What the fuck? We got settled in front of the TV a bit late tonight, and what do we find? LOW-DEF? BOOOOO! Come on, Devils — overcome these technical horribleness! You can do it!

So far I am unimpressed. Not w/the low-def, my TV is always LD. But NJ seems like Jason Arnott from his Edmonton days – “just not all that into it tonight”.
But NJ seems like Jason Arnott from his Edmonton days – “just not all that into it tonight”.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Yeah, this doesn’t look all that impressive here. The Devils need to take a page out of the fire we built tonight’s book. It took FOREVER to grill our burgers because the fire was an enormous raging inferno, and that’s what the Devils need to be. More raging inferno!
That is NOT a raging inferno. Hmph.
Bleh. But, I expected it, especially since Chico insisted earlier that the Thrashers didn’t score in the 1st period and of course NJ would never give up a 1st period goal. I figured then they were doomed.
I’d pull Marty now. Not because it’s his fault, but because they need something to wake them up.
especially since Chico insisted earlier that the Thrashers didn’t score in the 1st period and of course NJ would never give up a 1st period goal.
Yeah, that was pretty much the writing on the wall, wasn’t it?
It’s been happening a lot slower than it has with other players, but I have to admit: I have a hockey man-crush on Mark Fayne.
Awww, that’s so cute, Gunner! I think you and Fayne make a cute man-crush couple.
I hope Jacques brought lozanges. He’s going to need something to help his throat after he gets through yelling.
I love Fayne because I love saying “Fayne” in the cadence of “McBain”. And I love that it never gets old.
I hadn’t really seen Fayne but I just looked him up on the NJ site – that’s some head of hair. He could lend hair to several of his teammates – and members of the coaching staff, and have plenty to spare.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sue, you’re so right! (And that’s totally the first time I’ve looked at a picture of Fayne. Huh. That wasn’t what I was expecting.)
My man-crush is entirely built on a foundation of his willingness to shoot from the blueline, and his ability to put said shots on net.
Gunner, those are totally foxy traits. I think that’s a great foundation for a man-crush. (Also, those are traits that are woefully rare in Devils.)
WOOOOO!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOO!!! Playing for the 2-2 tie! :D
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I clearly need to leave the room more often! The Devils are all nervous with me watching them, aren’t they?
There should be a rule that Chris Butler HAS to play when I watch a game live.
And WOOOOOOO!!!!! for a goal by Patty! Patty (in New Jersey) that is.
Patty (in New Jersey) that is.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: He’s my favorite Patty who also happens to be a hockey player.
If Chris Butler was playing, the Furry Canes wouldn’t have scored that goal.
Blersus has gifted me with a game called by John Forslund (for a Canes game? WTFingF, Blersus?) with Brian Englblom between the glass. I may do a violence to my speakers.
You’re totally right about Chris Butler. (And BOOOO! Furry Canes!)
He’s my favorite Patty who also happens to be a hockey player.
::sideways glance to Patty Kaleta:: Me too.
The headline for the Sabres/Canes game on NHL.com is “Crunch Time” but when I read it at first I thought it said “Crunchy Time.” I was like, “How do they know?!”
Kathleen, if Chris Butler was playing, this game would be called by Clive Owen and a shirtless Chris Evans would be between the glass.
They know. It was totally a shout-out!
I was like, “How do they know?!”
How can you look at him and not just, well, know?
Kathleen, if Chris Butler was playing, this game would be called by Clive Owen and a shirtless Chris Evans would be between the glass.
Now, if that happened, I might change my mind about the changes at Blersus. Who can I write about this?
when I read it at first I thought it said “Crunchy Time.” I was like, “How do they know?!”
How can you look at him and not just, well, know?
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: And yeah, he’s just Crunchy. Everyone knows. Heh. (Also, I can only assume the Blersus has been watching us very closely ever since they didn’t give us that playoff tracker.)
And for the record, I love John Forslund!
I was like, “How do they know?!”
How can you look at him and not just, well, know?
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Helloooooooooo Captain America. What pretty eyes you have…
If the store at NHL.com starts selling sparkly-assed pants, then I’ll totally know they know.
Captain America’s eyes were my focus in The Nanny Diaries. Now it’s alllllll pecs. God is a woman and Chris Evans’s pecs are proof.
