Are Patty Elias and Travis Zajac stuck in that car? I bet they are, those numbskulls.
i’ll bet that they won’t share their peanuts (acorns?) with each other, either…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! to both of you!
Are Patty Elias and Travis Zajac stuck in that car? I bet they are, those numbskulls.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: That story is just begging for the “Hockey players are just like you & me…” treatments. (Except that the “…really good at hockey” part is questionable at the moment.)
(Except that the “…really good at hockey” part is questionable at the moment.)
:^::::::::::::::::: Yeah, its tough to decide how sympathetic to be of Elias and Zajac. Heh.
Oh bummer. I forgot this is RJ’s WC minibreak.
That’s some pretty heavy snow to collaps the roof of that car like that. :D
Are any of our teams losing? Or are they just not playing? I’m just settling in.
Aw, but RJ Junior is taking the reins. So that’s kind of cute, but he’s a little less… energetic than Dad.
Are any of our teams losing? Or are they just not playing? I’m just settling in.
The early games featured the most unappealing match-ups possible, but I just noticed that the Rangers scored SEVEN goals soooo… it’s not like things are going to get any worse, right?
Never mind, it’s getting worse.
Heh. Devils. It’s funny because it’s true!
So not only were Patty & Travis stuck in the snow, the Leafs are apparently still stuck in Newark. I really am starting to feel bad for them at this point.
RJ Junior is taking the reins. So that’s kind of cute, but he’s a little less… energetic than Dad
In play-by-play mode, RJ Junior sounds like Dave Foley from Kids in the Hall.
I’m watching the illustrious duo of Max Afineganov and Alexei Yashin. Has Max always had that “I’mma fucking kill you” look?
Anyhoo. Flirty McSnowboardteacher demanded a hug this morning. I’ve so got it made.
So who else had to go to work to today? Wahoo!
Sounds like vacation’s treating you well, Mags! :D
Myra, sorry you had to go to work today. I didn’t! WOOHOO!!! I am going to take a month off from complaining about having to drive 100 miles a day for work because I just got another snow day! Everyone east of us got a TON more snow (like 10-15 more inches) and they haven’t gotten around to plowing a lot of it, so no work for me! They called last night to say it was a delayed opening which is pretty cool and all, but… We all want a real snow day, right? So I was waiting and waiting for the second call. It came through at about 9:30 but only to say that I shouldn’t leave my house before 11 to get to work at 1 in case they still hadn’t plowed. So at 11:05 I had to admit there wasn’t going to be that magical third call so I got dressed and started to drive to work. I got as far as the stop sign at the edge of my neighborhood when someone further down the phone tree from me called to say they’d heard from someone who’d heard from someone that the radio said we were closed. Hot diggity dog! Turns out the person ahead of me on the phone tree was about to call me. If I’d left when I originally thought I would this morning when I got up, I probably would have gotten all the way to the highway before getting the news. Woo-hoo! I love it when a plan comes together! And that’s my story.
WOOHOO FOR SNOW DAYS! Hey, wait. Why am I woohoo, I’m stuck at work. Pooh.
Yay for snow days, I am hoping for one tomorrow as we are supposed to get six inches of snow, which is more than enough to scare people around here.
So I was looking at the Amazing SuperLeague scoreboard to see how I lost by a zillion points last week even with good goalie stats and saw the judgmental phrase “New Jersey Devils did not meet minimum requirements.” So true…
Yay for snow days! Every day is a snow day here, but in the best possible way. I think I might have to win the lottery and then move.
“New Jersey Devils did not meet minimum requirements.”
:’^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I’m laughing through my bitter, bitter tears.
“New Jersey Devils did not meet minimum requirements.” So true…
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The minimum requirements aren’t even on their radar. Sigh. (Although did I see this morning that Rolston was assigned to Albany? That’s a good sign, right?)
the idea that anyone would actually *claim* rolston and, in small part at least, help alleviate some of the misery that devils’ fans have is totally illusory, i’m sure
I don’t know, for maybe Rolston at half price is worth it to someone. Oh, who am I kidding. Rolston for free isn’t worth it to anyone.
Honest to god Swiss commercial:
Two mountain goats on a hill
“What are you eating?”
