Okay, so we went away for a few days and returned home to find that the league was all settled on a new alignment plan. While we can definitely find things to complain about with this new plan — because, let’s face it, we can find things to complain about everything — it doesn’t seem too terrible. The only thing that has us really worried is the fact that the divisions will be named. Because you know what that means, Gentle Reader. That’s right — we’re going to be stuck in, like, the Gretzky Division. Or the Lemieux Division. Or the — ::hurl:: — Messier Division. Those are horrible names, and we want to offer the league a service here to keep them from making a naming decision they’ll live to regret. NHL, can we suggest a division name that is utterly unassailable in its awesomeness? Yes, we’re being dead serious here, and you can thank us later for…

My two dogs are wondering if they can join “Felines Against Mario” or if your cats are racist, in which case they will form “Canines Against Mario.” Knowing Bettman, we will get boring names like the West, Midwest, Northeast Except for Where It Isn’t and New York Metroplex divisions. And call me crazy but I am looking forward to tonight’s game, haven’t felt this way for a while.

After they took the even-up penalty to end their PP, the Flyers seemed to be more interested in injuring a Devil than in winning. Which is typical of the Flyers (is there somewhere they breed these guys especially for Ed Snider) but it’s also stupid.

Listening to Chico declare his love for Chuckles, I am remembering the game when Ilya was still in Atlanta and Chico practically had a game-long conniption about his unwillingness to play defense. It’s not that Chico was wrong…it’s just amusing.

Well, the NJ-Habs game is completely uninspiring…and, as I write this, NJ actually manages to score on the PP. Will wonders never cease.
Anyway, there are a few interesting things going on tonight in the NHL. The Islanders are leading the Panthers (and Clemmer) 2-0 and if they win, they move in front of the evil Rangers in the standings. I’d root for them to carpet-bomb Clemmer in any case, but Go Isles!!! Finish tonight looking down on Prawn & Co in the standings….
This weekend’s games sucked! Greene is extra fired but that is awesome about the Isles leading the Rags, hopefully the Devils can keep the Rangers down tomorrow as well. It would be nice if Kovy would hit the net instead of the post or back wall as well.

I was less annoyed about Saturday – NJ was playing their 3rd in 4 days and the Habs were sitting there waiting for them, rested. I kind of expected what happened and, at least, unlike other games we’ve seen this year, NJ didn’t collapse and just let the game get away from them. They just lost, 2-1, to a good team. Has anyone else noticed that Montreal suddenly became good again once they bought out Gomer???
I was pissed about losing in a shootout to the Flyers because it should have been a 1-0 win for NJ…the idiot NJ d-men who decided they needed to ‘help’ Hedberg and wiped him out have still not been re-hired.

Brodeur returns tomorrow night, things are going so bad for this team that I will actually be glad to see him.
Our condolences about the Rangers last night…the game was entertaining thought. For the first half at least. What a front-loaded game it was.

I’d like to point out that Chuckles managed to break himself. He obviously caught Clarksonitis, fell into the boards, and that was that. Out for 2-4 weeks.

I do like the fact that one of Brodeur’s kids has been drafted by the OHL is making all the announcers and writers feel ancient.
