For this week in sixty-four colors, red violet. This looks more plum in the picture, but in real life it’s spot-on — trust us. It was a working Saturday for Pookie, but we had a good one nonetheless, watching the US Open semifinals on TV and streaming online at work. We picked the right year to not be cheering for Rog!

Wow, I guess they really knew what they were doing making you the boss. You knew exactly where to go (22 years of back issues) to find the red violet New Yorker.
Djokovic is a pleasant guy. I do like Nadal better. What has really been bugging me, watching the U.S. Open, is how airbrushed Federer looks. It looks like he has had some procedures done. He’s pretty young and in good shape, but it’s kind of creepy to look at him now. He’s all smooth and buff and soft focused. Kind of like a stepford Federer.
Just me?? I guess I need to get out more.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, Pookie wishes. It’s more like that we have a framed copy of this cover (it involves a cat licking a multi-scoop ice cream cone in a snowstorm — hard to explain :D) in our upstairs hallway, and we haven’t bothered hanging it up at any point in the five years we’ve lived here. It’s just on the floor, leaning against the wall. And on Monday, when we were despairing that red violet is not a color that exists anywhere in our lives, I walked past it and thought, “No, wait. THERE’S red violet!”
As for Federer, I have long been a HUGE Rog fan. Like, I become so spazzy a fan that I couldn’t even watch his matches because I got so upset when he loses. So I’ve kind of drifted away in the last few years because I get so tense watching him. Strangely, then, this year, we turned on the Open in the early rounds, watched Nole, and immediately fell into deep, deep swoons. It’s kind of freeing to have a new favorite tennis player. And my new view of life has allowed me to FINALLY let up on Rafa, whom I no longer hate. I’m not cheering for him tomorrow, of course, but I don’t mind him winning (anymore. I used to. BIG STYLE). And Rog? As far as I’m concerned, he’s always the greatest, Stepford or no. :D
I’m not sure that comment makes any sense. I’ve had a bit of wine tonight. What I’m trying to say is that no, I didn’t notice that Rog was looking Stepfordy (I’m sure Anna Wintour’s behind it if he has had work done :P) because I was so entranced by Nole.
Anna! I forgot about that. I’m sure that’s the reason.
Happy Grandparents Day!! Less than a month til hockey! (the sport my Grammy says turned me into a blasted tomboy! Wooooooo)
Happy Grandparents Day right back atcha, mcguggs! And I’m counting one week until hockey — the week after next there’s all manner of preseason games on TV! (Then it goes away for another two weeks, of course, but I take what I can get.)