“Snow”
“What if it runs out?”
“Then it’s summer”
I KNOW. I have no idea either.
if he were on sale at 50% off at macy’s, no one would try him on…even if he were on the clearance rack, he would go untouched…lol
So you’re not optimistic, eh don? :P
Congrats on the snow day! Like Myra, I was at poopy work all day. We had a gross drizzly day which is never a day off. But it was just the kind of day where you wish the hardest that you’re home in your comfy chair reading a trashy novel all day.
I didn’t get a snow day either, Patty. But no one’s in my office, so I took a three-hour lunch with a friend. Then I got a crippling headache and decided to go home at 3 and take a two-hour nap. So it was kinda like a snow day in the end, I guess. :P
Mags, that mountain goat commercial sounds like reason enough to move there. I want commercials like that!
And :^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: to the Rolston metaphors. (There are tears mixed in with that milk snorting up my nose. Stupid Devils. The friend I had lunch with today was telling me how wrong it is that I’m still tranny married to the Flyers, and I was like, “Dude, it’s an even happier tranny marriage than ever, now that my legal spouse is…” and he finished, “Dead to you?”)
Aw, Patty, I’m sorry! I have to say, usually by the time I hit the end of a long vacation, I’m ready to go back to work. This vacation? I’m thinking im totally ready to be retired. I want to enjoy drizzly days at home! Also, i have too many projects i want to do. Stupid fucking work. I’m so over you, work! Heh.
Oh, and I should mention that there ought to be a federal law mandating that everyone get to go home and be cozy inside on rainy days. I mean, come ON. In the three and a half years I lived in Arizona, there were two instances of rainy days like that. One of them I got to spend reading on the patio and watching the rain hit the swimming pool, but one of them I had to spend at work. And it was like a CRIME. I mean, how can they WASTE days like that when they’re so rare?
I mean, how can they WASTE days like that when they’re so rare?
Exactly! Rainy days are almost that rare here, lately.
Oh my word! I had no idea that this was based on a true storty. Hah! Hub just pointed it out to me on PD.
Actually, we put the picture of the car up before we’d heard the story. It’s like we knew even without knowing. Heh.
Story? What story? Don’t make me go over to PD. :P
I guess Patty and Travis carpool to the games together, and on the way home from Sunday’s, they got stranded in the snow and spent the night in the car.
Wow. You guys are like totally psychic!
We are, Myra! Now if only we could find something in the woods that looks like Rolston getting claimed on waivers…
Wow. That IS spooky. I’m not convinced it wasn’t more voodoo than psychic. Y’all put little Patty and Travis dolls in that car out back, didn’t you?
Shhhh! Patty, don’t tell!
We have an evil eye thingie from Turkey — maybe we should hide it out on the junk car to stand in for Winky Rolston!
Pookie, that’s genius!
I know. WINK.
Hey guys! Tranny Brides are getting SPANKED. Mostly by Kesler.
Just thought you’d like to know.
Actually, we put the picture of the car up before we’d heard the story. It’s like we knew even without knowing. Heh.
Awesome.
You know, you consider this along with the EXCITING NEWS post and you two really ought to be tested for psychitude ;)
You know, you consider this along with the EXCITING NEWS post and you two really ought to be tested for psychitude ;)
My god, you’re right! I hadn’t even considered that! (For a long time I was psychic about C-list celebrities [like, I would find myself thinking about them totally unbidden, and then within a week, something horrible would happen to them], but now I think my powers are shifting to the Devils. That must mean they’re rating on a par with C-list celebrities for me!)
Carol, I had noticed that the trannies are losing. ::sad face::
I forgot about the “Exciting News” post. Y’all are getting downright scary.
I’m stuck at the office again and can’t stop coughing. Bleh. The only thing keeping me going is that the Kid and Hub are coming to take me out to lunch! But that isn’t for another 2 hours. Bleh. Bleh.
You can make it, Myra, I know you can! 2 hours isn’t that bad! Lunch out sounds lovely! I’m back at work again. :( The roads around here suck. It’s the worst slush I’ve had to drive in in years. I’m hoping the plows are taking care of it now before my drive home.
Yuck on having to go to work on slushy roads. I’m such a chicken about driving on potentially icy roads. It’s my biggest fear about moving to Kansas City.
