes me laugh so hard. I sometimes really love stupid people.
And as for Schenn making you like the Leafs, isn’t it great when there’s one guy who has the power to make you enjoy a whole team? *Gazes dreamily at Mike Richards*
alix, I didn’t get to watch the Habs/Canucks game last night, but what the heck happened in the second period (i think?) with the 123 penalty minutes all at once? I know the Habs are all coked out but what the?!
I always love the people who rail against their team’s GM for not getting somebody like Luongo.
We should trade Lehtinen and Sydor for Lecavalier. The Stars have a good relationship with Tampa, they’d be getting two guys for one, Lehtinen is darn good. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it!
I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it!
Because they’ve got their hearts set on Lecavalier for Gionta and Andy Greene. :P
I know the Habs are all coked out but what the?!
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
“I know! Brodeur! That guy’s contract is KILLING us!”
HEE HEE! Oh yeah! He’s an albatros around Lou’s neck for sure!

I love that about hockey. *Gazes dreamily at Luke Schenn and also at Milan Lucic and Zdeno Chara*
and also at Milan Lucic
He’s pretty much the only reason I like the Tranny Gentleman Callers. :D
alix, I didn’t get to watch the Habs/Canucks game last night, but what the heck happened in the second period (i think?) with the 123 penalty minutes all at once? I know the Habs are all coked out but what the?!
Oh god! The reffing in that game was absolutely BIZARRE. I hate when people bitch about reffing when their team loses, but seriously, these refs were off their rockers. There was a mini line brawl. Shane O’Brien somehow got a third man in and a 10 minute misconduct, even though he has already fighting, and it was a Hab that jumped in. Somehow the Habs didn’t get a two many men for having like 8 guys on the ice to the Canucks four. Alex Burrows got 5 minutes and a game misconduct for putting his stick up to brace for a hit with Brisebois.
Did I mention they washed my car? If they’re trying to sell me a new one, that isn’t going to help. Because now mine looks new. Except for the cracked windshield. And the surprisingly-minor scratches on the back from when I backed into a light pole.
He’s pretty much the only reason I like the Tranny Gentleman Callers. :D
He’s like the perfect human. *dreamy sigh*
Washing your car is such a good way to stymie the new-car urge. I just had mine done, and I’m like, “Why Pando! Who knew you were such a dashing little car?”
So now you can get a new laptop, Patty!
The reffing in that game was absolutely BIZARRE.
That’s where the Kostitsyn brothers’ mob ties come in to play. (the Sabres have got NOTHING on the Habs. There’s only so many times you can hear that Roy and Connolly are big ol’ man whores. Habs are like, “Lame. Get back to us when you start stealing women’s accessories, bitches.”)
Dude, Leafs, how do you give up a PP goal to Wade Redden? This game sucks.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah the Habs are all “Yeah, ok, Matty we see your cab threesome and raise you prostitutes and vodka from the mob.”

Oh, and while we’re on the topic of Athletes behaving responsibly… My new favorite sportscaster joke is, “they should trade for Plaxico Burress cause at least he shoots.”
Yeah the Habs are all “Yeah, ok, Matty we see your cab threesome and raise you prostitutes and vodka from the mob.”

Yup. They all get to the curling rink and then, because they’re inside, they can take off their burqas. And that’s when they discover that some of them are in business attire and others are in pajamas.
Yay! Nik “Crazy Legs” Hagman! I love that guy.
If he were still a Star, I might be eyeing him for my new favorite these days.
This game’s kinda fun.
I am SO excited that the Rangers have a new coach, but same old result. Heh.
They probably figured the Leafs would fit right into their Cinderella story. Nik Hagman says no.
Thank you, Leafs. Thank you so much. Hagman, your dollar’s in the mail. :P (We should totally start a No, Habs No movement for the Pens and Rangers, shouldn’t we?)
(We should totally start a No, Habs No movement for the Pens and Rangers, shouldn’t we?)
We should!
We should totally start a No, Habs No movement for the Pens and Rangers, shouldn’t we?
but, but, but… can we just let the Habs stay in? Honestly, they’re more self destructive than they are dangerous to anyone else. Can we just substitute the Panthers?
I’m ambivalent about the Habs, mcguffers — they’re welcome to stay in the playoffs as far as I’m concerned. :D I’m just thinking we should start sending thank you notes and a dollar to every player that scores a game-winner against the Pens and Rangers, like those Sens bloggers do for people who beat the Habs.

Thanks! I swear you won’t be disappointed! They’re like an awesome reality show, full of drugs, hookers, mobsters, cleptos, manic depressives, etc…

They better either have a really good day job, or switch to pesos, cause that could get expensive.
