Whew! Stately IPB Manor is turning back to normal in the wake of the holiday, and our last Christmas miracle of this year was mercifully turning off the Devils/Hurricanes game before the whole “Cam Ward getting credited with a goal” debacle. (Was that the Greatest Nickledebacle Ever? Perhaps.) So now that we’re ready to buckle down and focus, we’re sure the Devils are too. Right? Right?

Yes, it is true. Gomez has not played all the games this year, but I don’t know whether that was due to injury or whether they were trying to motivate him by benching him. Because he has sucked. If Ward hadn’t been playing NJ when he was credited w/the goal, it would have been more than worth it to see that post on PuckDaddy about CammyJams having more goals, 1, than Gomer does this year.

I have this fear that Lou will wait until the day he quits and the last thing he will do is re-acquire Gomez. It’s not like he doesn’t know what the fans think, apparently during the Niedermayer ceremonies they had testimonials from former teammates and coaches on the jumbotron. People were polite when MacLean was on, they were even polite when Holik was on. But, apparently, they booed mercilessly when Gomez was on.

Hey y’all. I got a Roku XS for Christmas. It’s amazing how this little box that’s smaller than a puck can stream hockey in better quality and less lag than my PS3. I also got Chico’s book ,”Tales from the New Jersey Devils Locker Room”. I didn’t even know he wrote a book, he needs to take lessons from Stan on how to pimp yourself. I’m so close to switching to the Sabres feed tonight though. This time it’s Chico and not Steve getting on my nerves though. Yes, Chico, I saw Chuckles take like a zillion shots on the power play, but I also every single one go high, wide, or both.

Frisby, that’s awesome that they have a device that makes streaming games better! As for Chico, maybe the problem is that you’ve read his book, and now you feel like you’ve spent entirely too much time with him? (I have been doing a bang-up job of ignoring him tonight. I recommend doing some seed shopping — all this dreaming of the coming summer’s tomatoes is making Chico fade into an almost pleasant buzz in the background…)

Chico has been bad, but this is in no way the worst I’ve ever seen him. He’s sucking up to Kovy (which is still hilarious if you remember how he used to rip him when Kovy was a Thrasher) but we expect that from Chico. He’s gotten some penalties blatently wrong…but even he admits he should just stop trying. I just wish he would stop complaining about the trapzoid, even though I agree w/him. He should know by now it will not go away until Marty retires.

I was checking the final rosters for the Winter Classic Alumni game. I see Richter still couldn’t get medical clearance to play because of his concussion hsitory. How strange is that…Lindros can play (not only in that game but he plays pick-up hockey several times a week). But Richter still can’t play in what’s essentially a televised pick-up game. Then again, who knows what might happen if he takes a shot off the helmet.

Most of Lindros’ concussions (at least 7, I think) were in a Flyer uniform. He had a few more after he left. But, I’m not sure he tried to play like a linebacker on the ice quite as much after he left the Flyers, either.

I was less into it this year, but still kind of looking forward to it. Then they went and moved it back 2 hours and shoved a totally irrelevant, seemingly endless pre-game show in front. I’m battling a cold, looked at the original schedule, and said, “OK, I can watch the Rose Bowl Parade, the WC, then take some cold meds and doze until the Devils play tonight”.

There was no reason to push it back. Stupidity. Now they are up against the Rose Bowl instead of much less significant games and I’m much less interested. And, I’m still going to take cold meds and take a nap.

When Milbury called the Rangers “blue shits” I was intrigued about how this game could go, but Philly booing the “O Canada” has me turning it off to do laundry. It reminded me how much I hate these teams.

I wouldn’t have booed it (you don’t boo an anthem) but I wasn’t thrilled with the style in which it was done. Don’t turn an anthem into pop music by sliding in and out of the notes, there’s no reason to do that. Just hit the notes and get through it. But, they would have booed it anyway because it was ‘Oh, Canada’ and they are classless.

Apparently, the people cleaning the seats in the stadium booed the Rangers during practice yesterday. Now, that I might have done…although it pains me to think I have anything in common w/Flyer fans.