Hopefully they will have it cleaned up long before you have to head out.
the Kid and Hub are coming to take me out to lunch!
We are? I hope the kid is paying.
Stars game was very nice last night. But we can’t enjoy it much with the dead things in Dallas tonight.
We are? I hope the kid is paying.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
We are? I hope the kid is paying.
Hey now, don’t mess with me, David. You have a paying job and everything now, so NO EXCUSES!
We are? I hope the kid is paying.
Considering my nonexistant source of income, I think not. And y’all actually still owe me money. Ha.
There is a very real possibility that I will fall asleep while I’m typing this. Mags so taytay.
The roads around here suck. It’s the worst slush I’ve had to drive in in years
On the drive out here we discovered that the Germans really don’t care about their border roads. The ice was insane, and kind of scary.
Obligatory McFlirty update: he’s 5’9″, weighs 90kgs and is 30 years old (damnit!). Has a Canon EOS 7D with a rockin’ lens (and puts my photos to shame). Has worn a kilt and liked it.
I’m going to be really sorry to leave on Saturday :(
Ouuu. McFlirty sounds fun.
And Kid, about owing you money, talk to your dad. He’s the one making the big bucks now. :P
Ouuu. McFlirty sounds fun.
Yeah, and if he ever finds out I call him McFlirty, he’s never going to let me live it down.
Kid, about owing you money, talk to your dad. He’s the one making the big bucks now. :P
Kid, do continue to badger both your parents. It works better.
OK, the Kid’s account is square. Then she asked for more money. Maybe I should just change my name to Bank.
Mags, McFlirty sounds like a real keeper! That’s a shame that you have to leave!!
I hope the Myra Family luncheon was a smashing success today. I had a nice quiet day at the office with the two other people from my department who showed up. I have lousy interwebs, though, so I am very limited what I can do while still in my temporary office. So I brought a sewing project and spent my day stitching. It was heavenly!
And then we went on some fun shopping errands tonight, completely forgetting that the Devils were playing. Whoops!
(Mags, I think you should at least try to get the camera from McFlirty, if nothing else.)
I finally got settled in here. Just in time to see the adorable Mark Fistric interviewed on the ice. ::happy sigh::
I’m just jealous of everybody today. I had nobody buy me lunch and no McFlirty to drool over and nothing to do at work except stupid work.
The roads were dry, so I guess there’s that. (Sorry, Pookie.)
I’m just jealous of everybody today. I had nobody buy me lunch and no McFlirty to drool over and nothing to do at work except stupid work.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I’m so sorry. But if it’s any help to you, I was looking forward to just being alone in my little hole of a temporary office all day, but the two other people who’d come in happen to be people I’m moderately friendly with, so I got stuck going to lunch with them. SIGH. I hate eating lunch with other people.
Sorry Patty!
Lunch was very good. Little Italian place.
The list of people I enjoy having lunch with is not long. And none of my current coworkers is on it. :P
The roads were dry, so I guess there’s that. (Sorry, Pookie.)
::sniffle:: It actually was better coming home than I expected (even though it took me 20 extra minutes) so it’s all good. I just hope it doesn’t melt too much tomorrow and then freeze when I’m coming home from the late shift.
The list of people I enjoy having lunch with is not long. And none of my current coworkers is on it. :P
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I have shockingly discovered that I love going out to lunch with some of my co-workers on Fridays. I’m like, “What is this… being so-cial? Who am I?!”
I never thought I’d say it, but I miss my old co-workers. :(
The list of people I enjoy having lunch with is not long. And none of my current coworkers is on it. :P
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I also have a few current coworkers I don’t mind having lunch with, but I need, like, several weeks’ notice before it happens. Today it was all, “Hey, we’re going to lunch now. Come with us!” and there were so few people in the office that I couldn’t say no. Like, “Uh, I’m… busy?” No one would have believed that!
Did y’all hear? Trevor Daley signed a 6-year deal! I’m happy about it. Six years is kind of a lot, but what can you do? The NTC is apparently just for the first 2. I like the kid a lot, so I’m glad. I think it’ll be a bargain in the long run.
And that’s my story.