Now, if that happened, I might change my mind about the changes at Blersus. Who can I write about this?
Seriously. Can you imagine a game by Clive Owen? Oooohhhh and Matt Damon??
Speaking of sparkly-assed pants, the other day we were watching a Ducks game and when they showed the Ice Girls, Pookie yelped, “They’re all brunettes. What did you and mcguggs do???”
Oooohhhh and Matt Damon??
Matt Damon has unimpressive pipes. How about we let him do the screentime, but have him voiced by Russell Crowe?
“They’re all brunettes. What did you and mcguggs do???”
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I was all emotional because Kurt is singing “Blackbird” on Glee (which is one of my favorite songs) and that just made me laugh up my pasta!
Oohhh. I’m down with Russell Crowe. I’m a fan of Matthew McFadden as well.
I am amazed this season I have had to deal with one low-def game before cablevision actually started providing the “overflow” and apparently the “over-over-flow” channels in high-def. High-def Devils is the only thing keeping me from FIOS.
Uhhh. I think Brian Engblom replaced the raccoon on his head with a rat. It’s weird to see someone known for horrible hair, get an even worse hair cut. It’s like Donald Trump doing the Caesar.
Apparently the Isles wore themselves out complaining about the refs in the game against NJ (and after), they are now down 5-2 to the Rangers. That’s just not helpful.
Why is Engblom wearing his “Chris Farley” hair critter tonight? Did he figure he was going to sound so dumb he might as well dress the part?
(I am VERY cranky about the team calling this game, in case you didn’t notice.)
Kathleen, jinx!
Uhhh. I think Brian Engblom replaced the raccoon on his head with a rat. It’s weird to see someone known for horrible hair, get an even worse hair cut. It’s like Donald Trump doing the Caesar.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I think we should write him a letter. Just to be helpful.
I’m a fan of Matthew McFadden as well.
I like him, but I keep remembering him in the bad (i.e., Kiera Knightly) version of Pride & Predjudice, and also in the monk’s robes from Pillars of the Earth. The robes didn’t do much for him, ditto for Kiera Knightly.
Meh. No matter how he’s wearing his hair, McF always looks like a priest to me.
The robes didn’t do much for him, ditto for Kiera Knightly.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I didn’t see Pillars of the Earth, but I’ve watched him in MI5 and his voice makes my lady parts tingle.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Rookies are awesome, why don’t we have more rookies? Rookies forever!
BOR! BOR! BOR!
Wow. The Furry Canes power play makes Englom’s hair rat look respectable.
Oh hell. We just killed an official. Dude’s face is cracked open.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I love rookies!
Those crazy kids!
I’m down with Russell Crowe.
Sex monster!:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1366148/Russell-Crowe-Oscar-winner-appears-overweight-New-Zealand-charity-cricket-match.html
Oh hell. We just killed an official. Dude’s face is cracked open.
Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to help our cause. Damn you, Websie!
Mark Mancari, I know you don’t realise that the announcers are talking about you right now, but it’s a good rule of thumb to avoid scratching your man parts anytime you might be televised regardless.
Chris Butler wouldn’t have killed an official.
I can’t believe these rejects are tainting the seats of RJ and Harry Neale.
Mark Mancari, I know you don’t realise that the announcers are talking about you right now, but it’s a good rule of thumb to avoid scratching your man parts anytime you might be televised regardless.
Obviously, he grew up watching baseball players and thinking scratching your balls was something all pro athletes did in public.
but it’s a good rule of thumb to avoid scratching your man parts anytime you might be televised regardless.
I noticed that too. His mom must be proud!
I also notices that Weber the Cat has the remote in between his legs. There must be a connection with the name and rubbing man parts.
His mom must be proud!
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Oh, and thanks for that mental image.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Even if this game gets bad, there’s no way I’m changing the channel anytime soon.
I realize that my Mark Fayne man-crush started this all, but I don’t think a comment thread has ever made me so uncomfortable.
Man parts. Pecs. Rubbing. Priests.
My Y chromosome is twitching unhappily.
Don’t forget Englom’s hair critter, Gunner. That should cause discomfort.
Man parts. Pecs. Rubbing. Priests.
My Y chromosome is twitching unhappily.
Well, someone mentioned tingling lady parts.
