I went out first thing to take pictures, figuring the carrot fronds might look cool after the hours-long torrential downpour we got early in the morning. The threat of drizzling or more hung heavy in the air. Like, literally. It was so humid the lens fogged up terribly. So I took four or five really crappy pictures and skittered back inside.
Since I had time to kill before leaving for the night shift and no one to chat that time away with, I took to processing this photo in Picnik. I applied about 80,000 different layers to it, including an effect called VampiraScope, only to get something that still looks pretty much like I took a crappy picture of carrot fronds through a fogged up lens. But, I guess the VampiraScope did transform them into Bunnicula carrots, so there’s that, right? — Pk.

Bunnicula carrots
Dun dun DUNNNN dun dun dundundunnnnnn
It seems I can’t get away from Bunnicula mentions these days. First TWC. Then my neighborhood paper. Now IPB. It’s an epidemic!
I heartily approve of this epidemic! Man, I loved those books.
I meant to take a picture of my yummy homemade (except the crust) chicken pot pie last night to share but, as always, was too distracted by the eating. Ah well.
The start of season is SO CLOSE! And though our Viking adventure was in Iceland rather than Sweden, I’m still excited the Jackets are kicking off the season in such a fun locale (since I wouldn’t have made it to the game anyway.)
Amy, you’re right! I think TWC is the definite trendsetter here. The Patient Zero for the Bunnicula craze, as it were.

Damn you! Rubbing your chicken pot pie in my face! (I made lime-garlic chicken, butternut squash, and goat cheese quesedillas last night, so I’m not really complaining… :P)
And as for the BJs’ road trip, I hope they brought the goal cannon with them!
I hope the BJs take the goal cannon everywhere. The grocery store, etc.
Do you know how much more awesome my life would be if there was a goal cannon for me at the grocery store?!
Peeking out of cave. Testing.
Hey I can comment! And yet have nothing to say….
‘cept:
Sorry for the absence. Tough year. Things looking up now.
I am going to the preseason Devs-Ilses tonight so there’s that.
Hey Morgan! It’s great to see you here again! I’m glad that things are looking up — you really have had a rough go. Although I can’t say that seeing a Devils/Islanders preseason game in person counts as things looking up, necessarily… :P (Seriously, though, I hope you have a great time!)
Morgan, I’m so glad to hear things are looking up! I hope they just keep getting better and better. Enjoy the game tonight!
Thanks Ookies!

I hate you all.
I had cottage pie last night, it was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.
I’m with Meg. Y’all are just being mean with all your delicious food talk.
Whatchall doing? I’m watching a hugely stupid show. I promised I’d give it a couple of episodes, but I haven’t heard in the news that they got a different main guy, so I’m not expecting it to get better.
And that’s my story.
What show, Patty?
What show, Patty?
[Shit] My Dad Says. (Don’t judge me.)
I canceled my season pass just now.
Well as long as you canceled it. :P I’m just hanging around waiting for a friend to get here at 9 so we can get dinner. (I’m a wee bit bitter about having to wait so long.)
I canceled my season pass just now.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Was our silence too brutal a judgment about your taste? :P
(And I watch ANTM. I don’t judge anyone. Or, um, I don’t judge some people, but I do judge many. Okay, who am I kidding? I judge everyone.)
As for what we’re watching, why, Flyers/Sabres, of course! And we’re eating delicious, delicious frozen pizza, the only thing I’m ever willing to cook on Friday nights after my end-of-week nap. I did make pumpkin cheesecake bars when I got home from work, though, so I haven’t dropped the cooking ball entirely. (It’s from a mix.)
As for what we’re watching, why, Flyers/Sabres, of course! </i?
Well you must be happy right now then.
I fail.
Oh Meg. ::Looks away from the burning, burning shame::
:P
(And I’m happy because it’s hockey. I’d be lying if I said I was paying any attention. I take it the Flyers are winning?)
Oh wait, that’s right! I remember them scoring. I am paying attention!
I canceled my season pass just now.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I read the EW Fall TV Preview this week and realized that none of the new shows look at all interesting to me. One of my fellow jurors gave us all a run-down of the first episode of “The Event”. It was enough for me to want to go to his house and cancel the season pass for him. Heh.
But, uh, yeah, ANTM! The photoshoot this week was their best in years!
I read the EW Fall TV Preview this week and realized that none of the new shows look at all interesting to me.
Yeah, it’s a bad year as far as I can tell.
Oh Meg. ::Looks away from the burning, burning shame::
In my defense I did take an 8 hour exam today (although it was pass/fail so I’m sure I could have taken a lot less time than I did).
Also, I’m thinking the Sabres should probably spend some time working on their penalty kill.

