I think both sides of this deal are. I realize that both teams benefited from it, but I have to agree with Crossing Broad’s initial assessment that the Kings are a lot closer to the Stanley Cup right now than the Flyers are. (Long-term, who knows, but starting next season? Bryzgalov better be ready to face just a little bit of Philly-fan pressure. Heh.)

Well, I find the Kings to be really bland, and also very, very difficult for us to watch, considering how late they’re on. So… this is a very unpleasant turn of events as far as accessibility and convenience are concerned. Also, I really like the Flyers broadcast team — the Kings broadcasts are going to be a huge step down. And I like having a tranny that’s noxious. That’s kind of the entire point. What good is a tranny that people don’t think is gross??? In short, this trade blows.

well…now we have Richards and Penner so hopefully we’ll score more goals. So now that I’ve had to time take long walks around my neighborhood and ponder this trade, I’m ok about it. It’ll be tough seeing my beloved Simmonds in that awful orange sweater, but I think Richards will be a good addition to the team.

I find it fascinating how the Flyers constantly implode. I put yesterday’s events up with great events in Flyers history like bringing Lindros back from a long injury in a series they were winning 3-1, running Cechmanek out of town when the Flyers lost to Ottawa in the playoffs and were shut out in the series 3 times, falling in and out of love with Brian Boucher more times than anyone can count, and relegating Bobrovsky to 3rd string (not just second string) goalie this year after one bad playoff game. Since I have never liked the Flyers, it gives me great pleasure to predict a first round loss for them in next year’s playoffs. I hope you Ookies are very happy with your new trannies and Myra, you should be at the fun part of moving. I hate packing everything up but unpacking it and painting the blank canvas of your house should be fun.

If it helps I also don’t have center ice (or, as of now a TV much less cable) so these days it takes a concerted effort for me to watch hockey. Thus, mostly just Sabres games.

Because the Nashville GM doesn’t appear to be insane and even if he was, Roberto has a full no trade clause. I don’t see him waiving it to move to Nashville (although, if the pressure becomes too much, maybe suddenly he’ll want to go someplace where hockey comes in way back on the populrity scale behind country music and football, and he would be under less scrutiny than the players who are married to country singers).

They were “interesting” for the short time they had Dan Cloutier in net. He couldn’t stop much of anything, so every game he played was an adventure. Now that they have better goaltending, it’s less interesting.
The Flyers’ on-again, off-again relationship with Boucher has been amazing. Each time the fans managed to convince themselves that he was going to be the savior. It was like a couple where one keeps taking the other back thinking that really, this time it will be true love – but it never is.
