Bleh. They just interviewed Clemmer on the pre-game show. I turned off the sound.
Yes, it must amaze the NHL that some of us could be more interested in DeBoer vs. his former team than the glorious (?) return of Sid’s caboose. The Isles are sacrificing a rookie Swedish goalie against the Pens.
I have to be honest — my cold, black heart has melted a bit with happiness at Sid’s return. I don’t know what’s come over me. :P
Rut-Roh. Egg is back in the line-up. It’s not like Palmieri was doing anything great, but I my heart sinks seeing Pelley’s name in the line-up.
I’m just glad the when-will-Crosby-return saga is over. Of course, now we have the, can-Sid-take-a-legal-hit narrative (since there was nothing illegal about collision with Steckel).
Well, at least with Palmieri not playing we’ll be rid of the curs’d number 12.
I thought the big story of today was whether the Stars can win again.
I was just massively confused by Chico calling Pelley “Rod”. I was like, “What is he calling Egg?”
I offer up readings from the holy playbook, for you Schnookie:
Submit yourselves therefore to Larsson. Resist the Crosby, and he will flee from you.
–Jakob 4:7
I will put my defensive responsibilities within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their blue-liner, and they shall be my people.
–Jarmo 31.31-34
That’s almost certainly a concussion.
Excuse me, but the NJ defenseman winds up lying on the ise, bleeding from the hit and NJ gets the penalty? Who was it? Did Volchenkov get 2 minutes for bleeding?
Submit yourselves therefore to Larsson. Resist the Crosby, and he will flee from you.
:^::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
And I have to agree that that definitely looked like a severe injury to Volchenkov’s glass jaw.
The league offices must have been very displeased to see the Devils get so many penalties last game.
Who was it? Did Volchenkov get 2 minutes for bleeding?
Was it Kovalchuk for his needless “retribution” for the hit? (I have no patience for idiotic roughing after unpenalized hits.)
That must have been it. But they never told us.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Also, if that check isn’t an illegal blow to the head, then I don’t know what is.
Double WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was all Larsson!
PETR SYKORA BELIEVES IN SECOND CHANCES!!!!!
And I have to agree that that definitely looked like a severe injury to Volchenkov’s glass jaw.
Did he have the glass jaw on the Sens or is this something that has started since he’s joined NJ?
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know who should win the Hart Trophy this year? Zubrus!
WHO IS THIS UNSTOPPABLE JUGGERNAUT?
Apparently some of the Russians who played for the Panthers last year REALLY hate DeBoer. Said he was too much of a taskmaster. This has got to sting.
WHO IS THIS UNSTOPPABLE JUGGERNAUT?
I have no idea, but I’m afraid that if I move I might startle it and it’ll run away. Don’t leave me, unstoppable-juggernaut Devils!
As for DeBoer being too much of a taskmaster, if I was a Panthers fan I’d have wanted to hear those players were bag skating every single day for the last ten years. Yeesh.
Said he was too much of a taskmaster.
Now we know what attracted Lou.
Well that was gratifying.
We don’t have to play any more periods of this game. I’m wholly satisfied with that first one.
Chico on the Panthers feed. Sorry you guys are missing it.
I read the article in the Sun Sentinal where DeBoer gets ripped by some of his former players (and one of the Russians is the most vocal). The interesting thing is that if what they say is accurate there is no way we should see what is happening with either Larsson or Henrique. They say if you make a mistake you are too scared to continue because he’ll rip you for it – especially the young players. But, we’ve seen both Larsson and Henrique make some major mistakes out there and come back and play – with confidence – on the next shift, in the next game.
We don’t have to play any more periods of this game. I’m wholly satisfied with that first one.
Game called on account of happiness?
Chico on the Panthers feed. Sorry you guys are missing it.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Thanks, I’m good on the Chico front. :P
Game called on account of happiness?
Absolutely! That should be allowed!!
And that’s really interesting about the criticism of DeBoer. If he really was like that in Florida, he’s clearly learned from his mistakes.
Say what you want to about Egg, but that was an impressive display against a much larger fighter.
See? We should have just stopped after one period.
Is it just me, or is it getting funfetti here?
Ok, now I’m unhappy. Dammit
And that’s really interesting about the criticism of DeBoer.
The Panthers feed also had Blandy who said that DeBoer is black and white and if you don’t do it his way, you don’t play. The Devils probably understand the philosophy more than the Panthers did.
Chico must be hallucinating, Versteeg touched it once. Fayne touched it three times.
Chico must be hallucinating</i?
I thought that was Chico's natural state.
I thought that was Chico’s natural state.

That’s a good point. The Devils are a team that has historically responded pretty much only to the Lemaires of the world…
DeBoer might want to ask them WTF they thought they were doing in the second period. I know Marty is playing better recently, but they pretty much just left him out there to dry.
How did the Panthers not score there? And, more importantly, why weren’t we able to call the game done at the first intermission?
FUNFETTI
Very, very large funfetti.
I guess the juggernaut was stoppable after all. :(
What the bloody hell is happening in Florida? It’s like watching 20 men develop Alzheimer’s extremely rapidly.
Mudder fucker
It’s like watching 20 men develop Alzheimer’s extremely rapidly.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: That made me laugh through my tears. And my retching. That was horrid. Talk about the thrill of victory quickly giving way to the agony of defeat.
That was horrible
I guess Versus showed the right game after all, I know I wish I wouldn’t have watched the Devils last night. I was especially disappointed with the great Elias, namesake and founder of the mighty Elias Sports Bureau, whose lazy backchecking left the Florida guy wide open for the tying shorthanded goal.
Wait, Mike, was Patty’s lazy backchecking also your fault? Are you a bad witch again??
No tonight’s game against Columbus is the one everybody has been looking forward to. If the Devils can actually keep from losing 8-2 to the worst team in the league, I’ll have something to be thankful for. You know, something other than the great hockey messiah’s twig and berries returning to Pierre Mcguire’s lips.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We don’t name names but someone got a nice b-day present last night when their favorite player scored the overtime goal (Wh-OTT a game winner) and they got to see it in person.
I hope everyone’s having a great Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Tryptophan is strong stuff.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We are most thankful that Dave’s sister is responding well to her weekly chemotherapy and was able to come for the festivities yesterday. (She had a double mastectomy at the end of September.)
Double hugs to everyone from Mama Myra!
Happy Thanksgiving to IPB. Here’s to the Devils beating the New York Knicks Hockey team today and tomorrow.
Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone (and a belated Happy Thursday to the non-Americans in the house). Here’s to hoping all of our teams come out of their turkey comas in time to play some good, clean, winning hockey.
Happy belated Thanksgiving! I’m glad to hear everyone’s doing well!
Well, other than Devils fans after that game yesterday. Gah! So close!