But it’s still twitching!
It does, but after the first half of this season, I’m used to feeling nauseous.
For all that Doc has lost a step as a play-by-play man, there still isn’t anyone who does a frantic final minute of a game like he does.
My Y chromosome is twitching unhappily.
Power tools! Beer! Funfetti.

Moist. Gristle. thrusting. Lubricant.
BOOOOOOOOOOO-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, wait, no funfetti?
Yarrrgh! Gah! Spittle! YEESH.
Speaking of funfetti.
Good funfetti!
Well, I certainly didn’t expect video review to help us out there.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Is it me or could Adam Oates be a great b-movie Dracula?
WordPress is eating my comments. :(

:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I was thinking he looked like he rushed to the game after appearing in a community theater production of “Guys & Dolls”.
Moist. Gristle. Thrusting. Lubricant.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Thanks for classing up the joint!
Acorns! Acorns fucking everywhere!
Could Travis possibly look more adorkable? (Unless it’s a trick of the low-def… :P)
WordPress is eating my comments. :(
Moist. Gristle. Thrusting. Lubricant.
WordPress is cluching its pearls.
Acorns! Acorns fucking everywhere!
Stop eating my comments you stupid website!
It’s always funnier to not check the score during the game and guess what the Devils are doing by your comments. I thought the game was 10-2 Thrashers. So I was slightly surprised to see the Devils won. :D
Moist. Gristle. Thrusting. Lubricant.
Are you playing Scrabble?
Moist. Gristle. Thrusting. Lubricant.
HA! It’s like the Tim Symbol (it’s like the Batman Spotlight but instead it’s shaped like NJ Devil in a kilt) alerted you to this thread!
Tim, I just informed Senor Spam that you are not spam, so here’s hoping he takes the hint.
It’s always funnier to not check the score during the game and guess what the Devils are doing by your comments. I thought the game was 10-2 Thrashers.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Surely by now you’ve been able to calibrate your negativity-reader to IPB levels? :P
I really like the Sabres right now so my negativity reader is bedazzled with butterfly shapes. Even Engblom’s hair critter isn’t fazing me. Normally the Sabres going on a power play would have me praying they don’t let in a shortie, but right now I’m confident they’ll score!
HA! It’s like the Tim Symbol (it’s like the Batman Spotlight but instead it’s shaped like NJ Devil in a kilt) alerted you to this thread!
Speaking of, marching in the Hoboken St. Paddy’s Parade was awesome.
http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/196274_10150103646746709_652166708_6346471_3949976_n.jpg
That’s so awesome, Tim! You’re a St. Paddy’s SUPERSTAR!
Rookie’s got some impressive butt-chin.
No green bowler, Tim? Patty (in NJ) would be so disappointed!
They should interview Josefson more often. They can just let him babble. About nothing.
The picture didn’t completely load at first so there was a black bar covering the screen where your kilt is. I just figured you marched without pants and they were censoring it.
my negativity reader is bedazzled with butterfly shapes.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
But let’s be honest. Today’s hair critter doesn’t inspire horror so much as pity.
Heh. I think Staffy just got away with blatantly punching a Furrycane in the head.
I can’t believe they let him go on tv like that. This is why football will always beat out hockey.
And I said “beat out” not “beat off” so calm your chromosomes, Gunner.
No green bowler, Tim? Patty (in NJ) would be so disappointed!
I took it off for the march. It’s here though:
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/195921_10150103645871709_652166708_6346460_623909_n.jpg

I did march without pants, but no one can censor me (except Senor Spam)!
And I said “beat out” not “beat off” so calm your chromosomes, Gunner.
Sounds like hockey wins the other way around.
Tim, I’m guessing it’s easier being the one without pants when you’re a hell of a lot taller than all the other guys. That mentality works for my 6’1 grandma.
Sounds like hockey wins the other way around.
I’ll do what it takes for this game, dammit.
I’m so glad there was a green bowler in there somewhere.
I took it off for the march. It’s here though
Elias would be so proud
Tim, I’m guessing it’s easier being the one without pants when you’re a hell of a lot taller than all the other guys. That mentality works for my 6’1 grandma.
I’m not sure what you’re insinuating about me or your grandma, so I’m going to just smile and nod.