Patty, that was great commentary and reporting there. (And woo hoo for the deal! It sounds pretty damn reasonable for a guy you like!)
I saw that Daley signed and thought, “I bet the Dallas crew will be pleased with that deal!” And apparently, I was right! :D
I’m hoping this means that if they can do that deal, the lenders are willing to spend to sign B-rad as well.
Hey, whaddaya know? The Devils just lost to the Rangers. Who would’ve thunk it? :P
We buy Fistric’s stick, get the Kid’s picture taken with him and now he scores in back-to-back games after not scoring in 80+ games. We are his good luck charm!
The Kid got her picture taken with him?! Obviously that was what he’s been lacking all this time. :D
Patty, that was great commentary and reporting there.
Thanks. I thought we should get serious for a moment. :P
Oh, and Myra, did you tell Fistric that he’s Patty (in Dallas)’s favorite player? I’m sure he’s been dying to know.
Yeah, we got him to take a couple pics with Grace and the Taylor’s Gift stick. He is just such a sweetie!
Oh, and Myra, did you tell Fistric that he’s Patty (in Dallas)’s favorite player? I’m sure he’s been dying to know.
Oops. I totally forgot to tell him! :P
Thanks. I thought we should get serious for a moment.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
And tsk, tsk Myra. I was about to praise you for your Fistric mojo powers, but then you admit that you didn’t mention Patty to him. ::shakes head sadly::
I’ve totally lost interest in this game.
I’ve totally lost interest in this game.
If this year’s Devils was a prom, that would be its theme. Heh.
And guess who’s working from home today? Me! I did my grocery shopping this morning, logged into my work email at 10 (having left work at 4 yesterday) and discovered just three emails — one was spam, one was a system-generated message telling me to approve an invoice, and one was an Outlook meeting invite for one of my bosses. This is my favorite week of the year.
I’ve totally lost interest in this game.
That’s the saddest music I have ever heard :(
Also sad, possibly no McFlirty tomorrow. I might have to settle for Tall Swiss Dude, who is not nearly as fun as McFlirty.
Tall Swiss Dude sounds appealing on the surface, but if he’s no McFlirty, then that’s a total shame!
Hey everyone! A belated happy holidays to all!
How are things around here? Looking at the standings I’d guess there’s a whole lot of Walker, Texas Ranger being watched.
I had the misfortune of not having anything better to do last night so I actually watched Devils-Rangers. My review:
Good players: Elias, Zubrus, Volchenkov
Bad players: Arnott, Kovalchuk, Fayne
Brodeur let in his standard one terrible goal per game but was pretty good later. As usual, they outplayed the Rangers pretty well the first period but were only tied, then sucked the rest of the way. Hope everyone gets to leave early for the holiday today like me!
Hey andrew! Things are great here — how was your first big family Christmas?
It’s been a great hockey season, though, hasn’t it? Sigh…
Mike, thanks for the review of the game. We just saw the second and third periods, which seems fitting, because why would have wanted to see the period where the Devils were the better team?
Things are great here — how was your first big family Christmas?
It was good! We saw some family, opened some presents, drank a few cordials. All in all, not bad. Although we had to break it to the family that as soon as Dylan is old enough to know what’s going on, we’re not travelling for the holidays. They can come visit us if they want, but he’s waking up in his own bed on Christmas morning.
It’s been a great hockey season, though, hasn’t it? Sigh…
It’s awesome. Sabres are terrible, Sharks are mediocre. I’m having a blast.

Aww, that’s the spirit! Boomer and our dad felt the same way about Christmas for their kids, and I was always horrified at the thought of my friends and classmates having to travel for the holiday. I remember being highly suspicious of whether Santa would actually find you if you weren’t at home. :P
And dude, as for the hockey, who the hell is actually good this season? I’m kind of not paying attention to the big picture at all, since the Devils don’t factor into it. I think the playoffs are going to be an absolute shock for me — it’s going to be like, “Since when was [Team X] any good?” and then the announcers will be all, “[Team X] has been in first place since mid-December…”
Boomer and our dad felt the same way about Christmas for their kids, and I was always horrified at the thought of my friends and classmates having to travel for the holiday.
