There is nothing to watch on television tonight. How is this possible? Isn’t this supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year? Screw you, playoff scheduler.

Does it help if I remind you that you weren’t exactly enjoying the games when they were on? :P
That said, I’m DYING for a Pens/Canes game.
These playoffs have been sucking for about a week now… =/
Does it help if I remind you that you weren’t exactly enjoying the games when they were on? :P
These playoffs have been sucking for about a week now…
These are very salient points. As soon as we hit “publish”, I was like, “Of course, if there WAS hockey on, it would be Wings/Hawks or Pens/Canes. I guess it’s fine that it’s not on.” SIGH.
Part of me wonders if the NHL scheduled things this way so as not to go up against the Idol finale. On the one hand, that’s really showing awareness of the TV landscape. On the other hand, I can’t believe they really would do that.
I think they finally listened to our pleas for them not to schedule Devils games on Wednesday nights, when Pookie’s at work. Of course, it’s too little too late. Thanks for NOTHING, NHL!
I am stuck biding time until the basketball starts by watching a terrible Barbra Streisand movie on TCM. I may be scarred for life. :P
Oooh, yikes. Not Barbra Streisand! Unless it’s What’s Up, Doc? — that one is awesome.
I’m not even going to tell you what I’m watching. It’s too embarrassing.
I love “What’s Up, Doc?”. This? Is no “What’s Up, Doc?” It’s “For Pete’s Sake”, and it’s terrible. There’s a reason, I think, that I had never heard of it.
(And with that teaser, how can you NOT tell us what you’re watching?)
I will give this movie some credit — it’s from 1974, and the fashions look FANTASTIC. Every single outfit in it was adorable. The farther away from the ’70s we get, the better they look, right? :D
I remember that movie when it was new! I had a crush on the weird guy that played her husband, because he starred in The Reincarnation of Peter Proud which was made from a book I loved at the time. And that’s my story.
Well, TCM is doing a festival tonight of the weird guy that played her husband. This is the first of three of his movies that they have on tonight. (No, I can’t go back and check the other two. The basketball has finally started.)
Does she have little fluttery short cap sleeves and scoop necks on all her shirts?
My crush was very short-lived so I’m stunned that he warrants a festival. :D
I’m watching a TiVo-ed Stars game where they lose embarrassingly to the Panthers. Happy? You made me admit it. :P
Actually, there were some deep v-necks and cute boot-cut/bellbottom-y jeans. Cute patterns. It all looked synthetic, though. :P
My crush was very short-lived so I’m stunned that he warrants a festival. :D
Well, it’s three movies. It might be a retrospective of the entirety of his career, come to think of it. :P (He was pretty charming and cute. I’ll give him that.)
And that is QUITE embarrassing for you to be watching! I’m sorry I forced it out of you! :P
It all looked synthetic, though. :P
Of course!
(I think I was thinking of Marcia Brady.)
On the rare occasions when I watch basketball, I am amazed anew that this sport is more popular than hockey. This is so dull! It’s almost as dull as baseball!
I switched over to baseball after this game was over and they were discussing the reasons that the Tigers’ ballpark has a dirt strip from the pitcher to home plate. I almost fell asleep right then!
Oh god. The dirt strip from home plate to the pitching mound. Blah blah blah. I know why they have one — throwback aesthetics. MOVING ON, BASEBALL ANNOUNCERS! Heh. (It is astonishing to me that people can watch baseball on tv. I realize it’s fun in person, but on tv it’s only marginally better than golf. I just… don’t get it.)
I was into it for a scant three seasons. But I drifted. Now I can’t get back.
Yeah, I had one or two summers where I watched baseball because there wasn’t any hockey on, but it couldn’t hold my attention longer than that. Zzzzz…
Even talking about it is boring. :P
(I’m watching the Stars lose to the Coyotes now. Heh.)
Wow, you’re really a glutton for punishment, aren’t you? Pookie’s due home any minute now so we can turn on Mythbusters. That’ll be a nice reprieve from this stultifying basketball game.
I should have gotten Paul Blart: Mall Cop at the BBV when I went to the grocery store, but I was all, nah! I’ll find something to watch! How naive I was!
Okay, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” is NEVER the solution.
Well, then I don’t know what is! :P
How’s the basketball game going? Are the Mavs winning? Oh, wait.
Patty, :^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: And it looks like the Cavs have things well in hand. We’re watching Mythbusters now, and all is good in the world. :D
Hey, did I mention that I’m on vacation now?
