It’s been years since we’ve had a meaningful Devils game to watch in May… we barely know what to do with ourselves. Probably the best thing to do is just sit really, really still and not breathe or anything, so as not to upset the delicate balance here.

Pierre just kept emphasizing that Giroux did not leave his feet. There was also my personal favorite “see how late the hit is” during the slow-mo replay.

Frisby, I love that “count the seconds in the slo-mo replay!” approach to assessing late hits. My favorite, though, is when the color guy admits the replay is slowed down, but persists in using it to determine how late the hit was. Like, “I know this is a totally bullshit perspective, but I don’t care!”

We’ve had a peppy, upbeat playlist on Pookie’s iPod playing instead of listening to this broadcast, and it just, two minutes ago, shifted into more of an unnerving and extremely tense stretch of songs. This isn’t helping.

Another update from the Rock. Good crowd, but we basically spent the third period biting our nails. They played the Rocky vIdeo with 7:43 to go, but nervous as we were, it did not have the same effect. Was sad to see Sestito Puente take Tedenby’s number.

Hi everyone, I completely missed the game. A friend of mine is opening a restaurant and asked friends/family over for a test run. It was a tough choice…free good food (although the service needs work) or NJ/Philly.

I went with the food. Got back in the car and turned on the radio for the last few minutes of the radio post-game. You guys deserve a WOOOOO!!!! for the job you did with these guys…are we sure these are the Devils????

I take full credit for tonight’s win, by the way. We finally made it to a game, and I made this ridiculous hat and wore it. After the Flyers’ second goal, I decided it was the hat. Immediately after removing said cursed (but totally awesome) hat, we scored. I kept the hat off whenever the puck was in play for the rest of the game, and obviously it ended up winning the game for us.

Gunner, I think I would have died from the tension if I’d been at the game in person. Cheering would have been completely out of the question, unless the sound of my vomiting counts as cheering. (I literally had to cover my eyes with my hands when the final minute was announced. Thank heavens Zubrus put an end to my worry so quickly.)

Sue, I agree with Pookie. You’re just going to have to suffer free food (and lousy service) for however long the Devils’ playoff run is going to be.

It was only free last night…it was a test run and we were testees. If we’d been paying for it (especially w/my budget) I might not have been as pleasant when our entree order went to another table and we waited for over an hour and a half to eat.

I just flew back from Atlanta last night (yes my arms are suitably fatigued) but had to watch the last game before bedtime. I’ve been trying to tamp it down after all the years of disappointment we have suffered but I am really beginning to believe. And in case you haven’t heard, Giroux is suspended for tonight’s game which has me even more hopeful. And Nell, where’s the hat, truly it must have mystical powers.

Yeah, Giroux is suspended. I have no idea whether that makes me hopeful or not. It may wake up the Flyers. I was surprised. Based on the way Shanahan has been going, I thought it was going to be a fine.

I can understand Flyer fans being somewhat upset simply because Shanahan has been so inconsistent (only fining Weber, did nothing to Malkin when he was running wild against the Flyers, only one game for Neal when he attacked 2 players on the same shift, no suspension for Ovechkin). But, some of them actually believe the league did this because Lou insisted it be done. They are clueless (no surprise) and don’t realize that NJ is the only team that sends no communication to the league when there might be supplemental discipline for something that happened to one of their players. I’m not sure whether I like this or not but NJ leaves it entirely up to the NHL.

I’m not sure I like that either but it seems somewhat consistent with how Lou runs things. It seemed to work in this case.

I didn’t get a chance to look back at the boards for a while :( and then they kept winning…so got all superstitious and decided that as long as I stayed away from IPB, they would keep it going strong. It worked…until thie finals. Shoulda come back during Game 1.