That is a truly humbling defense. Yikes. You’ve earned a long, alcohol-soaked weekend, I think.
Also, I’m thinking the Sabres should probably spend some time working on their penalty kill.
Things have definitely gotten a bit more, um, scrambly here in the last few minutes. But their PP looked pretty good in the first period, so there’s that!
I’m a little ticked that I seem to be hooked on Project Runway. :D But I don’t think I’ll ever start with ANTM. Not that I’m judging. Because I certainly don’t have room to. :D
Whoa, Meg. An 8-hour exam?!?! Yikes!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying PR, Patty! This has really been an exceptionally good season. :D
Project Runway has been SO good this season. It’s turned into the highlight of my week. What’s strange is the challenges haven’t been very good, and the overall quality of the work doesn’t seem as strong as in seasons past, but the cast is so strangely compelling, and the editing/writing has been top-notch.
Whoa, Meg. An 8-hour exam?!?! Yikes!
To be fair it was a take-home so I did write the whole thing in my apartment. It wasn’t bad…I’m just looking for excuses.
It wasn’t bad…I’m just looking for excuses.
Still….
It wasn’t bad…I’m just looking for excuses.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Your story’s starting to fall apart here. Next it’s going to be, “And it wasn’t quite eight hours. Maybe more like… eight minutes.” :P
Or, “And it wasn’t quite a test. More like… a bender.”
but the cast is so strangely compelling
Yes, they’re all interesting in their own way. I might have to make you tell me what happened with Gretchen that was so crazy. Or would that be a spoiler for somebody? It was a while back, right? I’ve seen, I think, 4 people eliminated (I caught a couple of back-episodes.)
No, no, that part is almost much true. I picked it up at 9:20 and had until 5:20 to hand it in. I think I actually handed it in around 4:40. And I really did work on it that whole time with just a 20 minute break for lunch. Even I wouldn’t embellish quite that much.
Or, “And it wasn’t quite a test. More like… a bender.”
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Or, “And it wasn’t quite a test. More like… a bender.”
:^::::::::::::::: No, no, that’s tonight. If my chronically late friend gets here before I expire of hunger.
Your friend isn’t there yet, Meg! It’s AFTER 9:00!!!
(Wait, I think that needed a question mark somewhere…)
I might have to make you tell me what happened with Gretchen that was so crazy
Patty, there’s a convention on PR where they assign the contestants to teams to complete the challenge. While only one person is eliminated, the entire team is sort of on the chopping block for a failure, to create tension. So the good designers get dragged down by bad designers. There’s usually a gimmick where one person is put in charge as the “team leader” but sometimes they’re free to just work that out amongst themselves; theoretically the “team leader” is most responsible for a failure. At the end of the runway judging, each member of the team is asked who was the weak link and then they all have to decide how to handle dissing a castmate. It’s pretty standard reality tv and usually sucks relative to the rest of PR. So when they dragged out a team challenge this season it was like, “Ugh, I think they’ve lost me.” But then… But then! Lo, it was AWESOME. Gretchen (who had been much bitchier leading up to this episode than she’s been since you’ve started watching) pretty much took over her team and lead them to create a really boring, awful line.
There’s a really good recap of what happened HERE.
And then a really funny reaction post HERE.
It was quite seriously the best thing I’ve seen on current tv in ages.
Your friend isn’t there yet, Meg! It’s AFTER 9:00!!!
She texted me at 8:30 and was all, “OK, leaving the gym now, how long does it take to get there?”
An hour. It takes an hour.
Meg, that’s AWFUL!
She just texted me again to tell me she was getting on the subway…10 minutes ago! Is it bad form to murder your friends?
Is it bad form to murder your friends?
In this case, not at all.
Excellent! No jury in the world would convict me (except maybe a jury of the chronically late).
(except maybe a jury of the chronically late).
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Yeah, but the judge will have dismissed the case by the time they arrive. So I think you’re good. :D
Thanks, Pookie! I’ll go look. I did see the ep where each designer had to execute another’s design. They were worried they’d be eliminated and more worried the one they sewed for would be eliminated.
I can sympathize with them. I HATE working in teams.
(except maybe a jury of the chronically late).
Yeah, but the judge will have dismissed the case by the time they arrive.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: to both of you!
Pookie that recap was hilarious!
I loved the one commenter that said Ivy was a jerk for turning on Gretchen after “being all up in Gretchen’s good china” the whole week. I’m going to have to figure out a way to work that phrase in sometime.
I’m going to have to figure out a way to work that phrase in sometime.
I know! That’s a good one. :D
An 8-hour exam?!?! Yikes!
AACK! Horrible, horrible flashbacks. The discussion of Meg’s exam triggered my bar exam related PTSD.
