Candy corn makes me sick while the Rangers losing has a calming, healing effect. Higgins scored and Looch didn’t maim anyone, so this game gets a positive sounding “meh” from me.

And for you ladies on Looch Watch, there’s a Free OnDemand HD channel that has a category for G4 (the gamer’s channel). There should be a show for EA Games which is a promotional “competition” between Dwight Howard, Sacha Kljestan, Venus Williams, and a certain kitten-gnawing Bruin where they each take a turn sort of playing each other’s sport. Your boy has a nice soccer kick, but almost killed a camera guy with his tennis serve.

Alrighty then…let’s get this show on the road!

Okay, a few things:

So just like every year I have a team in each league, since commish is required to have a team no matter what.

I have placed Schnookie in the Superleague and Pookie in the Amazingleague. That way they can keep an eye on both leagues and give updates on the blog without having to guess what’s going on in the other league. You two got assigned to those leagues because they’re the opposite from your assignments last year, and it’s important to see how the other half lives.

Anyhoo, that’s it. I’m gonna do it just like last year: I’ll put the names of the 10 EC drafters in the random number generator(tm) and then the same for the WC drafters. I’ll post the official time-stamped lists in the comments, 1-5 will go to the Amazingleague, 6-10 will report to the Superleague. Sound good?

So I’m back from the Rock! The Baby Rags beat the Baby Devs 4-3 in a shootout. The Devils led 3-2 going into the last five minutes of the third, but Matt Corrente took a really stupid boarding penalty to reduce a 5 on 3 to a 4 on 4 and the Wolfpack scored a shortie with less than a minute to play. In the OT Corrente also pushed the net off its moorings so obviously that Hartford was awarded a penalty shot. McKenna stopped the PS, but could only stop 2 of 5 shooters in the shootout.

The kids looked sharp (for Lowell). Each D-man had fits of goodness and fits of bad, bad, bad. McKenna, who is in camp as a tryout for the Devils, got outplayed by a Trenton Devil goalie (not a good sign).

The best guy on the ice for the Devils was Michael Swift. He’s a smallish center who killed penalties, won draws and had two unassisted goals. Halischuk stood out positionally as well.

I also sat a row above Schere, TG, and Sherry Ross and one section over from Scott Stevens who takes notes as intensely as he played hockey.

:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Our game started with Clarkson yapping at Avery on the opening draw, and I was pretty close to wanting to switch to the Bruins/Leafs game. I have, very seriously, been dreading having to get back on board with the Devils this season, but much to my surprise, apparently my love for them is VERY deep-seated. I’m all like, “Ahhhhh. Devils. I’d say I’ve missed you, but we both know that would be a lie. But I am happy to see you again.” (It won’t last. :P)

I still have a lot of repressed feelings. I was excited for hockey when I bought my tv, then I remembered just how gawd awful some of the games were last year. My father and uncle want to visit me for the Sabres/Leafs preseason game. My first reaction was, “Eh, I guess. Meh, maybe Komi will play.”

And apparently the Bruins were told to practice their penalty killing tonight.

Heh. I hit rock bottom last night when I honestly believed I was excited for 29 teams to start the new season, and the Devils… well, not them. But, having just watched Clarkson score on Lundqvist on the power play in front of a sparse Newark crowd, I’m like, “It’s everything I love about fall!”

Some Leaf just scored. There was a fight too. Neither Looch or his pretty blond punching bag are playing tonight, but Bergeron is there. Rrrrrrarrrgh.

Sadly, that’s actually my thinking right now. I knew they probably wouldn’t want Looch and Komisarek reigniting their rivalry in preseason, but I was at least hoping Komi would play tonight. Neither of them are playing and Ghosthunters is on in 8 minutes, so I don’t think I’m making it past the first period.