For sure! I remember exactly one Christmas away from home. We went to Phoenix for the week to visit family. That’s it, one! I want to make sure it’s the same for us and our kids.
as for the hockey, who the hell is actually good this season?
I’m sticking with the assumption that everyone is terrible. Makes me sleep easier.

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I guess you’re right — there are just too many horrible possibilities to consider if I were actually to check to see who’s doing well. I mean, what if it’s the Rangers? Or the Caps? Or someone else who’s disgusting?
I mean, what if it’s the Rangers? Or the Caps? Or someone else who’s disgusting?
Oh, I’m sure it is. Because why not.
On to much more important news…Tomorrow is my last day before going on leave! WOOOOOOO!!!!
Tomorrow is my last day before going on leave! WOOOOOOO!!!!
That is COMPLETELY awesome news! How long are you going to be sitting on the couch eating bonbons? It’s many, many months, isn’t it? I recall it’s long enough that I’m SEETHING with jealousy…
How long are you going to be sitting on the couch eating bonbons? It’s many, many months, isn’t it?
FOUR MONTHS.
That’s right. Four effing months.
Although, it will probably actually be pretty difficult. As it turns out, raising children is hard.
Don’t care. Still looking forward to not being at work.
Although, it will probably actually be pretty difficult. As it turns out, raising children is hard.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Please don’t disabuse me of my notions of four bonbon-filled months, andrew. Leave some of the romance intact! :P
But seriously, hanging out with Dylan, no matter how hard raising him might be, has GOT to be better than being at work! :D
(Although if your work is anything like mine is today, there’s not much difference between “working” and “free time”. I actually had to remind myself that I was technically on the clock today so I wouldn’t go take a long nap. I love working from home!)
Howdy all!
the Rangers? Or the Caps? Or someone else who’s disgusting?
There’s other more disgusting teams out there? Perish the thought!
There’s other more disgusting teams out there? Perish the thought!
Heh. Well, maybe not MORE disgusting. Perhaps just ALSO disgusting?
But seriously, hanging out with Dylan, no matter how hard raising him might be, has GOT to be better than being at work! :D
That’s what I’m thinking.
I actually had to remind myself that I was technically on the clock today so I wouldn’t go take a long nap. I love working from home!
That is awesome. Now you’re making me jealous!
There’s other more disgusting teams out there? Perish the thought!
Yes there are. Their name starts with a ‘D’. And ends with, ‘etroit Red Wings’.

Dude, put that away! I just ate!

I know, right? One minute you’re minding your own business, then BOOM! Todd Bertuzzi, right in your face.

:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I think even Red Wings fans feel that way about Bertuzzi.
I think even Red Wings fans feel that way about Bertuzzi.
I dunno, Red Wings fans are a special breed.
Although it seems like every team has (or recently had) that guy. I know Marchment was someone I hated, even in a Sharks sweater. Ditto for Barnaby with the Sabres.
I know Marchment was someone I hated, even in a Sharks sweater. Ditto for Barnaby with the Sabres.
Langer. I hate Langer.
Langer. I hate Langer.
You took the words right out of my mouth! (I know, it’s very surprising that he’s the one who would come to mind for both of us…)
And I suppose when I say that Red Wings fans hate Bertuzzi, I’m basing this entirely on Tram, who is the only Wings fan I know. She might not be representative of the whole. Heh.
I suppose when I say that Red Wings fans hate Bertuzzi
Really? He doesn’t endear himself to many. Although, he STILL has supporters in Vancouver. So weird. I actually think he’s on the right team now. The Red Wings seem like a more disciplined team and there’s plenty of other tough guys on that team, too. He’s not the only one.
On another note, I’m looking forward to the outdoor game, although, it’s a bit of a bummer who the two teams are. BORING. We get it. It’s a rivalry. Honk shoo! Honk shoo!
I’m looking forward to the outdoor game, although, it’s a bit of a bummer who the two teams are.
Based on what’s been shown on 24/7, the Penguins are kind of growing on me like Sid’s mustache. They seem like so much fun. The Caps are just so dour.
I fear that this game is just going to be a fustercluck because of the weather forecast on Saturday. They’re all going to be complaining about how bad the ice is, it’s too wet, it’s too warm, blahblahblah.
andrew, I’m so jealous that you’re going on leave! That’s so, so, so awesome! And I’m glad you had a great first Christmas with Dylan!
