We arrived in Newark early enough to enjoy the fan fest. About a half hour before game time we headed towards the gates. Then when we went through the the turnstiles they handed us terrible towels.

Restful, yes. Productive, in a way. I knit a lot, but then I ripped out everything I’d knit. Long story short, there 130 yards, NOT the 176 stated on the ball band, on a ball of Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000, and I wrote the Lana Grossa people a very angry email about lying to their customers. So while my net knitting production was negative, I did find out why I kept running out of this yarn, and that’s a big plus.
Dude, are you KIDDING? That is TOTALLY annoying and awful! Although I suppose it is nice to know why you’re running out of the stuff…
I’m having one of those work days where I have a bunch of relatively easily approachable things to do, all of them of moderately high urgency, and I just can’t get my brain to focus on starting. So instead I’m being all flighty and sort of nebulously panicky, and I’m not getting anything done. I guess that’s what I get for being the opposite this weekend. Man, I was a productivity MACHINE! I made a billion-step cake! I cooked beans! I cleared garden beds! I harvested tomatillos! I roasted and froze the tomatillos! I made two delicious dinners! I planted daffodils and crocuses! I stitched quilt squares! I pieced a quilt backing! I made a felt cardinal ornament! I ordered Christmas presents! I guess now I’m like, “I need a rest.”

For some reason I have this impression that that happens a lot at your office. At any office, in fact. I was reading about the Balanced Scorecard today (again) (if I pass this exam I’m going to set those magazine articles ON FIRE) and all they talk about it management coming up with Brilliant Ideas at off site symposia and then not communicating any of them to the lower levels. Which seems a bit counter productive if you ask me (and the article authors agree with me).

I watched the Sabres lose, the Bills lose, bought new pots & pans, made chicken noodle soup, and spent too much time watching Ghost Hunters live from Buffalo last night. So I think I was productive in that “lazy sort of weekend” way.
I was completely non-productive, as in a state of shock and panic over what all will need to be done for us to move to Kansas City. Bleh.

Thanks Mags, but I’ll be fine. We have plenty of time for the move, it’s just that we have lived in our house for 18 years. That makes for some long roots and a lot of stuff.

Heh heh. My department seems to be doing the opposite of that. We still get regular presentations at our big Town Hall meetings about some off-site management seminar one of the execs went to, and then about the feedback the other execs gave about the seminar, and I’m like, “I’m sure this would be interesting… if you’d actually gone to the seminar.” And that’s my story.
Myra, Boomer can also help out with moral support for moving — she did quite a bit of that when we were younguns. :D
Oh, and I meant to add that other than all the losing, Amy, your weekend sounds like it was delightful. I especially love new pots and pans!!
My weekend featured my real life hockey team losing, the Devils losing, my fantasy football team losing and suffering perhaps the worst loss ever in fantasy hockey 13-1 to the China Dolls. Halloween was OK though. Yay for Monday ?!?

Well, some of those four hours were spent letting things bake and/or cool, to be fair. Heh. (And many, many hours were spent after all of that cursing that I didn’t use bigger cake pans, because one of them spewed cake batter all over the inside of the oven, so now when the oven’s on it smells like the house is burning down.)
Meanwhile, the Orange Cymballs are a bunch of lazy degenerates who seem to want to be relegated to the minor leagues, where they can, presumably, win without really trying. I hate to have to be the one to tell them that the way they play hockey now, they wouldn’t be able to win in the AmazingMinorLeague either.

Did you guys know Jeff Skinner is young? They only mentioned it a few times but he’s 18 years and 169 days old. Youngest in the NHL. I’m sure they might mention it again just in case you missed it.