WOO HOO! It’s nice of you to join us vacationers! Isn’t it nice?
It’s DELIGHTFUL. I’m free! Free to spend all day tomorrow quilting!
that mythbusters was awsome
and before mythbusters Food Network had Good Eats (my favorite Food Network show) on from 8-9 I think it is on 8-9 every weekday.
I’m in rehearsal RIGHT NOW. Just thought you should know.
That Mythbusters WAS awesome! I absolutely could not believe that the physics of the myth worked. I mean, sure, the girl died, but the rest of it? Was CRAZY!
And Katebits, I’m SO impressed with your dedication to your craft. Heh. I’m sitting on my couch listening to a playlist I’m putting together for a road trip Pookie and I are taking in a few weeks and stitching. Life couldn’t be better. :D
My vacation doesn’t start until tomorrow and I’m thoroughly jealous of all you vacationers. Particularly because the kitchen was out of milk this morning and I had to have soy milk with my granola. Not nearly as satisfying. :S
I loved last night’s Mythbusters! I like the episodes where the whole gang gets the “Holy Crap” face during an experiment, and there were at least three “Holy Crap” face instances last night.
Can anyone out there in blogger land, especially WordPress users help me out? I can not figure out how you post an entry that shows the begining of said post, and then has a link to click on to view the entire post. This would work out great for me the days I post the answers to my puzzles.
I feel so clueless about modern tech noe that I am blogging. Its like I am the interwebs answer the the old guy yelling at the kids to slow down with their new fangled contraptions.
Particularly because the kitchen was out of milk this morning and I had to have soy milk with my granola.
EWW! That’s awful! I can’t even imagine! (I had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. It was delicious and nutritious.)
I like the episodes where the whole gang gets the “Holy Crap” face during an experiment, and there were at least three “Holy Crap” face instances last night.
I love that too! And yeah, the whole gang was having a BLAST with the one last night. It was just wild! It was a very satisfying Mythbusters, in short. (And honestly, I really didn’t expect it to be that good at all.) (I think my favorite “holy crap” face was when Adam tried the little model for the first time and made the little dummy fly up and hit the light. That was hilarious.)
As for putting a “continue reading” break in your posts, we have a formatting button marked “more” on our post-writing page. When we get to where you want the break, we hit that button. I don’t know if all the templates have it, though. I would suspect so, but I can’t make any promises. :D
(I had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. It was delicious and nutritious.)
Sounds good to me!
Oooh, sounds like I have something good waiting for me on the DVR with Mythbusters. I was watching the Idol extravaganza and missed it.
I’m jealous of all you people that get vacations starting today or tomorrow. I have to be a good little worker bee and work tomorrow. Here’s hoping my benevolent despots let us out early.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you, Amy. They’d be no kind of benevolent despots at all if they didn’t let you out early! (My office’s summer hours are in effect now, so I would have been leaving early tomorrow anyway. But dammit, I want a five-day weekend for my birthday bacchanal!)
I’m so far into my vacation, that I just got out of bed. Heh.
Morgan, just a heads-up: When you preview your post after using the MORE button, it doesn’t really show. You have to post it for real, before you can see if it worked. (This frustrated me the first time.)
That Mythbusters was pretty cool (I watched the replay in the wee hours). I felt sorry for the “little girl” even though she was inanimate. :D
I’m so jealous of all you vacationers! I don’t know when we’ll be taking one again. But I am taking off Memorial Day. I haven’t had a day off since I don’t know when! 3-day weekend! WOOO!!!
Patty, I can’t believe you rewatched those Stars games. A good winner perhaps but losing to the Panthers and Coyotes? That is just too painful.
I’m jealous of myself. Of course, this is kind of a working vacation — I’m close to being done with Squaresville, but not REALLY close. But for some reason I’ve decided I want to bust my ass this weekend and finish it. So I don’t know why I’m typing right now instead of stitching! :P
So when is your birthday, Schnookie?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Pierre McGuire is a finalist for the Wild’s GM job. Between this and Patrick Roy possibly coaching the Avalanche the NW is going to be wacky. Our goalie captain is looking freakin normal in comparison.
Happy almost birthday, Schnookie!
My birthday’s a week from today, but we always just celebrate it on Memorial Day weekend. The fact that Memorial Day is early this year is really throwing me off…
And thanks, alix!
As for the NW being all wackadoo, I guess it would only be fitting then if the Canucks kept pace with everyone else by doing a Mars-esque dance of death with the Niederdicks. :P
Well, Happy Birthday Celebration Weekend, Schnookie!
