I just saw the score and thought, “Oh no! They ARE pooping in their pants!” But yeah, Meg is SO right. The Canucks have the Leafs right where they want them. My experience says you DON’T want to have a two-goal lead on them going into the third.

I’ve been telling myself for the last 15 years that there’s the chance the roof of Madison Square Garden will collapse during a Rangers game, but I have yet to see it happen. But that doesn’t stop me from tuning in just in case. :P

Well, that’s all well and evil-genius, assuming the signed players aren’t bringing albatross contracts with them. The Ducks must be like, “Wait, someone’s giving us a live body for Giguere’s contract and we don’t have to include three first-round picks? For reals???” Meanwhile, I’m so excited to get to see up-close and personal what a total pile of puke Phaneuf is now that he’s in the EC!

(I will say, as a hockey fan who’s getting bored with this season, I do appreciate that Burke isn’t afraid of making big moves. And as a person who hates Burke and likes laughing at the Leafs, I also appreciate that Dion Phaneuf is no Scott Niedermayer. I knew Scott Niedermayer. Scott Niedermayer was a friend of mine… :P)

Oh, wait. I suppose Burke thinks of Phaneuf as his Leafs version of the Pronger deal in Anaheim. I suppose that’s a bit more apt than him being the Leafs version of the Niedermayer signing. So it’s much more Pronger-y, but minus the “actually being a good hockey player, albeit a dirty one” part.

The Sabres PR guy just tweeted that this deal makes live even more entertaining for the league on a couple of levels:

1. Ottawa/Toronto games will now feature a Carrie Underwood/Elisha Cuthburt undercard.

2. Avery and Phaneuf now get to play each other four times a year. That’s a lot of sloppy seconds and revenge for said sloppy seconds.

Ok, y’all have been watching the Pens/Det game, did you see the picture they showed that said “Name that little Squirt?” I thought they said that it was The Flower but I wasn’t sure if they were serious or joking. The kid as sooo geeky adorable, I was hoping it really was Flower. Can anyone confirm?

You know what I hate the most about NBC hockey? (Okay, it’s what I hate the most after Pierre, Milbury, the way they seem not to like to focus on the actual play, the way the play-by-play is always running at an unrelated murmur as if in the background, the lack of replays, and the fact that it’s expressly geared toward people who don’t watch hockey, but that’s beside the point.) I hate that I always feel like, when the game ends unsatisfactorily (as they always seem to), I feel like I should be able to slip on some garden shoes and just traipse outside to putter in the garden. I feel like I should have to spend the next half hour filling and carrying watering cans around the yard, and tending to burgeoning plants, or even picking early crops to get started making dinner. But when NBC hockey is on in January, I HAVE NONE OF THOSE THINGS. That’s what I hate. (Like I said, among other things. :p)