As for the Winter Classic, I’m psyched because the NHL finally got over this stupid idea that the Winter Classic should be the only game that day. There are all kinds of other games on Saturday! Woo-hoo!
They’re all going to be complaining about how bad the ice is, it’s too wet, it’s too warm, blahblahblah.
Yup. They’ve already started that campaign up here. Sheesh.
On another note, I’m looking forward to the outdoor game, although, it’s a bit of a bummer who the two teams are.
I was thinking about creating a Winter Classic drinking game. Like sitting down with a case of PBR and taking a swig every time Crosby’s name is said during the broadcast.
Then I thought twice about it. Because I don’t want to die of alcohol poisoning.
andrew, I’m so jealous that you’re going on leave! That’s so, so, so awesome! And I’m glad you had a great first Christmas with Dylan!
Woot! Going on leave!
And thanks! We did have a fun first Christmas. Glad to hear yours was nice as well!
If I were going to watch the game (HA!) I’d take a swig every time the broadcast makes me go, “Wait, they’re trying to sell the NHL to new fans?!”
There are all kinds of other games on Saturday!
The Sabres play on Saturday, and I feel so bad for the arena staff. After Friday night’s WJC game, they have to take down all the WJC related dashers & ice markings, put up the Sabres stuff, and then replace the WJC stuff in time for Sunday’s 3:30 pm game. Stupid Sabres corporate greed.
After Friday night’s WJC game, they have to take down all the WJC related dashers & ice markings, put up the Sabres stuff, and then replace the WJC stuff in time for Sunday’s 3:30 pm game.
That is crazy.
I know that the Shark Tank is used for everything from college basketball, to MMA, to concerts. I’ve seen a couple of instances where the ice crew has had to tear down whatever’s there at noon and have a sheet of ice ready for the Sharks game by 7:30 pm. No wonder everyone complains about the quality of their ice.
I figured they Sabres were at Boston for that game but I see you’re right, Amy. Ooof. Someone screwed that up. But hey, pulling frantic all-nighters with your coworkers can be fun, sort of, if everyone gets along. Maybe Golisano’s final act as owner will be to buy those guys some pizza. Let’s hope he springs for the good stuff.
If I were the arena staff, I’d intentionally leave some of the WJC stuff in place, just to fuck with everyone.
No Winter Classic for me, we’re probably still driving back home when it’s on. And I don’t really mind.
Definitely no McFlirty tomorrow. It’s ok. I kind of Scott Stevens’ed his girlfriend during pick up hockey today. I’m pretty sure he’s not too pleased with me right now.
I’ll probably be watching the Winter Classic just to see how bad it’s going to get.
Mags, as long as you didn’t intentionally make like Stevens on McFlirty’s girlfriend, he should probably forgive you.
I don’t think I’ll be watching the WC either.
If it were any other teams, not on NBC, not so early on New Years Day, and…I don’t know…came with a free pizza or something, then maybe I’d watch.
pulling frantic all-nighters with your coworkers can be fun, sort of, if everyone gets along
Major caveat there. If everyone gets along. I don’t know if it’s an environment that stimulates getting-along-ness. But what the hell do I know?
as long as you didn’t intentionally make like Stevens on McFlirty’s girlfriend, he should probably forgive you.
I didn’t mean to nail her as hard as I did, that was kind of an accident. And I didn’t do it because she’s his girlfriend. I feel like I definitely deserve forgiveness.
If it were any other teams, not on NBC, not so early on New Years Day, and…I don’t know…came with a free pizza or something, then maybe I’d watch.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Andrew, I like your style.
If it were any other teams, not on NBC, not so early on New Years Day, and…I don’t know…came with a free pizza or something, then maybe I’d watch.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It has to be good free pizza, though. Not, like, Papa John’s or crap like that.
It has to be good free pizza, though. Not, like, Papa John’s or crap like that.
If it came with wings, that would be even better.
I need to stop thinking about pizza & wings. I have my first attempt at homemade beef stew in the oven. That’s what I need to focus on.
Andrew, I like your style.
Ditto.
It has to be good free pizza, though. Not, like, Papa John’s or crap like that.