:^:::::::::::::::::::: You’re tall. When you look like you can beat up everyone else, they let you go without pants. My grandma has that cross stitched on a toss pillow.
Effhole.
Chris Butler didn’t play in the loss to the Leafs or tonight.
Just sayin.
I think Staffy just got away with blatantly punching a Furrycane in the head.
That makes up for the Furrycane that blatantly punched Gerbe in the head earlier in the game.
Hey all from KC house hunting land. We put a bid in on a house last night. Now it’s wait and see time. Here is a link to it. Plenty of room for visitors. And we have found a great location for certain people who might be interested in taking pictures of great old architecture. Just sayin.
http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/8307-Nw-82nd-Street_Kansas-City_MO_64152_M80098-35511
Myra, the house looks fabulous! The kitchen looks nice and big and I love the wood floor in it. And a screened in porch?! Heavenly! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you get it!
Hi there! Long time no see!
Sorry I wasn’t around more, but I’ve been really busy with work and my computer recently decided he didn’t want to be part of a world where Philly, Boston and Washington lead their respective divisions, and subsequently died. Blergh.
I have two things to say, though:
1. Myra, this house looks awesome! I hope you guys get it!
2. The Devils literally started winning again the day I dropped Brodeur in another fantasy league. So you can either thank me, or berate me for clinging to Marty for so long! :P
I have to say, I’m REALLY impressed with them. I really hope they squeeze in and upset the Flyers in the first round. That’s my dream-scenario.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY ACCEPTED OUR OFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soon we will be the proud owners of two houses. Yeah. That takes the wind out of my sails a little.
But….we got the house!!! Guest room soon to be available to all IPBers! Of course you have to want to come to Kansas City for it….so…..
Woooooooooo! Excellent news, Myra!! :D
Yay Myra! So great! Is that a greenhouse or a tiny shed? I love the kitchen floor.
Thank you! The wood floors in the kitchen/breakfast room are fabulously old timey and are in great condition. It has what they call a Florida room on the back instead of a deck. It is enclosed with sliding glass doors on all sides so you can open the doors and have a screened in porch effect. It’s one of my favorite parts, that and the kitchen, breakfast room and family room are basically one big room across the back of the house.
SQUEEEEEE.
Congratulations on the house, Myra!
CONGRATULATIONS, MYRA & HUB!!! That’s great news! I hope your new fabulous house treats you well!
CONGRATULATIONS, MYRA!!!! AND HUB!! AND KID!!!! The house looks FABULOUS! I am seriously jealous of those beautiful floors, and, needless to say, that Florida room. Man, that looks just DIVINE. The yard looks wonderful, too, and all the rooms look so nice! WOO HOOOO! And you say you’re scouting photo locations already? Hmmm… Sounds intriguing! :D
And Grrrreg! So good to see you today! It’s all exciting, all the time here at IPB today!
I just noticed the specs on the house, Myra — you’re getting a MANSION! That place is HUGE!
You’re getting a mansion for what it would cost to buy a, well, you can’t get anything for that here. Well, you can buy a very expensive car and live in it.

:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Although depending on where you’re planning to live in your car, you might need to buy a less expensive one to factor in the cost of parking. :P
Congrats on your lovely new house, Myra & Dave! I have kitchen envy like everyone else, but is it weird to admit that I really like the bathroom too? Can’t wait to see how you guys make the place yours.
my computer recently decided he didn’t want to be part of a world where Philly, Boston and Washington lead their respective divisions, and subsequently died. Blergh.
Gregg, I’m so sorry but – :^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::!!!!!!
Thanks everyone! Needless to say the housing market is severely depressed here. There is no way we could afford this house in Dallas. We saw three vacant houses for every occupied house.

I started a flickr to show our families the pics we took of the house. I thought my IPB family might like to see them as well.
Hey, a severely depressed housing market is just what you need to get a kick-ass house! Excellent timing, moving there now! :D
And I’m so excited to see you on Flickr… :D
Myra, thanks for sending those photos! The house looks so happy!
Myra, thanks for putting up the photos, your images look they have much more light and show the place much better.
I thought the same thing, Sue! The real estate agency should hire Myra as a photographer! I can’t believe the listing didn’t include pictures of all the windows in the den and breakfast room. Did they not want to sell the house or something?!
