Merry Christmas all! Hope you’re not sick like me and resting at your mother in law’s house. I knew I was going to get sick coming back from Florida and my body backed up my prediction to the letter.

Amy, thanks for the concern! It’s been snowing pretty hard here since noon, but so far it doesn’t seem as bad as the storms we had last year. I’m going to be very annoyed if it turns out I took a vacation day for tomorrow for nothing. :P

I gave Boomer “Kirby’s Yarn Adventure” for the Wii because I’d read a good review. After buying it I saw EW had it ranked as their #1 worst game because “cute and easy only get you so far”. Turns out “cute and easy” get me hours of fun! (I know, I know, that’s what she said.). I’m resenting the Devils even more for tearing me away from Kirby. He turns into a little car made of yarn which beeps all cutely! Do the Devils that? No, they do not. Bah humbug!

I’m pretty glad hockey is about to start. :D I had a nice Christmas, though. I got some Dallas Stars slippers. Something new to wear to the games!

Also, I told my sister I got a blu-ray player and she bought me my favorite movie for it: Cars. Every time I watch it I feel the urge to go on a road trip down Route 66.

Something new to wear to the games!

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: All you need is a Stars bathrobe and you’ll be set! (That’s awesome that you’re now blu-ray and “Cars”-enabled! Sounds like a VERY good Christmas!!)

I also can’t deal with games that get too hard. I got to the first castle in the second world of Mario Brothers for the Wii and quit the game entirely. I am NOT a good gamer.

Also, I am very glad that I’m not at this game tonight. It probably sucked going there, and will suck worse getting back. To say nothing of what happens in between.

And there’s snow piling up on the windows that are getting lashed by the “screaming wind” (that was the weather prediction. I’m disinclined to suggest that’s what it’s actually like here right now, but I also don’t want to tempt fate. Hey, storm, you seem plenty tough just the way you are. :P), but we don’t normally get the classic, advent-calendar “snow piling up on windows” look here. Sadly. We need smaller eaves. Or more wind.

I have picturesque piling on mullions on my brain, because it always disappoints me that this house doesn’t do that. :P (I’ve now told you far more about how snow falls on our house than you ever would have wondered, haven’t I? :D)

I’m watching USA/Finland on NHL Network. I really think the Sabres road trip out west combined with the insane local focus on the wee baby hockey players in town might just pull me out of this hockey funk I feel like I’m in.

(I just found out that my workplace is closed tomorrow for the snow. Since I had been planning to take a vacation day tomorrow, I think I’m going to turn that into a snow day and take vacation on Friday. :D)

Thanks for the sympathy, Patty! I missed most of the third period because I was sewing teensy little squares of fabric together on the sewing machine. That’s right — I’ve been mechanized! (I didn’t finish any individual quilt projects in 2010. I’m hoping to speed up my process a bit in 2011.)

But now I’m sitting down and I’m watching the Stars… and they’re not winning. Is this my fault?

(Also, I agree about the Ovechkin head commercial. All the things you said, and that it’s gross. :P)

So we were driving back from my mother-in-law’s house last night and since my wife “forgot” to put all my CDs in the car, I thought I would listen to the Devils game on the cool satellite radio. I only listened for two periods of course but I wish Sherri Ross would replace Chico based on that, her honesty was quite refreshing and she seems to be the anti-Chico. Also I hope you all in snowland are surviving the snow OK, since I don’t live around there I figured the Devils were using the “storm” excuse for their attendance being an estimated 3,000.

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I actually think the storm was pretty rough for people north and east of here (read: “closer to the Devils arena”), so I’ll give them this one. But honestly, the way they’re playing they don’t deserve to have more than 3,000 people at any given game.

I would LOVE if Sherry Ross took over Chico’s job. I love her as a color person, but strangely I hated her when she was a beat writer. Go figure.

Oooh! That’s exciting! Pookie and I just went for a stroll in the snowy woods, and it turned out there was a lot more snow than I thought. But still, it’s nowhere near as bad here as it is elsewhere in the state. One of our friends posted a picture on flickr that showed minivans in her apartment parking lot literally completely covered in the snowdrifts. We’ve got, like, flowerpots completely covered. Heh.

Also, the worst tattoo in the NHL, as much as I’d like to say it’s Ovechkin’s, is Colin White’s clown. That is just HORRIFYING. :D

As I imagine it, absolutely.

I don’t know. I’m weird about tattoos. I don’t mind them, but I prefer simple tats over the ones with elaborate colourwork. The guy she was complaining about (funnily enough, the OTHER Petr Sykora), was kind of pulling it off.
