We’re in the middle of basting a quilt today. Couldn’t the Devils have consulted with us before having a 1:00 matinee?
What a crappy picture!

Didn’t notice you started a new thread. I had to fire Clarkson. 3 penalties? Who does he think is playing for the Pens, Avery?
Thank god you’re on the switch, here Sue! Otherwise Clarkson would think what he’s doing is okay. Wait, what’s that? He hasn’t noticed that the penalties are a problem? Sigh.
My quilt is done being basted now! Yay! Now starts the multi-year process of quilting it! Also, my back and knees are KILLING me after all that time spent crouched over, pinning safety pins.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know who I like? Henrique. I KNOW. Shocking, right?
Once again, Henrique…not fired. Yet.
I am annoyed with Lou because we had Janssen up here and not Butler to start the season.
Oh, and Fayne’s fired.
Nice that Matteau got his first goal, but it would have been more fitting if it had been scored against Prawn.

Maybe we can just hope for a playoff-eliminating OT goal. Just for symmetry’s sake.
I will not complain if every team we play for the rest of the season decides to melt down completely in the third period.
Sigh. I have to fire Fayne. Again.

It does help, doesn’t it? I’m completely in favor.
Crappy picture, pretty quilt.
Wait, the Devils are playing? Whoops. Forgot about that.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You know what? So far this season has been AWESOME! I’m so glad hockey came back!
I’m so glad hockey came back!
Me too! Except I keep forgetting about it!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The Devils are so spunky this year!
Mags, good to see you again! I keep forgetting when games are on, too. Could be because for once, I didn’t put the Devils game into my calendar.
It’s good to see you too :) Hope you’ve been well!
I didn’t put the Devils game into my calendar.
Me neither. And I can’t really be bothered to do it now.
Mags! So good to see you! How’s it going?
I feel like if I started to eagerly anticipate Devils games, they’d start sucking. So I need to just keep having them as a pleasant surprise. Isn’t that what Lou always tells us our shitty trade-deadling pick-ups are going to be? Well, why not apply it to the entire team, for the entire season?
Happy accidents, that’s the trick.
I’m doing quite well! Remarkably well, actually :) Life is just nice right now.
Basting a quilt?! It’s not going to the long armer? You are doing it yourself? Brava!
Hockey has been a bit surreal. I’m not just surprised when it’s on the tv, I can’t quite believe the Red Wings are actually winning a few games. That, and about 4 hours of constant, Canadian, homespun coverage of Hockey Day in Canada yesterday. You people who don’t get Canadian tv miss out on this once a year spectacular. Pond hockey plus in depth coverage of pee wee hockey and hockey moms. It’s so bad it wonderful.
How about those Devils, eh?
Life is just nice right now.
That’s awesome to hear! I love it when life is nice. :D
Hi Tram! Yes I am hand-quilting! Pookie’s done two lap quilts, but this is my first go — it’s queen sized, and I’m doing Baptist fans. It’s so fun so far!!
Hockey Day in Canada seems like something coming from another planet. I remember seeing some of it back when DirecTV’s hockey package was a bit less closely policed (we’d get a lot more random stuff coming in before and after the games proper), and it was like living in a cuckoo clock. I can’t even imagine how much more over-the-top it is now!
NJ can’t seem to complete a pass right now.
It is good to hear that DeBoer appreciates Captain Hugs, though. That means he’s much more discerning and intelligent than Sutter.
I feel like the Devils has a nice vibe to it under DeBoer, and clearly it’s a Captain Hugs vibe that starts at the top.
(This is the first Devils game we’ve been sitting down for from the puck-drop in, well, ages. So I won’t be surprised if they lose because of us. :P)
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I am LOVING Clarkson’s contract year!
I’m so confused by David Clarkson, goal-scoring machine.
Somebody hold me.
You know, I was watching when Clarkson was interviewed after yesterday’s game, and I found myself thinking, “I know I’ve always said he’d pretty but dim…but he’s really, really pretty. I wonder if he’s prettier than his wife.”
I didn’t listen to a thing he said.
Oh, and Gionta’s fired.
Don’t worry, Gunner, based on his facial expression, it looks like Clarkson is as confused as you are. Thinking is hard for him. Scoring, apparently not so much. Thinking? Definitely.