Domino’s or GTFO!
just kidding. That’s gross.
If it came with wings, that would be even better.
Mmmm…wings.

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Amy, I hope your beef stew turns out awesome! I had the most delicious peanut-butter-and-nutella sandwich for dinner. Maybe the Winter Classic can lure me in with the promise of Nutella. And no Bob Costas.
I had the most delicious peanut-butter-and-nutella sandwich for dinner.
I had the last piece of pumpkin pie from Christmas dinner for dinner tonight. Delish!
Oooh, Carol, that does sound good! I’m having frozen pizza when Pookie gets home from work at 10 tonight. But I had takeout from the greasy Chinese place for a late lunch today with Boomer, so that was nice. I’m eating all healthy-like today. Heh.
I hope your beef stew turns out awesome!
It did! It was perfect for a cold-ish day like today.
I’m so glad your stew was so delish, Amy!
Meanwhile, I think I caused permanent damage to my eyes playing hours of Angry Birds on Pookie’s iPad. That’s my story.
Hooray for tasty food! I’m glad the stew was good :)
I think I caused permanent damage to my eyes playing hours of Angry Birds on Pookie’s iPad.
I imagine it’s better than playing it on an iPhone. I did that over lunch yesterday, when we were waiting for the blizzard to tire itself out. It was retina searing, but so, so fun.
I’m going to hate Tall Swiss Dude. I just know it. I haven’t even met him yet, but he’s at a major disadvantage because he’s never going to be as cool as McFlirty *sadface*
Once you download Angry Birds onto your device of choice, you don’t need to be connected to the internet to play it, right?
Right, Amy. So…. Download it and watch your eyes explode! :)
Just wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Download it and watch your eyes explode!
How could you *watch* them explode if they’re in the process of exploding?
(Tall Swiss Dude turned out to be Tall South African Dude. He was acceptably cool, if only because he spoke Dutch [well, Afrikaanders. Close enough])
I LOVE Angry Birds!
Glad all y’alls Christmases were good. I just went to Vegas for 2 days and drank a margarita out of a guitar.
My team has been freaking RAD. I think I’ve somehow traveled into an alternate universe. Do I actually have an acorn for a head?
Do I actually have an acorn for a head?
Maybe. Was there anything other than margarita in that guitar?
I am waiting for my oil change and Angry Birds is helping the time pass very well. My phone-holding hand is starting to cramp, though.
I just want to let everyone know that I am thoroughly enjoying my last day (only for a few months, but whatev) at work today. It’s magical.
Hey everybody! I hope everyone’s out partying hearty for the new year. Um, just like us? Yeah, I’m sitting on my couch in pajamas watching the Devils. Sometimes I wonder how my life has come to this. Heh.
Anyway, Happy New Year!!
(And andrew, was that an “in your face, losers who are going to be at work for the next few months” drive-by? Or did it just seem like that to me? :P)
Hey y’all! I managed to watch the Devils game today, and you won! You’re welcome!
Wait, Chris Mason is on the China Doll Cheeks… Crap!
Since I have a 3 week old, I’m at home in my pjs, hoping she’ll cooperate so I can go to bed at 10. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year everybody! Congrats on the Devils win! I’m watching the Stars play the dirty Canucks. (Sorry, alix!) (Just kidding. That was just in case you were listening.)
Hey Karen! Thanks for the Devils win! I knew something was different tonight, and I should have guessed it was you. :D
And tell all about the new sprog! What’s her name? How adorable is she? How optimistic are you that you’ll be asleep by 10? (And Happy New Year!!)
Ew! The dirty Canucks? How filthy! I hope the Stars are winning.
Her name is Nora, she is SUPER adorable, with loads of dark hair. Judging by the last 2 nights, 10 is pretty unlikely. Hope springs eternal, though.
Congratulations, Karen! (On the baby, not the Devils win. Although both are exciting. Heh.)
Ew! The dirty Canucks? How filthy! I hope the Stars are winning.
HEH! No such luck! Sorry, Patty (in Dallas).
“Let’s get it on!” – Ryan Kelser, 2010 – Open Practice
Karen, she sounds DARLING. Nora is such a pretty name! I hope that you get your 10:00 wish tonight, but regardless, sounds like 2010 was full of blessings that should spill over into 2011. :D

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It’s never not funny!