Pierre as GM of the Wild. I can’t even fathom it. alix is right, if that happens with the Roy thing… totally nuts in the NW.
This could be fun for us, however.
EEEEE, HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY, SCHNOOKIE!
::throws confetti and vodka::
alix, you may want to sit down for this one. CNNSI is reporting that the Trannies may be interested in Luongo and (rights to) Matty O in exchange for Farts and some other TBD dudes.
If that happens, that would be the cherry on the NW ridiculous cake.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, confetti and vodka, y’all! :D
I read that about the Canucks/Farts trade earlier this week. *Shakes head in amazement at the whole Flyers scene* That team. They’re never dull, that’s for sure. Gotta love having a circus built into our division, too. Heh.
Trannies may be interested in Luongo and (rights to) Matty O in exchange for Farts and some other TBD dudes.
WHAT.
:O
alix, you may want to sit down for this one. CNNSI is reporting that the Trannies may be interested in Luongo and (rights to) Matty O in exchange for Farts and some other TBD dudes.
LOLS!! I’ve actually come to terms with Matty leaving. His locker day cleanout interview was very…final and closey sounding. But this trade Lui thing confuses me. Although Farts does give me quite a ladyboner. Hockey wise and otherwise :D Those wacky Flyers.
Although Farts does give me quite a ladyboner. Hockey wise and otherwise :D Those wacky Flyers.
Seriously. And I’m so sorry about Matty, alix. I’d have to say, though, if his goodbye present to you was convincing the Flyers to give up on an uber-foxy 24-year-old 40-goal scorer in exchange for one year with a cap-busting goalie who’s never won anything in the playoffs and one month of being able to negotiate with a pending UFA… well, that’s quite a goodbye present. Heh.

Thanks, Schnookie. HA! Word. Matty knows how to treat me right.
And hey, the search for a new favourite might be kind of fun, eh?
You’ve got so many good options to choose from!
alix, I have a little suggestion for you.
Taylor Pyatt!
Taylor Pyatt!
Taylor Pyatt!
Taylor Pyatt!
Taylor Pyatt!
You’ve got so many good options to choose from!
I know! I really do. My team is kind of stunning. Right now I’m pondering whether I’m more a Bieksa or Edler girl. Heh.
HAHA. Pysie is a sweetheart. And stunning. He’s a rad penalty killer. But he’s also a UFA. I need a hockey boyfrien with a lil more…security.
Bummer.
I can’t believe the Birthday Bachanal is already upon us! This year has FLOWN by!
Happy almost birthday, Schnookie!
Thanks, Patty! And it really does seem like I was having my last birthday bacchanal just yesterday. I mean, tomorrow is my first farm pick-up of the season. I barely had time to be anxious for it! It just totally snuck up on me!
Speaking of your farm pickup, how long do chopped onions last in the freezer? I usually buy one onion at a time, and they’re always nuclear-sized so I started chopping the whole thing and freezing the leftovers, but I don’t know how well they hold up. They sure stink when I open them, though. :D
This time I bought a little bag of 6 that are normal sized and I thought I might chop them all at once, then I’d have chopped onions whenever I wanted them.
(I got the original idea from you, of course.)
I’ve kept chopped onions for up to six months. I go through them pretty quickly, actually, so it may not have been that long at all… Hm. Anyway, I think 3-6 months is probably a pretty safe bet. (Be sure to double-bag them — that way they stink less. :D)
You were nice enough to give me the double-bag advice last time and that was a life-saver. :P
Maybe I’ll put them in a little tupperware-type thingy, THEN into a ziploc.
Sigh. I’m in mourning because my main contact at my best client is leaving for a new job, today is his last day.
I don’t know how many of you work for suppliers (agencies, etc) but it is an amazing thing to have a fun client and a really, really good contact person there, a person who only complains when they have a right to complain, who watches the budget but doesn’t argue with you about every nickel and dime and who actually talks to you about their business. That was this guy.
I am going to miss him. This is worse than NJ losing the way they did, at least for me. And that’s saying something.
Maybe I’ll put them in a little tupperware-type thingy, THEN into a ziploc.
That might be overkill. I mean, who wants their tupperwares tied up in the freezer? :P (We can tell it’s farm season again here because our tupperware cabinet is busting at its seams now that we’ve eaten basically everything I froze last summer and all those tupperwares are empty.)
That’s a bummer, Sue. I’m sorry.
