You know, when this season started, if you’d told us that our favorite series with any opponent in the league would be the one with the Pens, we would never have believed you. But as it’s shaken out, if we could have had 82 Devils/Pens games like the ones they’ve played so far this year, we’d take it.
That said, we wrote this open letter to the Devils during the second intermission:
Dear Devils,
When the officials are gift-wrapping a game for you, there is only so much they can do. You have to actually score on those power plays and penalty shots, because as much as the officials might want you to win, they’re not about to pick the puck up and toss it into the other team’s net for you.
Love,
The -Ookies
After the third Devils goal, we have to recant. Apparently the officials will essentially pick up the puck and toss it into the other team’s net for you.
In other postgame wrap-up news, this was the exchange we had after Niedermayer (the Lesser) had his ass vehemently handed to him in that “fight” with Cooke:
Pookie: Cooke just got him with the old “I know something you don’t. I am not left-handed” trick!
Schnookie: And Robin fell for it!
Pookie: He was like, “WHAAAAAA???”
Schnookie: When the correct response is, “I know something you don’t. I am also not left-handed.”
Pookie: Yup. But instead, he was just like, “OH SHIT!”
And finally, in his postgame interview with Stan, Marty said that goaltending is fun with the other team doesn’t score. We… aren’t sure what to make of that.

This just in, dancing more fun when you’re moving, and movies more fun with your eyes open.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, Marty’s really good at managing to make stating the obvious sound really cocky. :D
Okay, as of right now, we’re getting a feed on our satellite, despite the weather. I am not optimistic that it will hold up for tonight’s game. I figure it’ll hang on so I can watch the Sharks/Panthers (yawn), then blink out immediately when the game I care about starts. Heh.
Our power is still on! As is our satellite! Let the Devils/Islanders bacchanal begin!
WOOOOOOOOOO! The tumbleweeds and I are psyched for that goal!
Hey Schnookie, is that wee little Danis in goal tonight?
Yes it is, Myra!
Our across-the-street neighbor (the nosy, crazy bitch) just sat in her car at the end of her driveway, facing our house, with her headlights on, for almost 10 minutes. Just sitting. Facing our house. She is SO strange. What the fuck was she just doing???
How’s Dave’s mother doing, by the way?
She’s still in the hospital, probably will be until Monday at least. Dave drove out there this morning. (5 hour drive, which we did last weekend as well, yuck.) Just talked to Dave and he said she looked better than when we left last Sunday. We’ll just have to wait and see, but things are better than they were earlier in the week.
I always think of Gladys Cravitts from Bewitched when you talk about your neighbor. So she was probably watching for any abnormal behavior on your part.
Have y’all been having bad weather today?
That is SO good to hear about Dave’s mom! I’m sorry it’s been such an ordeal for all of you, but that’s great news that she’s doing better now.
And we have been having TERRIBLE weather today. Torrential rain and gale force winds. If it was freezing, this would probably have been worse than the blizzard last month. There were a couple of trees down on our street, so we’ve been joking that our neighbor was surveying the street just now, trying to figure out how to parlay downed trees into getting into people’s houses to poke through their medicine chests.
Amazingly, though, our satellite hasn’t cut out. I’ve never known it to hold up so well in the face of so much rain.
I’m so glad Dave’s mom is on the mend!
The weather here has been nutso. It makes me wish we had a wind turbine so we could power our laptops with the gale force winds outside!
Chico: “Well, it’s not exactly a riveting game.”
Me: “Oh, I’m glad to hear him say that, because I thought it was just me.” :P
I’m glad your satellite is holding up so well this time. During our recent snow event, many people found out that snow and their satellite dish don’t mix.
We had a lovely spring like day without too much wind. Spring here is usually punctuated by gale force winds so even though it is lovely, you can’t do much outside without getting blown away.
Grace and I went Easter dress shopping. She found a sweet yellow and white dress, earrings and some white wedge sandals. It is hard finding things that are age appropriate for her. (And yes, we used to go the whole nine yards with her. Frilly dress, hat, gloves, purse and frilly little anklets. She was so adorable. And if she sees this, she will throw up.)
I found nothing. Everything seemed either too young, too old or not springlike enough.
Now we are off to the store for chips, dip and ice cream. Girls Night!

Oh, sounds GREAT! Have a blast! I’m so sorry you didn’t find anything, but sounds like Grace made out like a bandit!

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I won’t tell her you said that! It sounds like a ton of fun — I’m glad that it was such a successful shopping adventure for her! I might not have a kid that age, but I’ve sure heard a lot about how hard it is to find age-appropriate clothes. That’s a total bummer that there wasn’t anything for you, though.
Have a great Girls Night!
Whew! I just sat down after a day-long torrent of tasks accomplished! It’s so WEIRD!
It helps when I have some kind of outside deadline. My sister came over to help me move a chair from the garage to right in front of the TV so I could sit comfortably for a change and knowing she was coming finally forced me to clean up the office so I could rotate the old chair in there and clean up the kitchen and the bathroom in case she wasn’t blind when she got here.
And that’s my story. Beautiful, beautiful day, which also helped.
Wow, Patty, that’s nuts! You’re such a doer!! I’m glad you’re comfy in front of the TV, finally. And that you had beautiful, beautiful weather today. ::grumble, grumble::
How’s the game going? Dare I ask?
This game has been awesome.
No, wait, what’s the opposite of that?

A Stars game?
And we are back! With Rotel cheese dip made with Velveeta of course and Tositos. And we are settling with our first movie of the night…Paul Blart, Mall Cop to followed by a double header of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
Hey, I have Paul Blart! Maybe I’ll watch it, too. I wonder if I have any Ro-Tel. That sounds like the perfect thing.
We felt like something pretty mindless for tonight. I highly recommend the cheese dip! Junk food seems totally appropriate for this movie.
Ok, that was pretty cute. As Gracie said, it’s makes you feel all smiley inside.
It sounds like Girls Night was an amazing success! I’m glad you ladies had a delicious and mindless-movie kind of night! (As for Ro-Tel, yeah, there are some days when that’s JUST the thing. Last weekend we were all excited to get to indulge in potato chips and premade onion dip. Mmmm… junk food.)
And good morning, everyone! I hope it’s all sunny skies and warm weather across the IPB Kingdom!
I hope it’s all sunny skies and warm weather across the IPB Kingdom!
It is, actually! Well, I can’t vouch for what it was like in the morning. Heh.
Are y’all watching the NBC game? Why is Ovechkin out? (I joined in the second period.)
It is, actually! Well, I can’t vouch for what it was like in the morning. Heh.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I was, sadly, awake relatively early this morning, thanks to the enormous THUNDERSTORM we had. Thunderstorm! In March! I’ve never heard of such a thing!
And Ovechkin’s out because he got a major for boarding Soupy. I can’t imagine the NHL is happy that Edzo has been quick to point out that this is Ovechkin’s third game misconduct for an injurious hit this season. (And I know! We’re watching the NBC game! With the Caps in it! It’s like we’ve rediscovered how to enjoy watching hockey.)
And Ovechkin’s out because he got a major for boarding Soupy.
Ooooh! Interesting!
Right before I asked, I saw Boudreau being interviewed and he said he didn’t think it was malicious at all, and I thought, that’s so weird that that whiny coach would say a hit on Ovie wasn’t that bad. But now I get it. :P
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yeah, I should think that someone like Bruce Boudreau saying a hit wasn’t very malicious should immediately provide the context that it wasn’t a Cap who was the hittee. :P