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: It’s never not funny!
At least for the two of us, anyway. I must admit, Mike’s tired of it. But I will NEVER tire of that!
Also never not funny? Mark Crawford’s hair. ZING!
Happy New Year to me! I’ll be picking Mike up from work at 11:30 tonight…so I should almost be home by the time 2011 arrives. I’m not complaining. Dude’s bringing home the bacon.
Also never not funny? Mark Crawford’s hair. ZING!
I’ll give you that one. :P
Congratulations, Karen! I love the name Nora, too. She sounds adorable.
Mike’s tired of it.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yeah, well, tell him he’s being a stick in the mud. :P
And it sounds like a party at Chez Browne tonight!
Happy New Year, Everyone!
Although the Canucks are trying to ruin mine. Stupid freakish Sedin twins.
Congratulations Karen on the new baby! Nora is a wonderful choice!
I LOVE this game. I want to take it behind the school and grope it a little.
Happy New Year, Myra! Sorry about the Stars game. Things aren’t going well for the Trannies tonight, so I’m sad, too. (Oh, wait — the Devils won, didn’t they? That’s supposed to make me happy, isn’t it? :P)
The Kid finally got around to making her chocolate cupcakes with peppermint icing. I’ve had two tonight.
She also was doing some research on Kansas City and found out that the NHL team they briefly had in KC went on to become the New Jersey Devils. She said she was going to demand that the Ookies return them. Dave and I both responded with, “I bet they would gladly give them back right now.”
“Let’s get it on!” – Ryan Kelser, 2010 – Open Practice
I’m really starting to enjoy this Kesler character.
And I was out and socializing with people at an open house and now I’m back home to watch some hockey and then the ball drop.
Congratulations on your daughter, Karen! Nora is a lovely name.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, you guys can have them. For THIS year. Next year, with the tasty #1 overall pick, we get them back. :P
She said she was going to demand that the Ookies return them. Dave and I both responded with, “I bet they would gladly give them back right now.”
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I will TOTALLY give them to her in exchange for a cupcake. Or maybe two. :P (I’d kind of forgotten about that, though. How cool that you guys are moving to the Devils’ roots!)
Myra, whenever Canadians bitch about Sunbelt teams they also bitch that the League has been considering KC for a new team if they ever need a place for one to go. So fingers crossed!
Yeah, KC almost got the Pens!
Yeah, we are going to become big boosters of the move-whatever-team-currently-sucks-at-attendance to Kansas City group.
Kansas City Panthers, anyone?
Oh, wait, isn’t that where Clemmensen plays?
Um. Nevermind.
Oh, wait, isn’t that where Clemmensen plays?
Um. Nevermind.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How about the Islanders? You could have Tavares and Okposo!
I could go for Tavares and the Islanders.
Just as long as it’s not the Stars, Myra! When you’re at some future game between the Dallas Stars and the Kansas City Islanders (um…), are you you going to be the annoying fan of the out-of-town team? Just don’t be like the Dallas Wings fan. :P
That is a tough question. I’ve actually wondered about that if we go to St Louis for some games. I think I’ll have to go anonymous. I might get hurt if I wore my Otter sweater.
I would love it if they called them the Missouri River Rats but I don’t think that would market that well.
We used to be out-of-town fans when we were in Arizona. It’s really not that bad, you know! :P
I just broke out some catmilk for the Boyz…it really is party time at Chez Brownes!
Happy New Year everyone! Happy New Year Baby Nora!
::pots clanging, party blowers blowing, corks popping::
Happy New Year for reals, yo! It’s 2011 — the year the Devils win the Stanley Cup! Wait, what?
No Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve????
This sucks, Dallas!
Thanks! We’re pretty pleased with her.
I went to bed at 0:30! Thanks Nora! Clearly 2011 will be a great year.
But probably not for the Blue Jackets. They kind of suck at hockey, fron the few games I’ve caught.
Helloooo, happy new year everyone!
So thanks to the shitty weather in Pittsburgh, I won’t be able to watch the winter classic?! Well thanks for nothing Pennsylvania, that SUCKS. :(