Maybe it’s the lock-out. Everyone’s playing sloppy hockey – they’re finally all in Clarkson’s wheel-house!
Yeah, I’m much calmer when we’re dealing with David Clarkson, idiotic penalty machine.
I’m so confused by David Clarkson, goal-scoring machine.
It confuses us all.
It’s almost as confounding as Ilya Kovalchuk, penalty killer.
Everyone’s playing sloppy hockey – they’re finally all in Clarkson’s wheel-house!
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
And Sue, I know that feeling. I love his latest commercial for whatever store that is (clearly the advertising money they’ve spent on that campaign has done its job), because he is, like, meltingly pretty when he’s smashing the hockey stick over his knee.
I know I’ve always said he’d pretty but dim…but he’s really, really pretty.
I have that same thought process every time that Total Hockey commercial comes on. It’s easy to forget exactly how pretty he actually is. The Rock should play Pillowfight’s “You’re So Pretty” every time he scores.
Volchenkov’s fired.
I fired Gionta. I didn’t want him broken.
Oh god. We’re talking about who should make what Olympic team already? This is why I want the NHL to stop participating — because the ENDLESS blathering about potential rosters just makes me want to shoot myself.
Chuckles? Not fired. Yet.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I was looking down, and the play-by-play wasn’t talking about the play, and suddenly it seemed the arena was really quiet. Heh.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And hey — newsflash! Orpik’s a douche!)
I love the commentary about Chuckles. Kovalchuk has become a much more complete and conscientious player in Nj than he was in Atlanta. Geez…you think?
Was that Clarkson’s…9th?????
Ugh. I think we’re going to watch the dog show tonight.
I thought we were watching some dogs on ice tonight.
They just showed Kirk Muller. I think he has a portrait in his attic that ages, because he doesn’t really look much older.
I am confused, Columbus hired a new GM and it wasn’t any of the candidates that Stan said it would be in the intermission of last night’s disaster. It’s not like Stan to be wrong about stuff…
Oh wait, it’s exactly like Stan to be wrong about stuff. And wow was that game bad last night, I even found it necessary to fire Henrique.
And wow was that game bad last night, I even found it necessary to fire Henrique.
Yeah, last night was a “fire ‘em all” game.
So, in response to Zubrus going on the IR, Lou has done what he does best, re-aquire a former Devil. Ladies, gentlemen and those who have not yet made up your minds, it’s the return of the pretty Poni.
Thanks goodness there wasn’t an injury earlier, or Gomez would have been back here for sure.
I remember Poni doing OK last year, it seemed like he started off strong and then I didn’t really notice him much but that at least means he probably wasn’t doing anything bad.
I thought I had no problem with Poni, but after watching the first half of this first period tonight, I think I hate anything affiliated with the Devils organization.
Looks like it’s another “fire ‘em all” game.
I wasn’t happy about the last game but I could, just barely, understand them not being that up for a game against the WhalerCanes after two big wins against the Pens.
They have no excuse against the Flyers. Just because Lou gave them a Poni doesn’t mean they can act like they are at a party.
Just because Lou gave them a Poni doesn’t mean they can act like they are at a party.
:^:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Plus, the Pony’s off the hook now for making an attempt at playing better.
Marty still clears the zone better than anyone else on NJ. That’s just sad.
NJ continues to pass the puck directly to the Flyers.
I see 3 possible reasons for what is happening:
1. All NJ players (except maybe Marty) suddenly became color blind at the same time and can’t tell the difference between NJ and Flyer players
2. They are all hallucinating and see imaginary NJ players right next to the Flyer players
3. They just suck and can’t pass the damn puck
Now they are completing passes to the right players (sometimes) but cannot stay onside.
Okay, my motto for this season is, “Well THAT didn’t turn out the way I expected!” WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was a totally weird game. But they won!
Poor Kovy, the ‘prize’ for being first star is that he has to talk to Deb.