I totally agree that the lafs2loud pictures are WAY better than the actual real estate listing’s pictures. By miles! I can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s become a home! :D
Wow, those floors are gorgeous. (Seriously, your photos show them off so much better than the other ones.) Love all the big windows. And that fireplace is awesome.
Gracie was the designated photographer. Yeah, I couldn’t believe they didn’t show the family room. You can’t tell from our pictures how great the detailing on the fireplace and builtins is.
Grace, huh. Well, I can’t believe the real estate agency isn’t hiring you so you can pretend to be the photographer and then have to explain in a madcap way why you can’t visit houses without your precocious daughter. :D

Um, sorry, I can only take pictures in the afternoon after school is out…..
There is a little old town that has been over taken by this suburb that we drove around yesterday. It’s all these old houses on steep hills, fancy restaurants, a beautiful park on the river and a lovely old Presby college that has been built literally into the side of the hills.
Grace’s comment was we have to take Patty here to take photos and then maybe she can use them to lure the Ookies here. (She has ulterior motives, she wants pick all your brains about photography.)
(She has ulterior motives, she wants pick all your brains about photography.)
I read that as”she wants all your brains”. Oh nooo, Grace is a ZOMBIE!! *runs away*
Y’all laugh, but it actually occurred to me recently that I might look into real estate photography as a job. For a few minutes, I thought it might be an original idea, but after googling it, I realize I might be too late to the party to be able to do it for a living and still be mediocre. :D
I can’t wait to see Myra’s house in person! (Isn’t that a great sweater she’s wearing?)
Um, sorry, I can only take pictures in the afternoon after school is out…..

And Grace is welcome to my brain! I’m sure she’d have far better uses for it than I do! :D
I am very much looking forward to visiting Chez Myra and seeing the sights of KC. And eating the BBQ. Heh.
Oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everybody!
Did you hear about the Irish boomerang? It doesn’t come back, but it sings a lot of songs about how it longs to. :P
Ooh, I totally forgot about the BBQ there! I’ll have to sample it. Do a little compare and contrast. After I have a nice big KC strip. ;P
We should all go to KC together! Does the Myra Mansion have enough bedrooms for everyone, or will someone have to crash in Grace’s lounge? :P
Oh, and happy St. Patrick’s Day, too! I’m wearing a plastic green bowler in spirit today.
::doffs a green bowler to everyone::
I’m all about sampling some KC BBQ!
I’m wearing a plastic green bowler in spirit today.
I’m not wearing green but I am drinking green tea. Does that count?
Happy St Patrick’s Day!! I’m not wearing green today, but I do plan on drinking at work and swearing a lot, so here’s to you, Ireland!
Myra, the house is AWESOME!! And I totally agree about Gracie’s photos. I got through the real estate shots and said, “Well the siding is nice and the neighborhood looks well paved…” so it was nice to get an actual idea of what the house looks like thanks to your Dorothea Lange-in-training! (I did a report on her in high school). Clearly Gracie understands that beautiful windows sell a house better than the air conditioning unit.
Grrrreg, I agree with your computer. Apparently my computer feels the same way today. Either that or it misses the speed and efficiency of the dial-up days.
Hooray for green bowlers, kilts, and were those hurley clubs I spotted?
YAY A HOUSE FOR MYRA AND HUB AND KID!
Greg, I’m sorry ’bout the ‘puter.
Gunner, you and Fayne make a great hockey-man-crush-couple.
Ookies, I’m sorry you have to watch LD hockey. That’s terrible.
Everyone I’ve missed, I LUFF YOUSE.
Anyhoo, I had my very last hockey practice EVER today (yes, ever. My broken body and I have had it), and next week I start fencing classes. No rest for the wicked.
Mags, you’re leaving hockey? That’s so sad! I hope it’s a decision you’re making happily, and that fencing treats you as well (and less painfully) as hockey did.
Party in KC!!! Let’s see the official guest room will have a double bed. Grace’s lounge will have a twin bed and a twin trundle. And not as comfortable but available, sleeper sofas in the family room and probably hockey den. Plus a full size inflatable bed.
Slumber party in the hockey den?
That sounds awesome, Myra! And it sounds like when we’re not around, you could run a Stars-themed B&B. :D
