We’d like to be really excited for Game 5 tonight, but the Devils are due for their next 3-0 loss, so we’re going to keep our enthusiasm tamped a bit until Game 6.

GT shows a solid wall of blue icons until a lone NJ shot somewhere around the 2 min mark. Plus, I can see from Twitter that after the Ranger timeout, NY outshot the Devils 9-2,but NJ scored on one of their shots. PDB needs to have a chat w/the boys between periods.

Yeah, you’re right. I feel better, too. From what I understand, Marty’s body parts handed them the third goal…this was the first game where the Rangers played more than one good period, and they still lost.

The Rangers had the better of the play basically from Torts’s first-period timeout until the Carter goal. And by “better of the play” I mean that they dominated. The only reason we didn’t turn the game off was because Boomer put her foot down — I really thought it was a foregone conclusion that the Rangers were going to win. Especially after Marty basically picked the puck up and threw it into his net to tie up the game. Heh. Goes to show what I know! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those comments sum up my thoughts exactly, I wasn’t near as happy at the end as I should have been because there was so much badness preceding it. It also didn’t help that NBC’s horrible broadcasting basically made it impossible to see the winning goal when it happened.
We adopted a new dog named Justice yesterday so I’m pretty sure that had everything to do with the Devils getting justice in this game for the two previous games that they lost. Plus I can make lots of awesome jokes around the house now.

Dog does something clumsy or backs into something: “Justice is blind!”
Dog does something cool: “Justice is served!”

And that’s reassuring to hear that Sue and I aren’t alone in being shockingly pissy about a game in which the Devils took a 3-2 ECF lead against the Rangers. It seems that shouldn’t be possible, but there you go. I was reading the game threads from last night on a variety of Rangers blogs today (not much going on at work this week), and on one of them a commenter remarked that he felt the game didn’t seem like an ECF game, but rather just a Devils/Rangers game. I think that was an apt assessment, and goes a long way to explain how I could still have some grumpiness about it.

I watched last night’s game in a Rangers household. It was awkward. And AWESOME! Also, I’m terrified to come on here during games, as every time I do, we lose. Also, I work during games. Just thought I’d say hi, and I’ll see you when the Devils aren’t playing anymore.
